What did you like best about Flex Day? Response Count 44 answered question 44 skipped question 22 Page 2, Q1. What did you like best about Flex Day? 1 Lunch Sep 12, :02 PM 2 It was standard opening for the new semester. Sep 9, :16 PM 3 Norma Barragan's report on 211. Sep 6, :10 AM 4 jeopardy Sep 1, :28 PM 5 The opening section. It was useful to hear all the updates. Aug 31, :53 AM 6 The breakout sessions were a GREAT idea. Unfortunately, there were some faculty who were absent who could have greatly benefited from this activity. How can we engage faculty who resist engagement? It seems unbalanced that full time faculty who need to participate and engage can dodge visibility and effort. Aug 31, :17 AM 7 Information provided. Chance to hear the new President and VPs talk. Aug 30, :24 PM 8 Reconnecting with my colleagues. Aug 30, :52 AM 9 Avoiding Double Jeopardy! Aug 29, :18 PM 10 Valuable information given that I was not aware of. Aug 29, :56 PM 11 The collegiality and fun of the "Advoiding Double Jeopardy". Aug 29, :29 PM 12 The Room choice at the 4th Floor of the Libray and the shorter verbal reports. Aug 29, :42 PM 13 free lunch and breakfast Aug 29, :33 AM 14 The chance again to meet my fellow faculty and to exchange information and reaccquaint oneselves. Aug 29, :05 AM 15 Quick and to the points Aug 29, :54 AM 16 Nice opportuntiy to meet everyone. Aug 29, :07 AM 1 of 3 Page 3 of 8

Page 2, Q1. What did you like best about Flex Day? West Los Angeles College 17 it was well organized and moved forward easily...i always like the information and then the meetings in Departments in the afternoon...i am npot fond of the Double Jeopardy, but that is only my personal thing and should not influence the others, who may like it The new location. I enjoyed the atmosphere of the 4th floor and the adjoining areas. Aug 28, :48 PM Aug 28, :52 AM 19 The Jeopardy game. Aug 26, :50 PM 20 The president's speech and the Student Services Double Jeopardy session Aug 26, :55 PM 21 The opening words from our new president. Aug 26, :45 PM 22 The spirit of optimism. Aug 26, :03 AM 23 having a chance to see faculty Aug 26, :19 AM 24 It was relaxed, people had plenty of time to socialize. Aug 26, :20 AM 25 Discussion of library resources. Aug 26, :06 AM 26 I was positively impressed by the knowledge of the presenters pertaining to college administration & accreditation, as well as with the knowledge of some of my colleagues in these same areas. 27 Concise, focused presentations. Movement to different fomats of participation. Creativity in providing understanding and motivation to further contribute to our mutual goals. Aug 25, :39 PM Aug 25, :07 PM 28 Collegial setting, sincere communication efforts. Aug 25, :54 PM 29 Seeing everyone together. Aug 25, :51 PM 30 Interaction with peers. Good information. So that is 2 things. Aug 25, :31 PM 31 Hearing our new president speak for the first time. Aug 25, :59 PM 32 I enjoyed the opening session and Avoiding Double Jeopardy. Aug 25, :47 PM 33 The free lunch Aug 25, :39 PM 34 Friendly, welcome and very useful information Aug 25, :34 PM 35 The Jeopardy group. Everything else was excrutiating, despite what were, I'm sure, the best of intentions. Aug 25, :31 PM 36 Reconnecting with colleagues Aug 25, :28 PM 37 President's remarks and the information dvd about 211. I did not have any prior knowledge about the 211 program; can be very helpful for our students. Aug 25, :48 PM 38 Lunch with colleagues. Aug 25, :39 PM 39 The oppurtunity to meet faculty Aug 25, :12 PM 2 of 3 Page 4 of 8

Page 2, Q1. What did you like best about Flex Day? West Los Angeles College 40 The agenda was very well conceived, with each item being informative/educating. I learned a lot today and felt very engaged/excited about the upcoming academic year. Learning about 211, the data on the book rental program, the many ways West has improved in preparation for accreditation and our new president - all very pertinent. Thanks for making this event so valuable. 41 Meeting faculty and staff. Taking a temperature of what the year will be like. Seeing the new president in action. Aug 25, :58 PM Aug 25, :53 PM 42 Seeing all my colleagues. Aug 25, :47 PM 43 Jeopardy. Aug 25, :11 PM 44 President's remarks. Good approach. Aug 25, :30 PM 3 of 3 Page 5 of 8

What suggestions for change or improvement do you have? Response Count 39 answered question 39 skipped question 27 Page 2, Q1. What suggestions for change or improvement do you have? 1 More information to help students. Sep 6, :10 AM 2 Not going to 4th floor HLRC. Sep 1, :28 PM 3 Scheduling 4 breakout sections was unrealistic, especially since the opening speakers always go overtime. Three would have been a better number. 4 Have those who do not attend write a summary of the events from minutes and perhaps tapings of breakout sessions. Have them take on some kind of responsibility for understanding and using the valuable information that is given on FLEX. This flex was especially informative and FUN. 5 Have intellectually stimulating presentations. People I spoke with considered the presentations deadening and could hardly wait to leave. 6 Need more, make that some, direction/organization to coordinate the breakouts. Not well explained as to where to go. Our group was just 4 people, while another had I would really love to see a session that addressed exactly the requirements for transfer and talked about honors, etc. A little more practical information so that we can all act as advisors to the students. Aug 31, :53 AM Aug 31, :17 AM Aug 30, :20 PM Aug 30, :24 PM Aug 30, :52 AM 8 Have music or entertainment while eating lunch Aug 29, :29 PM 9 Have beeter room planning for the brak out sessions. Possibly all of them with projector and internet capabilities. 10 Better organization. Keep timing! Have adequate space. The planning did not take into consideration the number of people attending. It was too much "wait and see how many come and then we'll manage it." Aug 29, :42 PM Aug 29, :06 PM 11 The lunch should be with better food. Aug 29, :33 AM 12 Too many breakout sessions for the time frame. Aug 29, :52 AM 1 of 3 Page 6 of 8

Page 2, Q1. What suggestions for change or improvement do you have? 13 Keep the activity in the LRC 4th floor. Greet meeting space. Move lunch to the outdoors of the LRC. Maybe next year to the new food hall in the Student Services Building Aug 29, :05 AM 14 More time for the general session. Aug 29, :56 AM 15 Distribution of Name tag - more organized. Better if lined up by last name. Aug 29, :54 AM 16 Everything o.k. this year. Aug 29, :07 AM 17 Cannot think of any changes, because each year brings new developments and we have to adjust to those Require all faculty to attend, have a timed sign in. I saw several instructors arrive at the end, they were allowed to sign in anyway. One of my own division members habitually does not attend the first session and there is nothing that happens. 19 We never got a chance to do the Ice Breaker and I was looking foward to learning what the acronyms stand for. It was a good idea. I thought the opening session was a little rushed, but I learned quite a bit from the presentations. Aug 28, :48 PM Aug 28, :52 AM Aug 26, :50 PM 20 Please do not have poor speakers speak. Aug 26, :55 PM 21 N/A Aug 26, :45 PM 22 the assignment to breakout sessions seemed a little disorganized Aug 26, :19 AM 23 Overall I think that the program was great. The sign in sheet situation was a bit confusing. Either have sheets for each division and college unit or have an alpha system. In addition, we should possibly have people rsvp in the future. we need to encourage adjunct participation and they are still "left out" with a different sign in sheet. If people RSVP then we have their names in advance, without distinction between administrators, faculty or adjunct. 24 The organizers & presenters deserve kudos for their effort and knowledge and "friendliness." 25 None... This year's activity was a totally new approach to learning... Keep it going Lecturing us really does not work very well. Maybe someday we could have an online portion (with quizzes--very interactive), with a lunch and chat followed by division meetings. Aug 26, :20 AM Aug 25, :39 PM Aug 25, :07 PM Aug 25, :51 PM 27 More chairs. Aug 25, :31 PM 28 It was a little confusing as to where each color group was to go for the first breakout session. Once you attended the first, going to the second, third, and fourth was problem-free. 29 The rotation between workshops was not clear or smooth. Need to add a schedule to each color that folks could follow. 30 Don't schedule the Ice Breaker for last; schedule it first. We need the endorphins from it to survive the rest. Aug 25, :59 PM Aug 25, :47 PM Aug 25, :31 PM 2 of 3 Page 7 of 8

Page 2, Q1. What suggestions for change or improvement do you have? 31 More time to reconnect with colleagues. Less of "talking heads" Aug 25, :28 PM 32 Please tell Breakout presenters that it is very irritating to have to sit there and be read to any information that is disseminated. This insults my intelligence and because the sessions are timed, it wastes time. Breakout rooms need to have adequate space and better soundproofing. Aug 25, :48 PM 33 Better organization of the breakout sessions. 3 sessions are enough. Aug 25, :39 PM 34 The speakers are too long winded. You have times set up yet you don't follow the agenda. 35 longer time for breakout sessions longer meet and greet since most people sit with people they know during lunch time 36 Better planning for which groups went where first, second, third and last to avoid the confusing start of the breakout sessions. But, it worked out with good attention and effort. Thank you. 37 More interaction. Allow time in breakout sessions for more general questions. Accreditation is important but so are questions and concerns about daily operating procedures. Perhaps add a session dedicated to this, especially for us adjuncts. Aug 25, :15 PM Aug 25, :12 PM Aug 25, :58 PM Aug 25, :53 PM 38 Focusing on an issue other than accreditation. Aug 25, :47 PM 39 Organizing the break out participation differently so that some workshops were not over filled while others were under filled. Aug 25, :36 PM 3 of 3 Page 8 of 8
