The school has a long tradition of a caring attitude, a family atmosphere and a learning environment, all of which help the students reach their full potential. The school has an excellent Discipline Policy and regular contact is maintained with parents including parent/teacher meetings. It aims to provide it s students with skills for life-long learning. Regular homework is a valuable aspect of the learning process and contributes to the development of sound study skills. Homework Club The school organises a voluntary homework club one to one from 4 p.m. to 5.30 p.m. each Monday and Wednesday. Supervised evening study is available to the general body of students. Educational Support In order to ensure that students reach their full potential in a caring and learning environment each class has designated teachers as Year Heads, whose responsibilities include, general student welfare, discipline and academic progress. Discipline The discipline policy is necessary to create a positive teaching and learning environment consistent with the school s mission statement and aims. The policy is to encourage good behaviour throughout the school and foster self-discipline among all pupils. The school through its policies seeks to ensure that all pupils have the right to a disruptive free learning environment. The introduction of the new disciplinary code has resulted in very positive feedback from both teachers and students and has greatly enhanced the learning environment for all. Over the past five years this has resulted in excellent behaviour inside and outside the classroom. Desirable pupil behaviour is recognised and praised. In cases of unsatisfactory behaviour, the school operates a system of graded sanctions.
