CALL TO ORDER: The March 27, 2013 meeting of the Graduate Education Committee meeting was called to order by Chair Dresdow at 1:25 p.m. Present: Bryan Beamer, Renee Chandler, Sally Dresdow, Michelle Hamilton, Jim Keyes, Carol Mooney, Christine Peterson, Julie Peterson, Heidi Rabeneck, Deanna Schultz, Kevin W. Tharp, Joseph Wright, Janice Coker and Amy Gillett. Guests: Amanda Barnett, Ted Bensen, Kat Lui, Bob Peters and Carol Seaborn II. Minutes of Previous Meeting Motion (Schultz/Beamer) to approve the minutes of the February 27, 2013 meeting. Motion passed. III. Program Changes, Additions, Deletions A. Motion (Tharp/Hamilton) to approve the MS Food and Nutritional Sciences program revision as presented. Motion passed. Carol explained that a non-thesis option will be added to the program. Two new courses would then need to be taken to replace the Plan A or Plan B paper. The program will change from a 40 credit program to a 34 credit program. B. Motion (J. Peterson/ C. Peterson) to approve the MS Operations and Supply Management program revision as presented. Motion passed. Jim explained that the program was last revised in 2011 to fit with accreditation. Enrollment has increased in the program. Concentrations are now being developed for this program. This program will remain at 34 total credits.

Motion (Wright/Rabeneck) to approve the two new courses FN 728 Introduction to Food and Nutritional Sciences Research and FN 729 Research Proposal for Food and Nutritional Sciences as presented. Motion passed. Carol explained that these two courses will be used for the non-thesis option in the MS in Food and Nutritional Sciences program. C&D. Motion (Mooney/Chandler) to approve the two new courses INMGT 712 Operational Disruption Management and INMGT 718 Advanced Quality Management as presented. Motion passed. Jim stated that INMGT 712 is a course that the advisory board highly recommended to offer for students in the MS in Operations and Supply Management program. Jim explained that INMGT 718 is currently being offered as a one-time offering, E&F. Motion (Tharp/Schultz) to approve the following two courses: HDFS 365/565 Family Resource Management and HDFS 450/650 Family Policy with changes. Motion passed. Amanda explained that course HDFS 360/560 will no longer be offered as it is no longer required in the new HDFS undergraduate program. The material from HDFS 360/560 will be integrated into three other HDFS courses HDFS 365/565 and HDFS 450/650 being two of them. G,H,I. Motion (Keyes/Rabeneck) to approve the following three courses: CMG 355/555 epublishing, CMG 368/568 Print Optimization and CMG 482/682 Graphics Workflow Automation with changes. Motion passed. Ted explained that there were revisions to the undergraduate program and are replacing old core courses. He also said that not a lot of graduate students take these courses (unless they are looking for specific courses for their Master s program). J, K, L. Motion (Wright/Tharp) to approve the following three courses: GCM 351/551 Cross-Media Marketing Systems (new title: Cross-Media Personalization), GCM 362/562 Screen and Specialty Print Manufacturing (new title: Screen and Specialty Printing) and GCM 367/567 Color Management with changes. Motion passed. Ted stated that there were minor revisions to these courses and that GCM 362/562 had not been updated in some time.

Motion (Rabeneck/Mooney) to approve the following four courses: GCM 380/580 Graphic Communication Estimating and Scheduling (new title: Cross-Media Estimating and Planning), GCM 443/643 Graphic Communications Practicum (new title: Cross-Media Practicum), GCM 445/645 Publication Production and GCM 495/695 Graphic Communications Seminar (new title: Cross Media Seminar) with changes. Motion passed. Ted stated that graduate students commonly take the practicum course. IV. Graduate Faculty Nominations Motion (J. Peterson/Beamer) to approve Andrew Williams for graduate faculty status. Motion passed. V. Other Business A. Graduate Policies Sally said that the graduate policies that were changed to include the new EdD in Career & Technical Education program were reviewed at the Faculty Senate Executive meeting on Tuesday, March 26 and will be forwarded to the Faculty Senate meeting that is scheduled for Tuesday, April 9. B. Graduate Faculty Nominations A question was brought up in regards to program directors approving graduate faculty members as a committee member only (and not as a research adviser or chair of a committee). Program directors can make that decision when they sign the Appointment of Research Adviser form. VI. Adjournment The Graduate Education Committee meeting adjourned at 2:20 p.m.
