Applications are invited for the following post: STUDENT ACHEVEMENT COORDNATOR (MATERNTY COVER) Salary 38,896 to 42,488 per annum pro-rata Commencement date mid/late February 2016 We are looking to recruit a Student Achievement Coordinator for a period of maternity cover to take a lead role in the organisation and delivery of academic skills tuition and support to students. The postholder is responsible for the organisation and delivery of additional learning skills support to students on all programmes at the University to promote individual student achievement during their period of study. This role also manages and coordinates the work of Student Achievement Advisers and Peer Learning Mentors. As well as students, the team provide help and advice to academic staff, as well as staff in other areas of student support. This involves working closely with academic departments and making a significant contribution to the development and enhancement of blended learning through the use and production of academic skills resources. The postholder also works with the nternational Development department on the co-ordination of nternational Summer School, nternational Foundation Year, Pre-Masters Programmes, and presessional and in-sessional English support. Therefore, experience of supporting these types of courses and/or those with English as a second/other language would be advantageous. Well-developed management and communication skills together with enthusiasm and an innovative, flexible approach to the role are essential. Applicants will also need a good honours degree and a teaching qualification, experience of tuition in higher education and a good, up-todate knowledge of how students learn, e.g. in blended learning formats and online, as well as in more traditional environments. Experience of working with students from widening participation backgrounds would also be useful. 5 LEEDS TRNTY UNVERSTY JOB DESCRPTON JOB TTLE: DEPARTMENT: Student Achievement Coordinator (Maternity cover) Learning Hub GRADE: Grade 8 (points 37 40) HOURS OF WORK: RESPONSBLE TO: RESPONSBLE FOR: NTERNAL CONTACTS: EXTERNAL CONTACTS: PURPOSE OF THE POST: Hours of work will be 35 hours per week Monday to Friday 9.00 am to 5.00 pm with one hour unpaid break for lunch each day. Holders of posts at this level are expected to work the hours necessary for the full performance of the duties outlined below, subject to a minimum of 35 hours per week. Head of Academic Development Learning Hub staff Students, Academic staff and Support staff. Other HEs, local and regional organisations. To be responsible for the organisation and delivery of additional learning skills support to students on all programmes at the University to promote individual student achievement during their period of study. To manage and coordinate the work of Learning Hub staff in the provision of help and advice to academic staff as well as staff in other areas of student support. To work with the Director for nternational Development on the co-ordination of an nternational Summer School, nternational Foundation Year, Pre- Masters Programmes, and pre-sessional and in-sessional English support. MAN DUTES AND RESPONSBLTES: 1. To manage and deliver student-centred academic skills support to students (including those on programmes of study on the nternational Foundation Year and Summer Schools) to include writing preparation, delivery and assessment on non-credit bearing modules. 2. To manage and coordinate the work of Learning Hub staff to include Student Achievement Advisers, Administrative staff and the Peer Learning Mentor team including recruitment, workload planning, training and conducting ASRs. 3. To ensure that Learning Hub staff work in close liaison with academic departments in taking proactive measures to assist in the identification and support of disengaged or underachieving students 4. To oversee the development and preparation of Learning and Academic Skills resources (audio, video, web-based, paper-based) and encourage the integration of academic skills into the curriculum. 5. To ensure that students from non-uk and widening participation backgrounds receive support in making cultural and incremental learning transitions, in order to meet the standards and expectations required at UK HE level.

To ensure that the requirements of students (including nternational students, who have English as a second language) who require extra support with their English and study skills in order to meet HE requirements are adequately addressed. 7. To identify and deal with referrals from academic staff and other support services. 8. To contribute to the development and enhancement of blended learning through the use and production of academic skills resources. 9. To contribute to initiatives and longer term developments to improve student retention and progression as well as student achievement. 10. To ensure records of Learning Hub team activities are kept and to analyse data and prepare reports measuring the effectiveness of Learning Hub activities as required. 11. To ensure effective liaison by the Learning Hub across the campus so as facilitate learning skills support and curriculum and pedagogical development 12. To ensure that Learning Hub services and activities are effectively promoted and publicised and to liaise with the Marketing department as required in this regard. 13. To participate in University committees and working groups as required in furtherance of the duties and responsibilities of the post and the wider goals of the University 14. To manage the relevant Learning Hub budgets as required. 15. To apply the University s Equality and Diversity Policy in the postholder s own area of responsibility and in his/her general conduct. 16.
