The Lord Is Come GOD DECLARES HIS LAW Reading of the Law Leviticus 19:-8 When you offer a sacrifice of peace offerings to the LORD, you shall offer it so that you may be accepted. 6 It shall be eaten the same day you offer it or on the day after, and anything left over until the third day shall be burned up with fire. 7 If it is eaten at all on the third day, it is tainted; it will not be accepted, 8 and everyone who eats it shall bear his iniquity, because he has profaned what is holy to the LORD, and that person shall be cut off from his people. Silent Prayer of Confession WE RESPOND TO GOD S LAW Confession of Sin (Unison): Heavenly Father, our King and God, you have set us apart for yourself. Yet, we run from our holiness! 2

3 We have treasured sin in our own hearts, harbored hatred in our souls, and pursued our own selfish desires. We have done our good deeds to be seen by others and failed to seek your glory and pleasure. Have mercy on us, Father, for our many sins. Purify our hearts by your Holy Spirit. We repent of our idolatries and return to you, our heavenly King, for mercy, life, and peace. Grant us release from our sins and deeper love and obedience to you. Rule in our hearts by your Holy Spirit. Forgive our sins for Christ Jesus has died for sinners (Rom :6). GOD DECLARES HIS GOSPEL Reading of the Gospel: Revelation 1:-6 and [grace and peace] from Jesus Christ the faithful witness, the firstborn of the dead, and the ruler of kings on earth. To him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by his blood 6 and made us a kingdom, priests to his God and Father, to him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen. Confession of the Gospel (Unison): Almighty God, we are greatly sinful and unable to save ourselves. But we trust in the Savior you have graciously given: Christ Jesus our Lord. We trust only in the obedience of Christ for our righteousness, the death of Christ for our release from the Law s curse, the resurrection of Christ for our immortality, the ascension of Christ for our reconciliation with you, the rule of Christ for our final victory and peace. We rest on Christ Jesus the Son of God alone for salvation. Amen.
