Following this same methodology each time will ensure the investigator will address all the nuances and facets imperative to a successful criminal investigation. 5 ONE DAY COURSES handgun 1 Developed by law enforcement instructors from across the country, this course provides individual challenges that push the student to make measured advances in both accuracy and speed of shot placement. The focus is on the core skills that are needed to be applied under your individual tactical programs. Participants are required to bring their own ammunition. (Regular cost is $250). STARTLE RESPONSE TO AN AMBUSh This training provides officers the ability to respond to high stress, short duration critical incidents where they are faced with an unanticipated, deadly threat at close range. The classroom portion deals with the physiological effects associated with such an event as well as the techniques for mitigating those affects. Moving to the range, core shooting skills are further developed using Airsoft training weapons. Officers will then begin facing armed adversaries and applying the skills they brought with them from the square range using Airsoft pistols. From the static range officers will employ scenarios facing suspects and apply their training in both shoot and no shoot situations. The national hit rate for officers involved in shootings hovers around 30%, that means officers are missing 70% of the time. A major factor for this is the affect of high stress on an officer s ability to function. Training in a simulated, realistic environment provides inoculation through mental and physical preparation. PATROL RESPONSE TO A CRITICAL INCIDENT Virtually all litigation against the police includes the allegation of failure to supervise. First responders are always uniform patrol officers and deputies. More often than not, violent suspects, emotionally disturbed subjects and armed offenders are threatening the lives of citizens and law enforcement. Rarely does supervisory training tell lead officers, sergeants, and lieutenants exactly how to make the correct tactical decision, lead and deploy multiple officers, and establish order out of chaos. The training program gives them the answers to the tough issues, and prepares them for the after event skills to successfully explain and defend their lawful and professional actions. 6 NEW LECTURE BASED CLASSES These classes were created by requests coming from the ever-changing needs of Law enforcement officers across the country. These classes are offered on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday and the cost is $95 a day. Leadership & Command for Patrol Supervisors Virtually all litigation against the police includes the allegation of failure to supervise. High Risk Warrant Planning for Team Leaders and Supervisors This lecture based course will provide Team Leaders and Supervisors with the information, protocols, and processes needed to plan a High Risk Warrant. This course will challenge students with incident reviews and table top exercises. Tony Gonzales, Retired Houston SWAT Team Leader, brings a world of knowledge and expertise to this fast paced course. Critical Incident Command Citizens, and often, entire communities are threatened by natural disaster such as earthquakes, hurricanes, tornadoes, and fires. Man-made major violent incidents are on the increase. Incidents such as the Virginia Tech University mass murders at the hands of the active shooter, as well as drug cartels, gangs, now organized crime syndicates, and terrorists are everyday threats in the United States. In order to properly respond to protect the lives of the citizens law enforcement serves, decisions and interventions must be timely, lawful and tactically sound. History has told a story of past failures, ineptitude and a lack of leadership that has cost lives and the destruction of agency reputations. This training program will provide a clear and understandable process of decision making and leadership that works, presented by experienced decision makers who have succeeded in resolving chaotic events and are recognized nationally as experts in the field. CELL EXTRACTION This block of instruction covers topics relative to cell extractions in a jail/prison setting including liabilities, basic strategies, equipment needs and tools. The class also covers how to tactically overcome special considerations such as violent inmates, multiple inmates, weapons, spider webbing and traps. The class will include classroom instruction and hands-on. Instructors for this program are nationally recognized and bring extensive real-world correctional experience to this course. All are current law enforcement and/or correctional officers and have attended or taught at numerous courses, conferences or symposia. This material is taken directly from the Correctional Emergency Response Team Operators Course from Safariland. Crime Scene Investigation This course provides introduction into the methods and techniques for the documentation and collection/preservation of physical evidence. The lecture provides students with the practical methodology for managing and processing the crime scene. Specific topics include: crime scene assessment, protecting the scene, photography and sketching of the crime scene, classification of physical evidence, evidence collection protocols, DNA evidence, firearms evidence, and latent print evidence. Total cost is $300. (Regular cost is $395). Homicide Investigations In the realm of criminal investigations few instances are as challenging as the homicide crime scene. This course will expose the student to a systematic approach to be used on homicide investigations. Following this same methodology each time will ensure the investigator will address all the nuances and facets imperative to a successful criminal investigation. The crime scene processing and subsequent people to be interviewed and interrogated will be broken down into manageable tasks. When each of these tasks are accomplished and pieced together the result will be a complete and comprehensive homicide investigation. The elements addressed in the homicide investigation are easily transferred to other types of crime scenes and investigation. The student will be able to glean what is applicable from the homicide investigation and apply it to other types of crime scenes and investigations.
