Vin de pays Les Grands Augustins Les Becs Fins Vin de Pays d Oc 100% Syrah 20 years Stainless steel vats Mechanical Les Causses June 2001 Bordelaise Altec A great personality. Quite coloured. The tannins are both smooth and powerful. Ripe, stewed, fruit, on the nose. Animal - wild - touch on the finish. Cinsault 50% Grenache 25% - Syrah 25% 13,8 20 to 40 years Vats Mechanical Rolled stones June 2001 tradition 45/24 Fruit, only fruit, in this magnificent, highly coloured Cuvée! Very powerful, quite complete. All you can expect from a fairly priced. A heart stopper! Guy Louis Blanc 2000 Crispy, perfumed, meaty, this Guy-Louis Blanc is growing Vintage after Vintage Condrieu Marsanne - Roussanne 40 to 50 years Pure new oak. Boutes barrel-making By hand. Light filtration Gervans hills tradition Condrieu 100% Viognier years By hand. Light filtration St-Pierre de Bœuf, on hillside More on the Terroir than just on the typical aromas of apricot and violet. Very beautiful Cuvée which will gain in ageing.
Costières de Nîmes Costières de Nîmes Syrah - Grenache 13,8 25 years Pure new oak, fine texture, Boutes barrel-making St-Gilles, rolled stones Tradition Less rustic than 1998, less distinctive than Very beautiful Syrah, in an international style. Powerful, coloured, with opulent and ripe tannins. Good value for money. Minervois Les Causses Minervois 13,5 20 to 30 years La Livinière Tradition More classic than the atypical This Cuvée, less concentrated but quite refined, will seduce the most demanding Wine lovers. Vacqueyras v.v. The Style of the 1998! Powerful, tannic, yet polished. A great Cuvée. Gigondas Vacqueyras Syrah10% - Grenache 90% Over 60 years for the Grenache Rolled stones on the Garrigues Gigondas Grenache 75% - Syrah Mourvèdre to 80 years for the holdest Les Dentelles, Garrigues, Village, Beaumelles Five estates Superb Cuvée! True to its origin : black as ink, very ripe, with a seductive rustic touch.
Too often, an Appellation where the ordinary stands alongside the excellent! I must acknowledge that 2000 has a great deal of Style and distinction. Quite superior to Maybe the most successful southern Wines. v.v. Grenache 90% - Syrah Mourvèdre Over 40 years Grès d Orange, Courthezon, Montredon Four estates Grenache 95% - Others 5% 14,5 Over 60 years Pure new Tronçais oak Magic casks Rolled stones, silica Small yields, a concentrate of Great Grenache! Crozes-Hermitage Coteaux On Crozes-Hermitage, it is always a challenge to let the Terroir speak. We try and succeed with this Cuvée evoking the minerals of the attractive Syrah, so typical of the northern Vallée du Rhône. Saint-Joseph v.v. Les Roches Crozes-Hermitage 12,8 20 to 50 years By hand Gervans and Larnage Coteaux Tradition Saint-Joseph 100% Syrah 12,8 25 to 60 years By hand Sarras, St-Pierre de Bœuf, Châteaubourg Still the same origins. Riper than 1999, quite as coloured, although not so dense. Smoother, with a lot of fruit. Less acidity than the superb 1999.
Cornas Coteaux Fine, with a lot of fruit. As big as Shows that the Vines are located on steep hills. Cornas v.v. Cornas 100% Syrah 20 to 40 years Geynale, Chaillots Cornas 100% Serine 100 years Pure new oak, Tronçais Sabarotte The Côte-Rôtie of the Cornas, in the words of the Winemakers of this Appellation! Often the most refined, sometimes the most concentrated too, as in A sheer marvel! Côte-Rôtie The berries were extra ripe, especially where the yields were reasonable. The acidity is rather low for a Côte-Rôtie, wich is far from a problem, as the 1997 have shown. Quite beautiful Cuvée, with these unique aromas, unrivalled, and so typical of the Côte-Rôtie. Hermitage Côte-Rôtie 100% Syrah 20 to 60 years Mostly Côte Brune Six estates Winter 2002 Hermitage 100% Syrah to 80 years Pure new oak, Tronçais Beaumes, Méal, Diognières, Greffieux Winter 2002 Even more packed with fruit, more solar than Côte-Rôtie! An impressive concentration. The most sought after Wine in the Cellars. Unfortunatly, the most expensive too. Quite beautiful Cuvée, possibly greater than 1998.
Hermitage blanc Hermitage 100% Marsanne years Pure new oak By hand. Light filtration Piérelles Hermitage Blanc is for the wine lover conscious that he should wait for the right time to taste the wine, often more than 10 years time! If the bottle is opened too early, beware of the disillusions. Rasteau v.v. Village Rasteau Village Grenache 75% - Syrah 10% Carignan 15% 14,5 Over 50 years Blue and yellow clays. On hillside tradition Quite as powerful as 1999, with a greater finesse. A shining Cuvée, thanks to its inner authenticity. The ripest of all 2000 Cuvées. Impressive. Guy-Louis Very powerful Cuvée, how strong? It is too early to tell. Superbly ripe, deep coloured, of course. Long and rich finish. Luberon Bastide de Rhodarès Syrah - Mourvèdre Carignan 50% Grenache 50% 20 to 60 years for the Grenache Rasteau - Gigondas St Pierre de Bœuf - Valréas Five estates tradition Luberon Grenache - Syrah 40 years for the Grenache, 20 years for the Syrah All in casks. 1/3 new oak. Cadenet, rolled stones Bordelaise As in 1998, the Wine is packed with fruit, quite powerful, over, yet perfectly balanced. Deep colour, very fine tannins. Vinified, raised, bottled by Tardieu-Laurent.
Guy-Louis Costières de Nîmes Côtes du Rhône Syrah - Northern Syrah Grenache 40 to 50 years St Pierre de Bœuf - Valréas Tradition A lot of power and colour. A refined Wine. With its aromas of blackberry, its spiciness, it will reach summits! Costières de Nîmes Syrah 80% - Grenache 20% 13,5 25 years Pure new oak. Boutes barrel-making Saint-Gilles, rolled stones Tradition Quite classic, the Wine still displays a lot of colour and power, in the very Style of the Appellation, with its pleasant gentle rustic touch Vintage Minervois Les Causses Minervois 13,5 20 to 30 years La Livinière Tradition Quite personal a Style, rather atypical of the Appellation, with a nose of over ripened pear This Wine will not appeal to everyone As far as I am concerned, I find it amazing! Vacqueyras v.v. Vacqueyras Grenache 90% - Syrah 10% Over 60 years Rolled stones on the Garrigues (scrubs) A most talented Vigneron for a really distinctive, unrivalled, Vacqueyras!
Gigondas Gigondas Grenache 75% - Syrah Mourvèdre to 80 years for the oldest Les Dentelles, Garrigues, Village, Beaumelles Four estates After I had doubtful initial approach, I can state that this Wine has gained its full dimension in the casks. Now I believe that this Cuvée will - at least - equal the 1998! Surprise! Grenache 90% - Syrah Mourvèdre 10% 25 to 80 years Le Grès d Orange, Montredon Commentaire sur la cuvée au 01/01/2001 A lot of fruit. Luxurious tannins. Smooth and distinctive. Quite round Vintage v.v. Grenache 95% - Others 5% 14,5 Over 60 years Rolled stones, silica Nothing but the juice of old vines! Classy, fine, tasteful, opulent. A great Cuvée, same size as Crozes-Hermitage Coteaux Crozes-Hermitage 20 to 50 years Gervans and Larnage Coteaux Tradition The best Crozes-Hermitage since Tardieu-Laurent was founded. Of course, the Vintage is great, but it is not the only explanation Beautiful Cuvée!
Saint-Joseph v.v. Les Roches Cornas Coteaux Saint-Joseph 20 to 30 years Sarras, Châteaubourg A Wine full of muscles, with no angles - unlike the Subtle, refined, classy. Its minerals on the nose evoke the spiciness of Côte-Rôtie. Cornas 20 to 40 years Hills A beautiful Syrah, quite ripe. This Cuvée is very heartening, without the usual austerity of the Cornas. It has gained a lot from the élevage Vintage Côte-Rôtie Côte-Rôtie 25 to 50 years Mostly Côte Brune Five estates The most successful appellation in the North! Great Vintage, great potential The astounding nose of the very essence of Côte-Rôtie le magnum de Côte-Rôtie v.v. Côte-Rôtie Serine 100% Over 50 years Landonne, Rosier, Grande Places Not determined to date Magnum Sardinia An extreme concentration for a Côte-Rôtie. Inexpressible scents of minerals. It is no longer a Wine, but the most inspired combinaison of the Terroir, the Serine, and Vignerons
1999 Vintage Hermitage Hermitage to 80 years Pure new oak, Tronçais Magik casks Beaumes, Méal, Diognières, Greffieux Four estates Winter 2001 The same origins as usual. This Hermitage benefits from Dom. Laurent Tronçais Magic Casks ; they reveal and underline the non common refinement of this Cuvée. A long keeping Wine.
1999 Vintage The divine surprise of the elevage In the northern Rhône, the Wines display a great richness, with high degrees of alcohol, and, sometimes, over mature super ripe flavours. The colours are deep, in the violet range. The tannins, in some Cuvées, prove to be impressive, more by their subtlety than by their rough power. Thanks to good acidity, these Wines will be long keeping! In the southern Rhône, very good classic year. Dry Spring, resulting in a lack of water. As in the northern Rhône, the Wines in the south show an amazing richness. They have become denser and denser in the course of the élevage, adding a great aromatic complexity to their body. Beautiful deep colours. A green harvest, then a fairly late harvest, were compulsory
Luck is really on our side! After 1998 and 1999, 2000 comes as one more Great Year in an impressive succession of brilliant Vintages. In the southern Rhône, after a very cold July, August has been very hot. Phenolic maturity was reached fairly rapidity, mainly in the traditionaly earliest regions, with very high degrees of alcohol, which has given very powerful Wines, creamy and meaty, with beautiful, smooth, tannins. The yields, for some Appellations, were comfortable, but the Vintage has excused excessive generosity, giving very high class Wines, even superior to the 1999! The northern Rhône has very well succeeded too, with very mature Wines. The light lack of acidity for some Cuvées will give them a southern style! The Wines will be easy to raise. In my view, they will gain a lot of volume in the course of the 20 to 22 months they will spend in the cellars. Even though the thorough fullness of the 1999 cannot be reached, 2000 will come out as one of the most successful Vintages in the last ten years.
The harvest of grapes is done entirely by hand
The Domain de Longueroche s vineyards are situated in village of St-Andre de Roquelongue in the very heart of the Corbières region, and more exactly in the land called Fontfroide, land blessed by the gods.
