1 The Art Program at Sydney Children s Hospital, Randwick presents: INSPIRE! 2015: Secondary School s Art Prize Spring Art Exhibition Catalogue The exhibitions are on display from 3 September to 1 December 2015
2 INSPIRE! 2015 Secondary School s Art Prize 3 September to 1 December ABOUT THE EXHIBTION Our annual student art prize invites students from Sydney s high schools (including our own Sydney Children s Hospital School) to submit works of art to feature as part of our Spring exhibitions rotation. Students use inspirational imagery to create their works that lift the spirits of the patients, staff and families that walk our corridors every day. This year, for the first time, the INSPIRE! Secondary School s Art Prize was themed, and the theme for this year s prize was yellow. One of the conditions of entry this year was that each carefully created work features the bright and cheerful colour, yellow. The exhibition is a favourite amongst our hospital patients, staff and families who really enjoy perusing each artwork, created especially for them. Some feedback from INSPIRE! 2014: One patient in particular walked the exhibition about 50 times and reported how calm it made him feel when he saw all the artwork that had been done for the patients at the hospital. Another patient said it made her feel like she was connected to other kids her own age when she saw the works, and didn t feel like she was isolated and alone in the hospital, but like she could be part of the outside world through the student s artwork. ABOUT THE ART PROGRAM The Art Program with the motto Art Celebrating Life is funded by Sydney Children s Hospital Foundation and our partner Louis Vuitton Australia. The Program channels the visual arts through exhibitions, workshops, a permanent collection and digital displays to improve the lives of the Hospital s brave young patients, to inspire and engage their families and carers, and to transform the Sydney s Children s Hospital into a dynamic cultural hub. 2 - SCHF ART PROGRAM
