2 VOLUME 6, ISSUE 8 DESERT OASIS NEWS Maintenance Messages Page 2 Got a pest that just won t leave? Desert Oasis Communities offers pest control spraying once a month in your home, if needed. This month the pest control will be here Friday, August, 15th. The last day to sign-up is Thursday, August 14th. For more details, or to schedule your appointment, please call the maintenance office at: Check your Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI): To test your GFCIs, plug a small appliance (a nightlight, for example) into each GFCI. Press the test button, which should click and shut off the nightlight. The reset button should also pop out when you press the test button; when you press reset, the appliance should come back on. Messages from the Grounds Crew: 1. If you are responsible for watering trees in your yard, make sure you are deep root watering. Deep root watering is placing your hose on the base of the tree on a slow drip for roughly 30 minutes, at least once every 5 days. This will help water the roots of the tree and keep the roots close to the tree, and not branching out in search of other water sources. 2. This time of year is especially hard on plants and trees. Be sure to keep pruning to a minimum, and only accomplish enough to maintain the shape of your trees and plants. 3. Mowing your grass at a height of 3 in. should help conserve water, and shade the ground so that water doesn't evaporate as fast. Remember not to bag your clippings in the months of June-August. This helps keep moisture in the soil; also known as mulching. 4. Last but not least always remember to weed eat. It helps deter ssssneaky ssssnakes! Preventative Maintenance Desert Oasis Communities maintenance technicians will be working on the 2nd quarter preventative maintenance schedule. The schedule for the quarter is as follows: Hardy, B Hardy, , 821A - 822B, 943B, Please watch for a notice in your mailbox informing you that our technicians will be in your neighborhoods during that week. Be advised that if an appointment needs to be scheduled please call the Maintenance Shop at: or Angel at: AMedel@themichaelsorg.com., otherwise the technician will have authorization to enter your home to perform the preventative

This is a great opportunity to get out, enjoy some time with your neighbors, and visit with the Desert Oasis Communities staff. Here, you also have the opportunity to learn about community events, and to open lines of communication with the staff in an informal way. So meet us in the lobby of the Community Center on Friday, August 1st at 10:00am! Come take advantage of this free brunch, and opportunity to mingle with your neighbors and the Say Hello to Our New Friends! Our new Grounds member is Jimmy! He is highly motivated to keep our yards, parks and streets looking fabulous! We are grateful to have such a hard working, determined new member on our team! If you see him around the area, don t hesitate to say hello! Building Summer Fun Into a PCS Move For service members and their families with permanent change of station orders, this summer is going to be busy. But a PCS move can be a great opportunity for some fun. By combining leave and PCS-related travel, service members, between duty stations, often have the opportunity to take a much-needed vacation. Military support programs offer many low-cost recreational options for service members and their families. So, before the boxes are packed and loaded up on the truck, military members will want to take a look at all the ways they can put some fun into their move. We gave away wonderful prizes as some of our local businesses donated items such as a $100 Wal-Mart Gift We are currently revising the card, Home Depot donated $100 Resident Handbook.
