3 Position Description Position Title: DES INTERN EMPLOYMENT CONSULTANT R e p o r t s to: Team Leaders, DES Manager Grading: TRAINING & PLACEMENT OFFICER Grade1 Pay Point 1 Employment Status: Full Time POSITION PURPOSE Working as part of a high performing team in the delivery of Employment Services to achieve sustainable outcomes for job seekers. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES Performance Provide support as required to a high performing team to achieve DES KPIs and Key Employment Performance Targets. Deliver all services efficiently, effectively and ethically and in accordance with the Contract. Financials Support the team to achieve Key Employment financial targets through activities such as commencements, engagement, placements and outcomes. People - Work effectively with others to achieve site goals through teamwork, communications, respect for others and responsibility for self development. Growth & Sustainability -- Work with team members to help achieve growth for the site and organisation through community engagement, external relationships and industry engagement. Business Processes - Ensure efficiency and compliance with administrative processes Governance - Actively promote and support the Mission, Vision and Values of Key Employment by maintaining social, ethical and organisational standards and values, always honouring commitments and treating people with dignity, respect and fairness. OBJECTIVE To provide high quality support to our employment services team while developing skills and experience to become a successful and effective case manager and employment consultant.
4 KEY DELIVERABLES Key Employment s Intern Employment Consultants work across all areas of our program in delivering outstanding services to all individuals. This includes job seeker engagement, accurate recording in IT systems, business meetings, employer engagement, resume building, and job placment monitoring. Interns are expected to learn quickly and to travel to other sites to fill in for absent staff and staff on leave. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES To actively participate in the team's delivery of services under the guidance of a senior case worker and a team leader. Interns are expected to learn all aspects of our work and will be trained to participate in initial interviews, skills assessments, contact regime, service review, participation reporting, intensive support activities and work experience. Interns are expected to develop competence in the tasks of job search, job maintenance, job coach, skills development, community connections and marketing. Maintain a high level of customer service and focus. Acquire, develop and maintain a high level knowledge and skills in Employment Services and the DSS IT System. Attend meetings that may include travel outside of normal working hours. Adhere to WHS Association responsibilities Other duties as required to meet operational needs. CAPABILITIES Interns need to either immediately deliver or very quickly learn ALL of these: Customer focus Results Focus Continuous Improvement Focus Problem solving; initiative and innovation; negotiation skills; relationship building AND A sense of safety based on creating and maintaining a healthy and safe environment. 5 JOB SPECIFICATION INTERN EMPLOYMENT CONSULTANT The position of Intern Employment Consultant is currently based on the Labour Market Assistance Industry Award 2010 (LMAIA). The actual terms of employment are varied according to experience and skills. Mandatory: Empathy and understanding of the culture of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people Positive perception of and a well developed empathy with people with disability and people who are disadvantaged in the labour market including people from Culturally and Linguistically Diverse backgrounds. Experience and/or training in Youth Work Ability to keep concise and meaningful records Ability to commit to client confidentiality. Ability to write clear reports High level of demonstrated ability and experience in use of Windows based PC with Microsoft products and . Understanding of the needs of business Experience in customer service Excellent communication skills. High level computer skills Demonstrated ability to learn quickly, work independently and contribute to the culture of a happy hard working team including evidence of hard work dedication and commitment to achieve excellent results. Criminal Record Check Working with Children Check Preferred: An understanding and willingness to develop strong knowledge of the employment services market in Australia. Personal experience with people with disability Experience with databases
6 Formal qualifications in Youth Work, Welfare, Psychology, Physical Movement, Business and Commerce will be highly regarded as will Cert IV in Training and Assessment. Well-developed report writing skills. Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing. Demonstrated excellent skills in negotiation, high level sales and or consultation. An interest in sales and or formal training in marketing/business. Current driver s license and own car. Proven record of innovation and initiative Proven integrity Non-smoker Terms of Employment Employment Conditions are prescribed in the LMAIA and the NES with a range of variations and benefits listed below which exceed that Award. These are negotiated according to skills and experience: a. KEY EMPLOYMENT salary scales follow the LMAIA structure plus 10% after a qualifying period with individual salaries determined by relevant skills, experience and performance. b. Increments are paid according to Key Performance and Key Behaviour Indicators c. Salary packaging up to the maximum permitted currently by the Australian Taxation Office for Income Tax Exempt Charities (currently calculated at up to $585 per fortnight as a non-taxable component of salary for full-time staff - pro rata for part-time staff) d. Flexible hours over a 76 hour fortnight e. 10% Super Guarantee payments f. Annual leave loading of 25% of annual leave pay g. Fitness program incentive payment of $100 pa h. Fitness equipment payment of $100 pa i. Well Being contribution of up to $100 pa j. Safety Award of up to $250 pa k. Xmas shopping vouchers value $250 pa I. Depending on performance and the achievement of financial targets you may be eligible to attend an annual in house Conference including accommodation for partners valued at $4500 m. Annual bonus depending on KPI and KBIs.
