The program is designed to assist coaches in identifying and dealing with abuse, neglect, harassment & bullying in sport. It will help coaches better identify and deal with these issues. Softball Saskatchewan now requires that all coaches be RiS certified. For more information please contact the office or check out the RiS website. Page 1
2 2014 Registration Information AFFILIATION Applications for membership will be accepted from League Executives and Umpire Associations. Approved applicants will receive a membership in the Association by paying the annually set affiliation fee accompanied with the Affiliation Certificate submitted to the Softball Saskatchewan office. To be covered by the Softball Saskatchewan Insurance & Benefits Program, players, coaches and managers must be affiliated with Softball Saskatchewan. Certificates must be submitted to the Softball Saskatchewan Office on or before June 1, League/Association Fee $50.00 Under 10: Learn to Play, Mites, T-Ball $7.00 Under 19: U12, U14, U16, U18 $10.00 Over 19: U21, Senior, Masters $10.00 Coaches, Managers, League Executives, Umpire Executives Slo-Pitch Fee (Includes ALL players, coaches & managers) $7.00 $ PROVINCIAL CHAMPIONSHIPS Coaching Requirements Provincial Championship that leads to a Western/Canadian Championship One Coach with the Competition Introduction Certification plus the MED (Making Ethical Decision) online exam. OR One Softball Level 2 Certified Coach Exception - Masters - Require One Community Softball Coach OR One Softball Level 1 Certified Coach All other Provincial Championships One Community Softball Coach OR One Coach who has completed Competition Introduction Weekend 1 & 2 OR One Softball Level 1 Certified Coach *************************************** Provincial Entry Form Deadline is June 1, 2014 at 4:00pm Faxed or ed forms not accepted. 8 Introducing... Softball Saskatchewan is implementing a coach/athlete mentor program focused on boys and girls aged six to twelve. This program follows the FUNdamental and Learning to Train stage of the Softball Canada Long Term Player Development (LTPD) model. This program will be provided free of charge and available to any minor softball Association in the province. Softball Saskatchewan will provide a trained mentor to come and work on diamond with local teams. We do however ask that Associations purchase the Softball Canada U12 Coaches Guide and/or Learn to Play Manual as these will serve as the basis for setting up practices. The program will run for the months of April, May and June in 2014, 2015 and For more information contact Jacqueline at (306) or jac@softball.sk.ca SAFE STAR Softball Saskatchewan has launched our new program SAFE STAR. The program is a quality assurance program that will award Softball Associations with a STAR rating from one to three based on a series of standards in four categories: Organizational Development Volunteer Development Long Term Player Development Provincial Participation Softball Associations who receive a SAFE STAR rating will be able to promote themselves as such and will receive free promotional materials to assist them in marketing their programs to the public. 9 Cash Calendar The Softball Saskatchewan Cash Calendar is designed as a fundraiser for both Affiliated Members and Softball Saskatchewan. Softball Saskatchewan provides the calendars at no charge and provides the Prize Board. The Calendar Draws are licensed by the Saskatchewan Liquor and Gaming Authority. - Teams/Leagues must request desired amount of calendars from Softball Saskatchewan ( or info@softball.sk.ca) and they will be distributed on a first come/first serve basis. - Teams/Leagues are responsible for the selling and return of all draw entry forms (tear off insert inside each calendar used for draw purposes). - Teams/Leagues must return the full $25.00/Calendar to the Softball Saskatchewan office by July 31, A cheque will then be issued for the sellers share of the calendars. - Teams/Leagues will receive $17/calendar sold after all money ($25/calendar sold) is returned. Teams/ Leagues are accountable for any lost calendars. Prize Pool Breakdown $100 prize every Monday for 52 weeks $ $200 prize each Friday in August $ Special Occasion Prizes: Labour Day - September 1st $ Christmas Day - December 25th $ Valentines Day - February 14th $ Easter Money - April 21st $ Start of Softball Season - May 1st $ Affiliation Deadline - June 1st $ Total Prize Pool $ Month Calendar From August 2014 to July 2014 Cost: $25 each Selling team/league receives $17 per calendar sold. Softball Saskatchewan receives $8 per calendar sold to cover cost of prizes and printing/ production costs. A total of 63 prizes eligible to be won.
