22 Reading Reading at school- Books are changed once a week on a Thursday. We collect them in and a new book is issued on Friday. Reading with teacher we aim to read a full book with each child each half term. Guided reading groups start when the children are ready. Reading at home- Reading, talking, questioning, sharing, and using picture cues. Reading diaries- please write a comment (monkey book). This will be issued next half term.

23 Phonics Phonics is taught daily, using Jolly phonics and Letters and Sounds. Autumn term- Phase 1 and 2 Spring term- Phase 2 and Phase 3 Summer term consolidate Phase 2 and 3 Encourage children to use their knowledge of phonics when reading and writing- phonic fingers and sound buttons. Recognition of tricky words - to me my he she the want etc.

24 Phonics Phase 2 single sounds make sure they are pure sounds. Phase 3 digraphs and trigraphs e.g. ch, sh, th ng, igh which are 2 or 3 letters that make 1 sound. Blending and segmenting CVC words using these sounds, using sound buttons, e.g m a t

26 Being ready for school Hair must be tied back No nail polish Correct PE kit in school with outdoor shoes please can you remember to label! Naming everything-water bottles/lunch and snack boxes/book bags/clothes/wellington boots. School book bag- no ruck sacks please (we would prefer no danglies, however if it is small we will allow 1). Waterproof coat, wellingtons, and a spare school uniform! No toys Healthy eating - packed lunch, snacks End of the day No use of playground equipment before or after school Late collection- 3.30pm to the office pm to Kew Kids

29 How can you help us? Talk to your child about taking responsibility for their clothes and encourage independence at every opportunity. Over half term practise encourage your child to get changed into their PE kits from their school uniform and back. Please encourage your child s independence when toileting. We will send out a weekly/bi weekly sheet out on a Friday, which will inform you of our topic for the upcoming weeks. It will provide you with activities and tasks to support your child at home.
