3 Bouclé Lace Fabric Set Up Your Machine Wind a few bobbins with the Sulky 30 Wt. Cotton Blendables. Use a balanced tension for this project. If your machine is threaded with 30 Wt. Sulky Cotton Blendables Thread, insert a 90/14 Topstitch Needle If your machine is threaded with 12 Wt. Sulky Cotton Blendables Thread, insert a 100/16 Jeans Needle 5 5 Bouclé Lace Fabric Set Up Your Machine Attach an appliqué foot similar to the one shown or an open-toe appliqué foot. 6 6

4 Bouclé Lace Fabric Prepare the Fabri-Solvy Use Sulky KK 2000 Temporary Spray Adhesive to secure 2 layers of Sulky Fabri-Solvy Stabilizer together. Tip: Turn one layer 90º from the other for better stability in the project. 7 7 Bouclé Lace Fabric Draw a 3 square onto the Fabri-Solvy sandwich with a water soluble marker. Shown is a 3 x 3 square. 8 8

5 Bouclé Lace Fabric Select a stipple stitch or something similar. 9 9 Bouclé Lace Fabric Stitch as programmed on the machine. Stitch length increased which is preferred for 30 Wt. and heavier threads

6 Bouclé Lace Fabric Pull the bobbin thread to the top. Set the needle thread and bobbin thread off to the side. Don t trim the threads for your test square because they will serve as a reference point for you. Tip: Turn off auto-fix on your machine if you have that feature Bouclé Lace Fabric Stitch along one long side of the line, so that the stitching is inside the body of the your drawn pattern

7 Bouclé Lace Fabric First row of stitching complete Bouclé Lace Fabric At the end, stop with the needle down and turn the stabilizer half-way around to stitch back over the previous line. Allow the stippling stitches to overlap about 1/8 to 1/

8 Bouclé Lace Fabric Second row of stitching overlapping the first row of stitching Bouclé Lace Fabric When you reach the starting side again, turn and repeat. Make sure your stitching will overlap the previous row by 1/8 to 1/

9 Bouclé Lace Fabric Continue until the pattern is covered with one layer of overlapping stitches. Note: Don t worry about that little extra space before the line on the left Bouclé Lace Fabric Turn the fabric a quarter turn. Repeat the sewing process of overlapping the stitches across the first layer of stitching

10 Bouclé Lace Fabric This is like weaving your fabric, as you use the stippling stitch to create the fabric. Continue stitching the second layer of stitching to fill the pattern area. Note: Yes it looks a little messy and strange now, but just wait! Bouclé Lace Fabric Create the 3rd layer of stitching by rotating the stabilizer one quarter turn. Sew across the pattern area once more, overlapping the stitches as you go. l l l l l Note: Remember you have your tails for reference for your beginning point. l l 20 20

11 Bouclé Lace Fabric l l l l l l l l l Notice the thread tails, use this as a reference of where you started Bouclé Lace Fabric When you finished the 3rd layer, check your work. If you see a lot of open areas, then turn your project 1/4 again (90º) and sew another layer. You may need to sew three or more layers to create a heavy enough body of fabric for your pattern

12 Bouclé Lace Fabric Here s a sample of a nicely filled square Bouclé Lace Fabric Stitch as programmed on the machine. Stitch length increased to do the edge stitching to complete the project. Note: The flatter, right edge, will follow the inside edge of your bouclé square

13 Bouclé Lace Fabric With the elongated pattern, finish the pattern piece by edge-stitching around all 4 raw edges of the pattern piece TWICE! Remember to keep the flat part of the stitch on the outside edge. Elongated pattern Bouclé Lace Fabric Finished top side. Trim your thread tails now

14 Bouclé Lace Fabric Finished back Bouclé Lace Fabric Remove the Fabri-Solvy Fill a container with warm water. Add a few tablespoons of liquid detergent. Place your completed clutch in the sudsy water. Agitate for a few minutes. Let it set in the water until all of the stabilizer is gone. Rinse with clean water. Lay flat to dry. Note: Notice that the fabric relaxed about 1/4 after rinsing the stabilizer away

15 Bouclé Lace Fabric This scarf was made with Sulky 40 wt. Rayon Thread for a lighter look Bouclé Lace Fringe Layer 2 pieces of Fabri-Solvy together. Draw 2 horizontal lines 3 apart; 6 vertical lines 1/2 apart

16 Bouclé Lace Fringe With the presser foot centered on the line, stitch a row of stipple stitches (the same stitch used previously) across the heading of the fringe Bouclé Lace Fringe When you come to the end, rotate the stabilizer and sew over the previous stitching until you reach the starting point

17 Bouclé Lace Fringe When you reach the starting point, rotate the stabilizer, and sew the stipple stitches along the first line and back. Make sure the presser foot is centered on the line. Bottom line is a reference only and is not stitched. Bottom of the fringe. X X X X Bouclé Lace Fringe Continue pivoting and sewing along each line of fringe until finished. 19 Bouclé Lace Fringe Complete fringe back Tip: Have fun and be creative with your thread choices. Experiment!! Bouclé Lace Fabric I used a favorite hat to make my pattern for these, but you could use a purchased cap pattern, too. The brim is double-stitched

24 Bouclé Lace Clutch Supply List Note: For a reversible clutch you will need one button for the outside and one for the reverse side. Use one color thread on top and a different color in the bobbin Bouclé Lace Clutch Hoop 2 layers of Sulky Fabri-Solvy Stabilizer. Transfer the 1FrontPurse design to your embroidery machine

25 Bouclé Lace Clutch Thread your needle with 30 wt. or 12 wt. Sulky Cotton Blendables thread for the outside of your purse. Insert the proper needle for the thread. 90/14 Topstitch Needle for 30 wt. 100/16 Jeans Needle for 12 wt. Load a bobbin filled with 30 wt. Cotton Blendables for the inside of the purse Bouclé Lace Clutch Stitch out the first section of the purse

26 Bouclé Lace Clutch Remove the hoop from the machine. Using a water soluble marker, make note of the left & right sides of the design. Remove the stabilizer from the hoop and set aside. Smooth Rough with a raw edge where sides join Bouclé Lace Clutch Prepare to stitch the next section of the purse, 2BodyPurse. When the first color stop is complete, remove the hoop from the machine, but do not unhoop the stabilizer

27 Bouclé Lace Clutch Lay the embroidery hoop on a flat work surface. Take 1FrontPurse and place Left Right Brackets the RIGHT hand side on top of the hooped stabilizer over the open brackets. The design will cover the brackets. Pin the sections together. Place the embroidery hoop back on the machine. Brackets Bouclé Lace Clutch Continue stitching out the 2BodyPurse design. Color 2 will seam the 2 pieces together. When it has finished embroidering, remove the hoop from the machine and unhoop the stabilizer. Set aside

28 Prepare to stitch the next section of the purse, 3FlapPurse. Remove the hoop from the machine after the first color stop. Place the two previously stitched-together sections of the purse within the brackets. Line up the 3 sections and pin together. Make sure each color section matches. 29 Bouclé Lace Clutch Set your machine up for standard sewing. Trim away the excess stabilizer from the clutch. Locate the first seam. This is the center bottom of the clutch. Secure the seams with a reinforced zig-zag stitch Bouclé Lace Fabric Remove the Fabri-Solvy Fill a container with warm water. Add a few tablespoons of liquid detergent. Place your completed clutch in the sudsy water. Agitate for a few minutes. Let it set in the water until all of the stabilizer is gone. Rinse with clean water. Lay flat to dry

30 Bouclé Lace Clutch The embroidery design stitched out the button hole and will open up once the stabilizer is removed. If you want a reversible clutch, stitch out the button cover designs twice. Optional: You can use the bobbin thread in the needle and stitch out one button cover. Cover one or both 3/4 buttons according to the manufacturer s instructions Bouclé Lace Fabric 60 60
