1 Welsh Athletics Job Description Job Title: National Event Group Lead Coach - Throws Responsible to: Responsible for: Key interface with: National Performance Coach (NPC) and Coaching Development Manager (CDM) The development of Throws event group coaching and coaches in Wales Supporting Welsh Athletics supported athletes and their personal coaches Being the Throws Event Coach at determined competitions Volunteer Throws Coaches in Wales NEGL Coaches in Speed, Endurance, Jumps and Combined Events Location: Budget Responsibilities: NIAC office The role frequently requires out of office work at a variety of locations around Wales To manage the devolved Throws Event Group Budget Overall Purpose of the role: To develop Throws Coaches and Coaching within Wales, contributing to the Progressing Coaching for Performance Plan
2 Key Responsibilities: To work with the NPC and CDM to deliver the Welsh Athletics Progressing Coaching for Performance Plan To create and facilitate delivery of an informal coach education programme for the development of throws coaching in Wales, which inspires learning and individual development of coaches To provide mentoring and support to identified coaches To provide support for athlete and coach pairs identified through Welsh Athletics performance structures; ensuring knowledge of and access to the full athlete package from Welsh Athletics To monitor supported athlete progress and inform selection processes for international events To be event group coach for all relevant competitions and Welsh Athletics training camps To provide coaching support, where required, for supported athletes To uphold the organisational values of Welsh Athletics and to contribute to the working and welfare of the staff team N.B. Employee work programmes will be driven by the Welsh Athletics operational plan. Performance will be measured against the delivery of this plan and the mutuallyagreed key performance indicators set at the beginning of the review period. Success Criteria / Measurements: Success will be based on the creation and implementation of an event development plan for Throws in Wales which facilitates; 1. An increase in the number of Throws coaches in Wales, of athletes who have the potential to represent Wales. 2. Creating a greater community for coaches of Throwing events within Wales.

Able to work remotely with limited direct supervision to achieve targets and goals. Excellent personal time planning skills. Organised and logical. MAKING INTEGRITY CUSTOMER FOCUSED (THROWS COACHES IN WALES) Is fair and equitable, ethical and honest in approach. Treats people with respect. Protects confidential information. Trustworthy. Adheres to Welsh Athletics policies and demonstrates loyalty to the organisation. Strongly coach focused and aware of their needs and expectations. Develops and maintains excellent relationships with coaches. Able to support the development of other coaches in Throws. Able to mentor coaches within their event group. EXPERIENCE & SKILLS Excellent event group technical knowledge. Knowledge of coaching development opportunities in the UK.
4 SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS Willing to work irregular hours on occasions, including weekend work. Demonstrates an understanding of athletics and the function of a sport's governing body. IT SKILLS Computer literate in respect of databases and internet and proficient in Microsoft Office products. This role profile is not exhaustive. It is intended as an outline indication of the areas of activity and will be amended in the light of the changing needs of the company.
5 EMPLOYMENT BENEFITS JOB TITLE SALARY National Event Group Lead Coach - Throws Depending on experience TENURE Permanent contract either on a contracted or self-employed basis. ANNUAL PAID HOLIDAY 22 days in first year of appointment rising to 25 days plus 8 Statutory Bank Holidays (pro rata) HOURS Part Time - Hours to be determined A flexible approach to working hours is required as evening and weekend working may be involved OTHER BENEFITS Pension Plan with company contributions currently equivalent to 10% of annual salary (after successful probationary period) Training & development opportunities NOTICE PERIOD 1 Month
