2 Congratulations! Congratulations on your purchase of the Lionel Amusement Park Swing Ride! This accessory features authentic carnival music, flashing LEDs in the platform, overhead lighting, and an illuminated swing structure. The motion of the ride automatically simulates the ride cycle gradually increasing speed until the swings are fully extended, then slowing to a stop. 3 Powering the Amusement Park Swings Your accessory was designed to operate at volts (AC). Because this accessory is equipped with sensitive electronic components, do not exceed the 18-volt maximum. If the accessory is powered at less than 15 volts, you may find that the sound is distorted. Power this accessory using a separate accessory power supply or through track power using a Lockon (available separately, ) or a FasTrack Accessory Power Wire (available separately, ). To make the proper connections, the ends of the wires must be stripped back 1/8 to 1/4. Caution! Use a pair of wire strippers to strip the wires. Only an adult should perform this task. Always use care when stripping wires. Caution! Do not exceed 18 volts. Damage to sensitive electronic components may occur. FasTrack Users. If you are using a FasTrack Accessory Power wire, slide the quick connectors on the wires to the electrical terminals on the underside of the track. Attach the bare ends of the wires to the outside terminals on the accessory. 1. Connect one wire from the terminal on your power supply or the #1 terminal on a track Lockon to a terminal on the accessory. Note! To make the spring clip terminal connections, simply press down on the top of the terminal clip so that a metal loop is exposed. Slide the bare end of the wire into the exposed loop. Release pressure on the terminal clip, allowing the crimped metal to pinch the end of the wire in the metal loop. Give a little tug on the wire to check if the hold is secure. 2. Connect another wire from the terminal on your power supply or the #2 terminal on a track Lockon to the remaining terminal on the accessory. 4 Installing the flags Twelve flags fly at the top of the accessory. Press the base of each flag into a hole in the canopy panels. Refer to Figure 2. Operating the accessory Use the controller to operate the accessory. Slide the ON/OFF switch to the ON position to turn on the lights and start the animation. Rotate the volume control knob clockwise to turn on the carnival music and adjust the volume. Refer to Figure 3, ON/OFF switch Figure 3. Controller operations Volume control knob Operating your accessory with TrainMaster Command Control You may choose to connect your accessory to a SC-2 Switch and Accessory Controller (available separately, ) or the Accessory Switch Controller (available separately, ) for operation in the TrainMaster Command Control environment. Refer to these manuals for additional information. Note! Be sure that the ON/OFF switch is in the ON position and the volume is turned up. Refer to Figure 3 for the location of these controls. SC-2 wiring and operation Three wires (not included) are needed to connect your accessory to the SC-2 and a separate transformer. Refer to Figure 4 on page Attach one wire to the transformer terminal and connect it to the accessory COMM (common) position on the SC Connect one of the terminals on the bottom of the accessory to the accessory ON/OFF toggle position on the SC Finally, connect the remaining terminal on the bottom of the accessory to the transformer terminal. Use the AUX2 button on your CAB-1 Remote Controller to toggle the accessory ON and OFF. 4 Figure 2. Flag installation

SC-2 connections Accessory Switch Controller wiring and operation Three wires (not included) are needed to connect your accessory to the Accessory Switch Controller (ASC) and a separate transformer. Refer to Figure Attach one wire to the transformer terminal and connect it to the COMM terminal on the ASC. 2. Connect one of the terminals on the bottom of the accessory to a numbered accessory terminal on the ASC. 3. Finally, connect the remaining terminal on the bottom of the accessory to the transformer terminal. Use the AUX2 button on your CAB-1 Remote Controller to toggle the accessory ON and OFF. 6 Replacing the lamps Your accessory is illuminated by several lamps and LEDs. During the course of normal operations, you may find that the lamps require replacement. The LEDs are expected to last for the life of the accessory. Overhead fuse-style lamps Use a small flat screwdriver and a pair of pliers to replace the fuse-style lamps (Lionel part no ) that illuminate the platform. Refer to Figure Carefully position the end of a small flat screwdriver between one of the metal ends of the lamp and the housing. 2. Gently pry the lamp out of the prongs. Caution! Pry the lamp out of the socket against a metal end only. Prying against the glass tube could cause the tube to shatter. 3. Use a pair of pliers to gently press the prongs together. 4. 7 Replacing the lamps Swing structure lamps The interior of the swing structure is illuminated by two small lamps (Lionel part no ). Refer to Figure 7 as your replace these lamps. 1. Remove the three Phillips-head screws from the underside of the canopy and carefully lift it away. 2. Remove the screw that secures the lamp arm to the swing structure. Lift the arm out of the structure to access the lamp. 3. Unscrew the expired lamp and install the replacement. 4. Follow these steps in reverse order to reassemble the accessory. 8 Limited Warranty/Lionel Service This Lionel product, including all mechanical and electrical components, moving parts, motors and structural components, except for light bulbs, is warranted to the original consumer-purchaser, for one year against original defects in materials or workmanship when purchased through an authorized Lionel merchant. This warranty does NOT cover normal wear and tear, light bulbs, defects appearing in the course of commercial use, or damage resulting from abuse or misuse of the product by the purchaser. Transfer of this product by the original consumer-purchaser to another person voids this warranty. Modification of this product voids this warranty. Any warranted product which is defective in original materials or workmanship and is delivered by the original consumer-purchaser to Lionel L.L.C. or an authorized Lionel L.L.C. Service Center, together with proof of original purchase will, at the option of Lionel L.L.C., be repaired or replaced, without charge for parts or labor. In the event the defective product cannot be repaired, and a replacement is not available, a refund of the original purchase price will be granted. Any products on which warranty service is sought must be sent freight or postage prepaid, as transportation and shipping charges are not covered by the warranty. In no event shall Lionel L.L.C. be liable for incidental or consequential damages. Some states do not allow the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages, so the above exclusion may not apply to you. This limited warranty gives you specific legal rights, and you may have other rights which vary from state to state. Instructions for Obtaining Service If service for this Lionel L.L.C. product is required, bring the item, along with your dated sales receipt and completed warranty information to the nearest Authorized Lionel Service Center. Your nearest Lionel Service Center can be found by calling Lionel, or by accessing our Website at If you prefer to send your product back to Lionel L.L.C. for repair in Michigan, you must first call or FAX , or write to Customer Service, P.O. Box 748, New Baltimore, MI , stating what the item is, when it was purchased and what seems to be the problem. You will be sent a return authorization letter and label to ensure your merchandise will be properly handled upon receipt. Once you have received your return authorization and label, make sure that the item is packed to prevent damage during shipping and handling. We suggest that you use the product s original packaging. This shipment must be prepaid and we recommend that it be insured. Please make sure you have followed all of the above instructions carefully before returning any merchandise for service. You may choose to have your product repaired by one of our Authorized Lionel Service Centers after its warranty has expired. A reasonable service fee will be charged.
