4 1 Introduction 1.1 Background This document provide the plan for completing the testing activities required for the Acceptance Test Plan of VODKA. VODKA is a tool to manage the financial accounts of student organizations within a school or university. It is described in greater detail in the Software Requirements Specification for VODKA. 1.2 Structure of the Document Section 2 - Describes the overall approach to the Acceptance Test Plan process Section 3 - Describes in more detail individual issues covered or not covered by the Acceptance Test Plan process Section 4 - Describes the criteria which have to be satisfied for the Acceptance Test Plan project Section 5 - Describes the roles and responsibilities of the staff members involved in the Acceptance Test Plan project Section 6 - Describes the test cases used during the Acceptance Test Plan 1.3 References Software Requirements Specification for VODKA 1.4 Glossary Test Team Leader - The person in charge of all the testers. Project Leader - The person in charge of the whole project. Client s Representatives - Client s Representatives are people who overlook the Acceptance Test Plan execution on behalf of the customers Software Requirements Specification - A Software Requirements Specification is a document which describes the behaviour of a system. Functional Requirements - Functional Requirements define the internal workings of the software. Unit Tests - A procedure in the software to validate that individual modules and other units of source code are working properly Integration Test - Integration Test is a test phase which is employed after the Unit Tests are validated and tests how all the different modules of a software system fit and work together with each other. System Test - System Test is conducted after Integration Test has been conducted to evaluate the system s compliance with its specified requirements 2 Test Approach and Constraints 2.1 Introduction This section describes the overall approach, particular techniques and testing tools which will be used during the Acceptance Test Plan of the VODKA and any constraints that may apply. 1
5 2.2 Test Objectives The Acceptance Test Plan process will prompt the client to evaluate VODKA and verify whether it performs in accordance with the client s requirements, listed in the Software Requirements Specification. 2.3 Test Structure The Acceptance Test Plan will consist of a subset of test cases and methods, previously utilized in the Unit Tests, Integration Test and System Test conducted on the VODKA. The test cases will be carefully selected and agreed upon by both the developer and the client, and will allow for the most adequate verification of the functional requirements of the VODKA, as listed in the Software Requirements Document, without the extensiveness of the full-scale System Test. It is essential that all appropriate Unit Tests, Integration Test and the System Test were successfully performed for VODKA prior to the Acceptance Test Plan and their results were reported and presented to the client. 3 Test Assumptions and Exclusions 3.1 Introduction This section provides greater details about what issues and features of VODKA will be covered by Acceptance Test Plan process, and what issues and features of VODKA will not be covered 3.2 Assumptions It is assumed that all issues covered by the Acceptance Test Plan were also previously addressed by the Unit Tests, Integration Test and System Test of VODKA. The Acceptance Test Plan will cover The functional requirements of the system listed in the Software Requirements Specification Usability of the system Consistency of the user related system documentation 3.3 Exclusions It is assumed that all issues not covered by the Acceptance Test Plan were previously addressed by Unit Tests, Integration Tests and System Tests of VODKA The Acceptance Test Plan will not cover The non-functional requirements of the system (except the aforementioned Usability) listed in the Software Requirements Specification Structural integrity of the source code. 4 Entry and Exit Criteria 4.1 Introduction This section lists the criteria which must be satisfied in order for the Acceptance Test Plan to begin, as well as the criteria which must be satisfied in order for the Acceptance Test Plan to stop. 2
6 4.2 Entry Criteria The Acceptance Test Plan can be initiated after the following preconditions are met VODKA has successfully undergone Unit Tests, Integration Test and System Test. The testing environment which satisfies the System Requirements of Software Requirements Specification has been setup and inspected by the client s representative A copy of the latest version of the Software Requirements Specification has been received A copy of the latest version of the user-related documentation has been received The latest released version of VODKA has been appropriately resourced. A consent of the Project Leader has been obtained. A consent of the Client has been obtained. A consent of the Test Team Leader has been obtained. 4.3 Exit Criteria The Acceptance Test Plan should be halted after either of the following All Priority 1 requirements were tested without any deviation from expected behavior. (Success) At least one Priority 1 requirement deviated from the documented specification. (Failure) By mutual agreement between Client s Representative and the Tester, in which both parties supervisors should be notified and the Acceptance Test Plan should be rescheduled for a later date. (Failure) 5 Testing Participants 5.1 Introduction This section describes the roles and responsibilities of the staff members involved in the Acceptance Test Plan, as well as the procedure of reporting the test results and any problems that came up during testing. 5.2 Roles and Responsibilities For the Acceptance Test Plan, the following roles were assumed by the following people Test Team Leader: Archit Baweja Client s Representative: A person in charge from the client s side who will overview the testing process. Tester: A person who will execute the use case tests. 5.3 Training Requirements All parties involved in the Acceptance Test Plan should be familiar with the user interface of VODKA, as well as with the system documentation and the Software Requirements Specification. 5.4 Problem Reporting Any problem pointed out by either the Client s Representative or the Tester must be documented and reported to the Test Team Leader. Later the problem report will be submitted to the project Leader, and addressed during a periodic or urgent staff meeting depending on the severity of the problems. 3
7 5.5 Progress Reporting The Acceptance Test Plan Report will be compiled once, after testing process is finished by the Test Team Leader and submitted to the Project Leader. 6 Testing Project Test Cases 6.1 Introduction The test cases are distributed in sections covering functionality elements and use cases in the Software Requirements Specification. Each of the following test cases is in the format Name - The name of the test case - Conditions needed to initiate the test case - The actions expected form a tester - The expected outcome of the test case 6.2 Test cases for all users The following test cases are for all user accounts Logging In The user has a web browser opened visiting the VODKA web page The tester enters his username and password in the appropriate fields and submits for verification. The tester is logged in to the system if the verification is successful or The tester is not logged in to the system if the verification is not successful Accounts Information Account Transactions Summary Transaction Creation The user has logged into the VODKA system None The tester is presented with the Accounts Summary page The tester is at the Accounts Summary page The tester selects an account for which he has access privileges. The tester is presented with the Account Transactions Summary page for the selected account. The tester selects the Create Transaction option. The tester is presented the Create Transaction page. The tester is at the Create Transaction page. The tester enters in all the details for a transaction. Then clicks Save. The transaction is created. 4
8 6.2.5 Transaction Modification Transaction Deletion Attaching a file Searching for transactions Labeling a transaction Commenting on a transaction The tester selects the Change Transaction button next to a transaction. The tester is presented the Change Transaction page. The tester is at the Change Transaction page. The tester enters in all the new information for the transaction. Then clicks Change. The transaction is modified. The tester selects the Delete Transaction button next to a transaction. The tester must select Delete Now or Cancel Deletion in a new window presented. The tester is presented the Confirm Transaction Deletion window. The tester is presented a Confirm Transaction Deletion dialog box. The tester selects Delete Now button or Cancel Deletion button. The transaction is deleted or not deleted. The tester is presented the Account Transactions Summary page. The tester selects Attach File button. The tester is presented the Attach File to Transaction page. The tester is presented the Attach File to Transaction page. The tester selects the Browse button and selects a file to upload. The selected file is uploaded and attached to the transaction. The tester is presented the Attach File to Transaction page. The tester selects the Add another file button. A new field to select another file to upload is added on the page. The tester enters a search criterion in the search field at the top of the page. The page filters the listed transactions based on the search criterion provided. The tester selects a transaction, and then selects a label from a list. The transaction gets labelled. The tester selects a transaction and selects the Add Comment button. The tester is presented the Add Comment dialog. The tester is presented the Add Comment dialog. The tester enters a comment to add to the transaction, and selects the Save Comment button. The comment is saved for that transaction. 5
9 Financial Reports The tester is presented the Account Transactions Summary page. The tester selects the Financial Reports option. The tester is presented the the Financial Reports page. The tester is presented the Financial Reports page. The tester picks the appropriate time period and type of financial report for the selected account. They are described in more detail in Section 3 of the Software Requirements Specification The tester is presented a financial report for the specified time period and type. 6.3 Test cases for Organization Advisor and Finance Managers The following test cases are for the software features that are only available to Organization Advisors and Finance Managers Administrator Page Create Organization Member The tester is presented the Account Summary page. The tester is logged in with a user account having Organization Advisor and Finance Manager access privileges. The tester selects the Administrator option. The tester is shown the Administrator page. The tester is presented the Administrator page. The tester selects the Create Organization Member option. The tester is shown the Create Organization Member page. The tester is presented the Create Organization Member page. The tester fills in the appropriate information for a new user. The tester then either selects Create Organization Member or Cancel Creation button. The tester creates a new Organization Member account if the tester selects Create Organization Member button. Otherwise the new Organization Member account creation is cancelled Deactivate Organization Member The tester is presented the Administrator page. The tester selects the Deactivate Organization Member option. The tester is shown the Deactivate Organization Member page. The tester is presented the Deactivate Organization Member Account page. The tester selects a specific Organization Member account to deactivate. The tester is presented a confirmation dialog to confirm his action. The tester is presented the confirmation dialog to confirm deactivation of a specific Organization Member account. The tester clicks the Deactivate Now button. or The tester clicks the Cancel Deactivation button. The Organization Member account is deactivated. or The Organization Member account is not deactivated. 6
10 6.4 Test cases for Finance Managers only The following test cases are for the software features that are only available to a tester logged in with Finance Manager s privileges Create a Financial Account Audit a Financial Account The tester is presented the Administrator page. The tester selects the Create a Financial Account option. The tester is presented the Create Financial Account page. The tester is presented the Create a Financial Account page. The tester fills in the appropriate information required for a new financial account. Then clicks Create Now. A new financial account is created. The tester is presented the Administrator page. The tester selects the Audit a Financial Account option. The tester is presented the Audit Financial Account page. The tester is presented the Audit Financial Account page. The tester selects a specific financial account under his/her jurisdiction. The tester is given a summary of list of all transactions for that financial account for up to 7 years past Deactivate a Financial Account The tester is presented the Administrator page. The tester selects the Deactivate a Financial Account option. The tester is presented the Deactivate Financial Account page. The tester is presented the Deactivate Financial Account page. The tester selects a specific financial account to deactivate. The tester is presented a confirmation dialog to confirm his action. The tester is presented the confirmation dialog to confirm deactivation of a specific financial account.
