1 LAKE TAHOE, CALIFORNIA THINGS TO KNOW CLIMATE It's four seasons of perfection in Squaw Valley. The summers entice mountain bikers and hikers to roam the hills, which are often covered in wildflowers galore. The winters bring feet of snow sometimes more than 400 inches each year to Squaw Valley and surrounding resorts. However, Squaw typically offers some of the best skiing in the valley. Its mountains invite pro skiers and boarders from around the globe. GETTING THERE By far the most convenient way to get to Squaw Valley is flying into Reno/Tahoe International Airport (RNO). This airport is 42 miles from Squaw and offers regular shuttle buses to the resort. Your Destination Concierge can also help arrange transportation. You can also fly into Sacramento International Airport (SMF), which is 96 miles from Squaw, or San Francisco International Airport (SFO), which is 196 miles away. GETTING AROUND A rental car is highly recommended here, especially in the summer to explore the entire area. For winter, we recommend a four-wheel drive vehicle, as snowfall can be heavy. Of course, your Destination Concierge can arrange private transportation for you as well. PARKING Your residence includes a two-car garage plus one additional parking space outside. SPECIAL NOTE: The driveway at this residence is steep and in the winter, you will need a vehicle with four-wheel drive to easily access the home. CHECK IN/ARRIVAL PROCESS Your Destination Concierge will meet you at your residence for check-in and an orientation. If you arrive very late, you will enter the residence through the garage using a keypad (your concierge will provide the code). Simply complete the order form on your Inspirato.com account at least 72 hours prior to your arrival. Additional shopping trips are $25 plus the cost of groceries. IN-RESIDENCE DINING OPTIONS Your Destination Concierge can arrange for a private chef to come to your residence and cook a fantastic meal right in your own kitchen. STAY FIT If you book a service at the spa at the Resort at Squaw Creek, you will have access to the resort s fully equipped fitness center. But with world-class skiing and hiking just a short drive away, the natural landscape of Lake Tahoe provides endless opportunity to get an outdoor workout. HOUSEKEEPING Daily. TIPPING GUIDELINES While our Destination Concierge teams and housekeeping staff welcome and appreciate recognition for exceptional service, tipping is entirely up to you based on your level of satisfaction. If you would like to leave a gratuity, we suggest the following general guidelines: + Destination Concierge: $20-$50 per day depending on the level of service you experienced. + Housekeeping: $5-$7 per occupied room per evening is typical for luxury hospitality. + Restaurants: The customary 15-20% of your total bill is appropriate. + Vendors: Gratuity is dependent on the complexity of the experience or service, so we suggest using your discretion. 3 THINGS TO DO SPA The spa at the Resort at Squaw Creek (located about five minutes away) offers a wide range of massages, body treatments and skincare services designed to tackle every ache and need. Let your muscles recover after a day on the slopes or trails with a treatment that utilizes luxurious ingredients like seaweed, coconut and natural botanicals. Alternatively, give yourself a head start and opt for the high altitude massage, which aims to help visitors adjust to Tahoe s elevation. 4 THINGS TO DO ROMANTIC Not to brag or anything, but picturesque views, cozy hot tubs, mountain sunsets, strolls through wildflower meadows and stargazing make Tahoe a pretty fantastic setting for all things romantic. We recommend having dinner on the over-the-water dock at West Shore Cafe and Inn and kayaking along the secluded east shore of the lake. ADVENTURE You re sure to spend plenty of time on the water during your vacation, but it s worth carving out some time to get up above the water, too. A certified guide can take you on a rock climbing expedition at Donner Pass, which overlooks the smaller but still stunning Donner Lake (located about 27 miles north of Lake Tahoe). NATURE During your time in Lake Tahoe, you ll be surrounded by incredible nature everywhere you look. To experience it fully, we suggest hiking the D.L. Bliss trail to the world-renowned Emerald Bay State Park. The name is fitting: rocky shores neighbor crystal clear blue-green water fringed by pine trees. It s quintessential Tahoe at its finest. LOCAL The legendary Tahoe Rim Trail hugs the perimeter of Lake Tahoe for 165 miles, following the mountain ridges that create the Tahoe Basin and offering an extensive bounty of activities. Where it s allowed, mountain biking is a local s favorite way to explore the trail. Elsewhere, a hike or horseback ride lets you experience the beauty at your own speed. ROMANTIC Pianeta (located 15 minutes away) Nestled in quaint downtown Truckee, Pianeta delivers a classic romantic dining experience. LOCAL Christy Hill Restaurant (located 15 minutes away) A local staple for more than 25 years, Christy Hill is renowned for its spectacular lake views and seasonal, California-meets-France cuisine. The restaurant s perch right near the lakeshore fosters a quintessential Tahoe atmosphere that s ideal for a meal of steak, fish, game, pasta and more.
