Introducing the Møller PSF Group We understand partnerships, we know your world so well we can connect quickly, share insight and add value.

Supporting the professions around the world This is a period of intense change for the professions. There are new competitors, an uncertain marketplace, challenges over traditional methods of working and clients looking for ever more value. Yet it is also a time of growth and of increased international opportunities. When we created the Møller Professional Service Firms (PSF) Group, part of The Møller Centre for Continuing Education within Churchill College, our intention was to offer firms an unrivalled service in strategy, consulting and training. We formed a deeply experienced team who had themselves worked inside some of the world s leading professional service firms and who truly understood their culture and their business challenges. With access to the educational and research resources of the University of Cambridge, we are able to offer the highest standards to our clients. Today, you will find our Partners working across every continent, with professionals in accounting, law, management consulting, real estate and pretty much every other type of professional service firm. We believe that there is something very distinctive about these firms, about the whole concept of the professional partnership. Whether it is teaching leadership, innovation, market strategy, remuneration, business development, talent management, pricing, fee negotiation, project management or coaching, professional service firms require support that is tailored around their unique needs. By focussing our activities on these firms, we can deliver the depth of expertise needed to support profitable growth in the current business environment. Our ethos is for Møller PSF Group Partners to carry out cutting edge research, to teach at some of the leading business schools in the world and to work with fellow professionals in firms of all sizes across the world as well as on site at the The Møller Centre in Cambridge. We can only maintain our leadership through our work with our clients, as they face the real world issues that impact their businesses. So this is our opportunity to say thank you for your support of our own, growing, team of more than 40 Partners and Associates. Kevin Doolan Managing Partner, Møller PSF Group

Our view of coaching There is an abundance of coaches working today but coaching in a professional service firm (PSF) is very different to corporate organisations and working effectively as a coach in a PSF is different to coaching in any other sector. The structure, leadership and way in which things get done in the PSF sector is a world away from how a corporate operates, so to coach effectively in this environment requires more than just being an exceptional coach. Being a Møller PSF Group coach means having deep knowledge and experience in both coaching and PSFs. We are one of the leading organisations with a specialist focus on PSFs, we have been tracking the coaching market and its changes for over 15 years, as well as researching, writing and publishing case studies and articles on topics such as selecting external coaches, team effectiveness in a PSF, Partner as coach and coaching strategy. Our coaches have gained their deep PSF experience either through hundreds of PSF coaching hours and/or through their previous career within a PSF. Together they have delivered around 1000 coaching assignments to the PSF sector since we were formed. Our coaching capability envelops a broad range of services which enable us to deliver high impact, value added, tangible results. We know, coaching moves people in every sense of the word Sam Humphrey Head of coaching practice To ensure our team of coaches deliver successful coaching experiences, they have undertaken significant coaching, business and psychology based training and qualifications. Our coaches stay up to date with the latest developments within the PSF sectors themselves by having continuous development in the sector, delivered by experts within the field. Møller PSF Group coaches are all members of, and/or adhere to, the professional code of ethics of either AC, APECS, EMCC, ICF or WABC with most accredited or working towards practitioner or master practitioner level of one of the mentioned bodies. Through our experience of working with top firms we have added value through both individual and team coaching. We have first hand experience of the impact coaching has had at all levels within a firm and know this has resulted in more effective outcomes and long term success.

Our beliefs about coaching We work with individual Partners, business services leaders and other high potential professionals. Our experience shows us there are five areas where coaching can have significant impact: Organisational transformation - I need to have an impact across the firm to bring about lasting change - culture, self-belief, confidence, people leadership, etc. Personal transformation - I need to change my mindset about this to be successful - winning clients, restructuring the practice, working across cultures, etc. Transition - I am going through a significant transition in my career - new Partner, new role, lateral integration and retirement and I want to change sustainably and well. Performance improvement - I am getting feedback that I could be more effective in my role and want to focus on this. Skill development - I need core skills at deep levels - business development, difficult conversations and leadership impact. Skill Development Internal Coach External Coach Transitional Performance Improvement Transform (Organisation) Transform (Individual) Source: Humphrey, Marsden and Stopford In starting to work with clients, we pay attention to: Purpose - the immediate, short and longer term agenda that the organisation and the client are working to. Aligning the agendas of the various stakeholders. Context - understand what is happening in the firm and for the client in the broadest sense. Value - exploring what will add greatest value to the firm and the client and being clear where coaching fits as all or part of that approach.

Our services Partners and their teams invariably operate under incredible pressure as they continually strive to cope with multiple demands and to deliver to numerous deadlines. We partner with clients at a behavioural and intellectual level to deliver improved business and personal performance through: Tailored one to one coaching We coach Partners and business services leaders - often in relation to specific challenges such as supporting new Partners transition into partnership, improving business development and client management effectiveness, cultural change, leadership impact and coping with major changes such as mergers and re-organisation. Team coaching This is a lively and evolving area for leading thinkers on how to transform firms and their performance. The essence of our team coaching work is to enable Partners to develop and improve their effectiveness in a client, peer or project team context to maximise their contribution. Building coaching capability While coaching is impactful, for many firms it can take hold, spread like wildfire and be expensive to maintain. From our experience, firms are keen to explore how to deliver additional value through internal coaches. We work with clients to ensure they develop fit for purpose coaching capability in their Partners and/ or internal coaching faculty.

Coaching supervision Buyers of coaching are under increasing pressure to demonstrate commercial focus and value for money. Most savvy buyers know that coaching supervision is not a nice-to-have but a ticket to play in the professional coaching market. With that in mind, coaches need to choose their supervision wisely. They must ensure it meets their needs as a practising internal or professional external coach and that it also meets the quality and risk assurance needs of their clients. We lead the field in developing and supervising PSF coaches. We supervise internal coaching faculty and professional coaches on the breadth and depth of issues that arise in high quality coaching. Coaching consultancy We collaborate with clients to explore their current and future coaching activity to ensure their efforts connect the business strategy with coaching activity. We explore the need and lead the creation of the business case to develop an impactful coaching infrastructure. Integrated programme coaching Helping Partners apply what they learn on core programmes is an increasingly value adding role our coaches play. To achieve this, we collaborate closely with programme faculty to understand the purpose of the programme intervention and work with Partners to support them identify goals, synthesise their learning and implement meaningful change back at their desk. Our evaluations have shown that this approach significantly enhances the overall impact of a programme.

Our other practice groups Strategy Our strategy group provide the full range of advisory services that one would expect of a premium management consultancy, specifically tailored to the needs of professional service firms. Some of the services offered include a strategic market assessment, scenario planning, competitive intelligence, strategy development and key client identification. Leadership A challenge for every firm is to up-skill their Partners as rapidly and efficiently as possible. We can help with our consulting, research, coaching and mentoring, bespoke and open education programmes for leaders. We work with leaders of professional service firms to help them meet the challenges they face in today s continually evolving and increasingly competitive markets. We also help develop the leaders of tomorrow. Talent Professional service firms can win or lose depending on the quality of their people. The challenge is how to continually identify and motivate talented people. Motivating individuals and developing them to their full potential helps firms differentiate themselves via outstanding service delivery - and ensures the firm can continue to provide innovative and leading edge solutions for their clients. Our talent practice tailor their services to meet the needs of each client, including talent development and retention initiatives, enhancing employee engagement, induction and transition programmes.

Our other practice groups Business Development We believe that some of the most important barriers to optimising return on investment for business development in professional firms are internal. Attention and resource are often best directed at aligning a firm s internal resources and processes with its culture, rather than making large scale investments in new resources, systems or processes. Our services extend beyond management education and consultation. We also provide implementation and embedding support, including one-to-one coaching of key individuals, to ensure that client firms realise their full potential. Our clients While our advisory work is almost always covered by non-disclosure agreements, the Møller PSF Group s clients include many of the world s most preeminent professional service firms, including several of the Big 4 advisory firms, some of the prominent global law firms on both sides of the Atlantic, investment banks and a range of other consultancies and financial service firms. Our clients also include some quite modest-sized firms. Serious prospective clients may be referred to our existing client base for references about our work, where this is appropriate.

The Møller Centre The Møller Centre is a place that brings together the worlds of academia and business, an environment conducive to learning, providing the very highest standard of education and customer service a true Centre for Excellence. Our focus on leadership development is inspired by the unique connection between two great leaders, Sir Winston Churchill, and Maersk Mc-Kinney Møller whose vision and benefaction created The Møller Centre at Churchill College. Our mission is to engage with clients to acquire knowledge for professional development, personal and business success in an executive environment. Our programmes are delivered under the Royal Charter of Churchill College, University of Cambridge. We understand the dynamics of leadership in organisations and their strategic challenges, and we strive to provide a learning experience which is fresh, relevant and practitioner-led. Our programmes can be delivered in the purpose-designed collaborative learning environment at The Møller Centre.
