1 MASTERS PROGRAMMES Validated by the University of Winchester MA in Christian Liturgy MA in Christian Spirituality MA in Theology, Imagination and Culture MA in Christian Approaches to Leadership FEES AND METHODS OF PAYMENT 2016/2017 Academic Year When accepting an offer of a place on an MA programme, you will be asked to pay a nonrefundable registration fee of 100 to secure your place. The fee for each of the three years of either of the MA programmes for students starting in 2016 is 2100, so the total fee for 3 years (excluding the registration fee) is The fee for extending the period of study beyond the three year period of study is currently 600 per year (see Extension of Study Period below). Fees are due at the beginning of September of each year. At the beginning of your programme, you can pay in full, which attracts a 150 discount if paid before 1 September 2016, or spread the payment of fees over the 3 years. If a student withdraws during the year, the fees due will be either the cost of the number of individual modules/dissertation started or the cost of number of academic years started, whichever is the greater. The fees include classes, supervision, assessment, administration and use of the library. The fee does not include meals or accommodation, for which a separate charge is made in advance of any module and payable, at the latest, two weeks before the start of the module. Modules can be taken on a residential or non-residential basis and the current package prices are currently 226 (en-suite), 187 (standard) and 53 (non-residential) respectively. The College regrets that it cannot refund meals or accommodation not taken up. Note: all fees and prices will be reviewed at the beginning of July each year. 2 1. By one lump sum of 6150* *If the whole fee for the programme is paid before 1 September 2016, there is a discount of 150 i.e to pay (NB: only available to students in their first year). Three annual instalments of 2100 The instalments are payable: 1 September 2016, 1 September 2017, 1 September Six instalments of 1050 The instalments are payable: 1 September 2016, 1 March 2017, 1 September 2017, 1 March 2018, 1 September 2018 and 1 March Twenty six instalments: 1 payment of 1050, then twenty-five payments of 210 The instalments are payable: 2016/17 (six payments): One initial payment of 1050, payable on 1 September 2016; then 210 payable on 1 February 2017, 1 March 2017, 1 April 2017, 1 May 2017 and 1 June /18 (ten payments): 210 payable on 1 September 2017, 1 October 2017, 1 November 2017, 1 December 2017, 1 January 2018, 1 February 2018, 1 March 2018, 1 April 2018, 1 May 2018 and 1 June /19 (ten payments): 210 payable on 1 September 2018, 1 October 2018, 1 November 2018, 1 December 2018, 1 January 2019, 1 February 2019, 1 March 2019, 1 April 2019, 1 May 2019 and 1 June Withdrawal from Study If you withdraw from the course, you will be charged the full year fees for the number of years of study that you have commenced, plus any additional modules over and above 3 modules in year one, 6 modules in year two and 6 modules and the dissertation in year three. The date of withdrawal will be the date of receipt of a formal notification of withdrawal by the validating university. Extension to Period of Study The fees are calculated on the following basis: Postgraduate Certificate (60 credits) Completed within 1 year of starting the course. Postgraduate Diploma (120 credits) Completed within 2 years of starting the course. Masters Degree (180 credits) Completed within 3 years of starting the course. If you wish to extend your period of study beyond these periods there will be a charge of 600 per year of extension and will apply as follows: Page 2 of 6 sarum.ac.uk

3 Postgraduate Certificate extension beyond 1 September 2017 Postgraduate Diploma extension beyond 1 September 2018 Masters Degree extension beyond 1 September 2019 Permission to extend modules and the dissertation must be applied for and granted by the Programme Leader. Audit Fees Students may attend modules in addition to those which they are studying for credit, by permission of the Programme Leader. The hospitality rates will be the usual student rates which are currently 226 (en-suite), 187 (standard) and 53 (non-residential) respectively, with an added administration fee of 35 per booking. Please note that students must give clear information on whether they are attending modules as part of their accredited study in advance of attendance. Should the module be oversubscribed, preference will be given to students taking the module for credit. Note: all fees and prices will be reviewed at the beginning of July each year. Other Costs Please be aware that there will be other costs incurred by studying at Sarum College. Books may need to be purchased and the student must have access to, and be able to use, computer equipment (e.g. a PC/Mac and Microsoft Word software) as well as being able to regularly access the Internet. In addition, the requirements of submitting the dissertation involves printing and binding hard-copies (two) of the dissertation, for which there will be a fee payable direct to the binding company (as sourced by the student independently). Academic Regulations It is the student s responsibility to familiarise themselves thoroughly with, and adhere to, the Academic Regulations of our validating institution, The University of Winchester, When accepting the offer of a place on a Sarum College MA programme (by signing the registration form) the student agrees to do so. Prior to making an application, do fully research the specific criteria and application procedures of the individual trust(s). The Association of Church College Trusts The Association of Church College Trusts (ACCT) was formed in 1979, as a loosely-knit organisation of autonomous trusts. Although all the Trusts have some involvement with RE and church-related education, each has a different emphasis and some have additional priorities. 5 The Foundation s object is the advancement of further and higher education in religious education and theology. Grants are awarded to individuals for research and taught postgraduate qualifications in these fields; and to eligible organisations for related initiatives and facilities. Under the terms of the governing Scheme grants may be given for training of social, community, and youth workers and teachers; for training ministers of the Church of England (or of a church in communion therewith) and to assist with the study of music and the arts. Small one-off awards are usually for assistance with fees and/or books. Presently committed to supporting the North of England Institute for Christian Education, the North East Religious Learning Resources Centre, several lectureships, chaplaincy (in particular the chaplaincy in the college of St Hild & St Bede), scholarships, libraries and a demonstration school. The Church of England Year Book The Church of England Year Book has a list of grantmaking bodies (under Organisations). Not all of which will contribute to education purposes but instead give grants through diocesan bishops for other needs. The Trustees policy is to assist their work and professional ministry in areas that go beyond normal diocesan financial responsibilities or where normal diocesan resources are insufficient, for example inservice training, academic study, sabbaticals and travel. Leaders of Worship and Preachers Trust Tel lwptoffice@lwpt.org.uk Website Leaders of Worship and Preachers Trust is an ecumenical charity that offers several grants each year towards vocational training for those considering preaching. Grants can be used towards course fees and materials for any recognised course that enables the applicant to explore or develop their preaching skills. This may include gap year style courses as well as continuing professional development courses.
