1 SENIOR PARENT ADS Deadline: Thursday, August 25, 206 $50 late fee for ads submitted after the deadline Dear Senior Parents, Parent ads have been a St. Pius X tradition for many years. They are a great way to congratulate your child for completing his or her high school years. If you wish to purchase a parent ad, please send in the items listed in this packet no later than Thursday, August 25. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact the yearbook adviser, Ms. Ashley Curlette (acurlette@spx.org). Please read the instructions carefully so that we will have the proper materials and information to put your ad together correctly. All parents will receive an ed proof of the ad for your approval before it goes to print in early November, so please make sure that we have an address for you. This is also how we will contact you if there are issues with your submitted materials. You may drop your ad materials off in the front office, bring with you on Mini Class Night, or to acurlette@spx.org Sincerely, The Golden Echoes Yearbook Staff SIZES AND PRICES $350 FULL PAGE (vertical): 8.5 X $25 HALF PAGE (horizontal): 8.5 X 5.5 $65 QUARTER PAGE: (vertical): 4.25 X 5.5 $5 EIGHTH (horizontal): 4.25 X 2.75 PAYING FOR YOUR AD All ads will be billed through FACTS. PLEASE DO NOT SEND IN A CHECK! There will be a $50 late fee for any ads not submitted by August 25. **OPTION #: SELECT A PRE-DESIGNED LAYOUT** The layout designs appear on pages 4-0 in this set of instructions. The photos in the layout designs have specific numbers corresponding to their placement on the pages. Number your photos accordingly so we know where to place them. Digital pictures are preferred ( to acurlette@spx.org) but if you must use hard copy photos, please follow the instructions below. Please send in copies of your photos, not the originals. No photos will be returned. Do not cut your photos. Please place post-it notes over the portions of the photo that you do not want to appear in the ad. We will do the best that we can to crop out those portions as the layout will allow. Remember that horizontal subjects in photos cannot fit in vertical positions and vertical subjects in photos cannot fit in horizontal positions. We will not use any pictures that show alcoholic beverage containers, cigarettes, or other inappropriate material regardless of the age of your child in the photos. We will not use any pictures of unclothed babies or toddlers. Although these pictures may be cute to you as parents, this is a publication that represents the entire school and the Archdiocese of Atlanta. 2
2 **OPTION #2: DESIGN & PRODUCE YOUR OWN CUSTOM AD** You are not required to produce your own ad, but you do have this option if you don t want to use the pre-designed layouts. A custom ad constitutes ANY change that you make to the existing, pre-designed layouts shown on the attached pages. This includes adding or deleting a photo, merging photo spots to make one bigger photo or rearranging existing photos or text spaces. Please send us the completed ad as you would like it to appear in the yearbook, not instructions for how to put it together for you. FORMAT Here are just a few production ideas that parents in recent years have done on their own: a. Take photos, paper, scissors, and glue and make your own collage and message b. Scan your pictures at 500+ dpi (for resolution), make your ad and message on the computer, and save for us in a PDF format c. Have a professional put your ad together and save for us in a PDF format d. Use PowerPoint, Publisher, etc. to make a collage and message and save in a PDF format HOW TO SUBMIT A CUSTOM AD a PDF file and an electronic version of the ad contract to acurlette@spx.org OR save to a CD/flash drive and turn it in with a hard copy of the ad contract. If you are making a collage, you may send it to us as is ; We tag such a piece as art and submit to the yearbook company for them to scan and place. Know that whatever you send to us will be printed in the yearbook EXACTLY as you submit the materials. If the pictures are fuzzy or grainy or the color is off a bit, they will look EXACTLY that same way in the yearbook. We cannot adjust or clean up anything you submit for a custom ad. Please take some time to look at the 206 yearbook on pages 250, 254, 258, 259, 262, etc. for examples of what last year s parents made on their own. Look carefully at the quality and design so that you are familiar with the possibilities. PLEASE REMEMBER, THE YEARBOOK IS A STUDENT PUBLICATION While we strive for perfection, we do not guarantee perfection. Mistakes and errors are completely unintentional but may happen. You will be ed a proof of your ad in early November. If we do not hear back from you, the ad will print as is. Common mistakes include misspelled names, typos in messages to your child, omission of part or all of your message to your child, pictures switched with other student s ads, and even omission, or loss, of entire ads. Refunds for ads which do appear in the book will NOT be given regardless of the condition of the final product appearing in the book. Accidentally omitted ads will be refunded. **SENIOR PORTRAIT INFORMATION** Peachtree Portraits will be contacting each senior family soon with information about sitting times this summer. You must make every effort to have your senior portrait taken at that time. You have an extremely limited time frame for make-up pictures, and the yearbook is not able to publish any formal picture other than what Peachtree Portraits submits. All students must also take a casual photo to appear in the senior quotes section of the yearbook. You are not obligated to purchase these photos. All yearbook portrait selections are made through Peachtree Portraits on their website. You do not make this selection through St. Pius or the yearbook staff. Even if you choose not to purchase pictures from Peachtree Portraits, you must still select a formal picture and casual picture for the yearbook. If you do not select your poses by their announced deadline (usually mid-september), Peachtree Portraits will select them for you. 2 3

I understand that any hard copy photos submitted will not be returned. I understand that the yearbook is a publication produced by students and that mistakes are rare but may happen.
