The successful completion of a FAFSA- Free Application for Federal Student Aid is required to receive any Miles College Scholarship. Miles College Academic Scholarships President s Scholarship for incoming freshmen - Qualifications: 3.7 to 4.0 GPA or an ACT score of at least 24 or SAT score of Dean s Scholarship A - Qualifications: GPA or an ACT composite score of 20 or SAT score of Dean s Scholarship B - Qualifications: 3.0 cumulative GPA and a SAT score of 1320 or an ACT composite score of 18. Other Scholarships Opportunities Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Scholarship The Birmingham Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. gives, in alternate years, scholarships of up to $3,000 to worthy students who have demonstrated character, scholarship, talent and need for financial assistance. Army and Air Force ROTC Scholarships: Scholarships are available to students enrolled in the AROTC and AFROTC programs through a cross-registration with the University of Alabama in Birmingham and Samford University, respectively. Deadline Mid-March The Thomas R. Pickering Undergraduate Foreign Affairs Fellowship for persons interested in entering the U.S. Department of State Foreign Service. Must be a Sophomore. 3.2 GPA. Includes tuition, room, board, mandatory fees, books, and travel for junior, senior and first year of graduate study. Disciplines Academic areas relevant to international affairs, political and economic analysis, administration, management, and science policy. Applications can be found at The Critical Language Scholarship Program provides seven to ten weeks of groupbased overseas foreign language instruction and structured cultural enrichment experiences in thirteen critical need languages for U.S. citizens who are students at the undergraduate, master's, and doctoral levels. The thirteen languages offered are Arabic, Azerbaijani, Bangla/Bengali, Chinese, Hindi, Indonesian, Japanese, Korean, Persian, Punjabi, Russian, Turkish and Urdu. Information can be found at INTERNSHIPS! USAID Summer Internships in Africa and Washington, DC Internships in overseas missions in sub-saharan Africa as well as Washington, DC. For students pursuing careers in international development. Must be a Junior, Senior, or Graduate Student. Housing, monthly stipend and in-country travel costs provided. Disciplines public policy, economics, journalism, agricultural economics, agronomy, public administration, law, management, political science, health, etc. Deadline for Application Early March International Agricultural Internship Program Provides Int l agricultural trade experience to Senior and Graduate students. 3.3 GPA needed. No summer only programs of study eligible. Bridging Scholarship for Study Abroad in Japan provides up to $4,000 and a round-ticket to Japan. UMAP (University Mobility in Asia and the Pacific) Scholarship is a new scholarship of AIE-J that provides $1,400. Freeman-ASIA Program provides a stipend between $3,000 and $7,000 (depending on the length of the overseas study program) for undergraduate students to study in East and Southeast Asia. German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) offers scholarships for a semester or a year study abroad program in Germany. Monbusho (Ministry of Education of Japan) Scholarship provides round-trip transportation and a monthly stipend for study in Japan. The National Security Education Program (NSEP) offers Boren Awards for undergraduate and graduate study in less-traditional study sites. Benjamin A.
