8 Project activities 1) Developing VBN Joint Approach to Innovation Promotion VBN Joint Approach to Innovation Promotion developed through analysing RISs in partner regions Results: - Better understanding of the structure of regional innovation systems and their main elements on the VBN zone - Improved knowledge on possibilities for regional and transnational collaboration in the future - Comparable innovation performance indicators for each region 25 October

9 Project activities (2) 2) Capacity Building for RIS Actors Regional training events, seminars and study tours were organized to ensure involvement and capacity building of all key innovation system actors including SMEs Results: capacities of key innovation actors on the VBN zone were improved and VBN innovation networks on the regional and transnational level were strengthened 25 October

10 Project activities (3) 3) Piloting Innovation Framework Actions and Exchanging Experiences New innovation promotion tools and concepts were developed and piloted by project partners and shared with interested actors in the Baltic Sea Region and in the European Union Results: improved knowledge of the RIS actors in the VBN zone and the EU on innovative tools, concepts and good practices in developing the RIS 25 October

19 BSR InnoReg Strengthening Innovation Governance in Baltic Nonmetropolitan Regions through Transnational Cooperation BSR InnoReg utilizes the results of VBN InnoReg project ( ) whose main outcome was a common understanding of regional innovation system dynamics and challenges as well as a joint development vision for Baltic nonmetropolitan regions. Based on VBN InnoReg results, the capability of the innovation systems to secure availability of skilled work force and support the creation and reform of SMEs are regarded as the main challenges among Baltic nonmetropolitan regions. To address these challenges and to operationalize the joint development vision, BSR InnoReg aims at improving innovation governance and enhancing attractive and complementary innovation support environments in Baltic non metropolitan regions. 24. syyskuuta

23 Project example: Enhancing Intellectual Property Rights Competence and Cooperation in St. Petersburg, Finland, Denmark and Sweden Aims at enhancing Nordic-Russian cooperation in protection and enforcement of intellectual property rights (IPR) in developing IPR education and in raising public awareness on importance of protecting intellectual property Contributes to the overall development of the IPR system in SPb by strengthening capacities and knowledge of key IPR actors in SPb Facilitates exchange and dissemination of information on Russian IPR system in the Nordic countries 24. syyskuuta
