1 ICT Job Market Analysis ITCRA Insight: November 2014

2 ITCRA ITCRA is the professional body for the ICT contracting and recruitment sector in Australia and New Zealand. ITCRA Members supply and/or manage white collar professionals on behalf of their clients for permanent and flexible roles, including contracting, across Australia and New Zealand as well as multiple international markets. ITCRA s Vision is to provide leadership for Members, based on knowledge, standards and influence. The ICT Job Market Analysis is the key pillar of ITCRA s Strategy to provide Members with business intelligence, industry positioning and research programs to assist in accelerating their business objectives and market knowledge.

3 The Data Source SkillsMatch collates real time data to a central data base and includes: position requirements, open positions, salaries offered, placements made and time-to-fill for ICT contract and permanent roles. Burning Glass tools and data are playing a growing role in informing conversations on workforce and education. By using an advanced analytic application recruiters, researchers, policy makers, educators and employers can have a real time awareness into labour market demand that highlights skills, knowledge, experience, and education in demand as well as industries and occupations.

30 The ICT Job Market in September/October 2014 Desirable soft skills have changed slightly with training replacing planning as a top skill in Australia, and detail orientation replacing training in New Zealand Australia s mining sector has dropped off the Top Five hiring industries for ICT work Time to place has increased in all States and Territories in Australia There is little difference in roles advertised in each of the major New Zealand cities.
