It is a not-for-profit community service group with a core set of services and business operations that support the multicultural communities and the disadvantaged in the region. Diversitat represents over 70,000 people of all ethnic and cultural heritages throughout the Geelong region and has 38 affiliated communities. From a single office of five staff in 1976, Diversitat has grown to operate over 10 sites in Geelong and one in Colac. Our Vision To empower individuals and communities to reach their full potential. Position Area Title Deputy Financial Controller Position Purpose To manage the day-to-day Finance functions of Diversitat, to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting to support the CEO and Managers. This position includes the responsibility for ensuring that accounting standards, taxation, superannuation, and funding obligations are adhered to. Nature of Position This is a Fixed Term Position until 5 th Feb 2016 and full time hours- 38 per week (Monday to Friday). *Part-time hours over 4-days a week may also be considered. 2 Remuneration/Award Classification Dependent on levels of experience and qualifications. Internal/External Liaisons Establish and maintain good working relationships with Finance team employees (Payroll / Accounts Payable Officer, Accounts Receivable Officer, Data Entry Finance Officer, Training Accountant), Diversitat staff in general, Chief Executive Officer, Auditors, IT Supplier, Phone Supplier, Government agencies including Australian Taxation Office. Position Support This role will be supported through a range of avenues; Access to the Chief Executive Officer Payroll / Accounts Payable Officer Accounts Receivable Officer Data Entry Finance Officer Assistant Accountant External Auditors Individual and monthly staff meetings Performance appraisal Professional and personal development opportunities Financial Controller Special Conditions applicable to the role Work outside standard hours as required to meet deadlines Requirement to work across other sites from time to time. Key Duties and Responsibilities Key Responsibilities 1 Financial Reporting Produce accurate and timely financial report to Financial Controller, CEO, Programme managers on a monthly basis. These reports are to compare actuals to budget. Prepare reports and schedules for annual audit and individual programme acquitals. 2 Reconciliations Either supervise or undertake all general ledger account reconciliations on monthly basis and ensure appropriate action is taken 3 Compliance Ensure appropriate internal controls are in place to safeguard assets and to meet government funding requirements; Ensure PBI and DGR status is adequately maintained; Position Description Deputy Financial Controller 2015 Page 2 of 6

3 Ensure WorkCover and Superannuation requirements are adhered to; Prepare monthly Business Activity Statement in an effective manner to minimise obligation whilst ensuring compliance with ATO requirements; 4 Efficiencies Regularly monitor cash reserves ensuring interest received is maximised and / or interest expensed is minimised; Manage all aspects of commercial and property leases in conjunction with Program Managers; Mange all financial aspects of residential property leases; Regularly review supplier contracts to ensure appropriate cost efficiency; 5 People Management Actively assist Diversitat s drive to have a paperless office in order to improve efficiencies and reduce costs; Daily management of all finance department employees; Supervise payroll, accounts receivable, accounts payable and additional finance functions; Ensure finance team operate in line with all Diversitat policy and procedures related to including but not limited to Occupational Health and Safety, Quality Assurance and Equal Opportunity and Prevention of Discrimination Harassment and Bullying in the Workplace. 6 Internal Service Capabilities Assist Program Managers in all finance related aspects of their respective positions and functions; Facilitate financial literacy of Program Managers and Coordinators. Other Terms and Conditions of Employment Access to Salary Packaging 6 weeks annual leave pro rata Salary payment by direct banking to designated account on a fortnightly basis Employment can be subject to the satisfactory completion of a Police Record Check, Medical Check and/or Working with Children Check. Diversitat will pay for the costs associated with a Police Record Check and /or requested Medical Check. The Working with Children Check cost will be the responsibility of the employee. Prior to any person being appointed to this position it will be required that they disclose full details of any previous Workers Compensation claims.
