The two-part piano recital is performed by an excellent pianist. With a glass of sparkling wine in your hand you will hear a selection of six to eight of Chopin s masterpieces, such as études, mazurkas, polonaises, nocturnes, impromptus, préludes, and scherzos. The tour takes you to the historical area of Gdansk, where you will have an opportunity to see the old harbor and the Crane Gate - Gdansk's iconic building. The walk will continue to the Long Market with Neptune Fountain and Artus Court. Further on we will stop at the monument to the Shipyard Workers - on Solidarnosc Square the starting point of the battle for democracy in Europe. In the historical Oliwa district you will see the house of Lech Walesa, electrician and leader of the Solidarity movement. In Oliwa cathedral you will have an opportunity to listen to a short organ music concert. Our guide will show you not only the most important monuments, but also all of the little details without which you would not feel the atmosphere of the city fully. Our Torun city walk includes the Old Town area, where you will see the Town Hall, which is a superb monument of the Medieval Burgher architecture of Europe. The next highlights are Artus Court, the Church of the Holy Spirit, Copernicus House, the Crooked Tower, the Bridge Gate, the Monument to Nicholas Copernicus, Under the Star House, and St. Johns Cathedral with the oldest medieval bell in Poland. Accommodation in Torun: **** PETITE FLEUR DAY 6 26/May/2009 (Tuesday) CZESTOCHOWA / KRAKOW Transfer from Torun to Krakow & Sightseeing Jasna Gora Time: 09:00 Transportation, driver, local guide at Jasna Gora included. Just after breakfast you will head to Krakow. On the way you will visit Czestochowa and Jasna Gora Monastery. The Monastery of Jasna Gora is home to the miraculous "Black Madonna", a Gothic painting of Our Lady. The mysterious image helped to make Czestochowa one of the most important pilgrimage destinations in the world - after Rome, Lourdes and Fatima. Our visit to the monastery includes the Miraculous Picture Chapel and the Basilica. You can also visit the 600th-Anniversary Museum, the Arsenal and the Treasury on your own. 5 Krakow City Walk (3h) Time: 11:00 Guide: English-speaking guide. Entrance fees not included. Tour An experienced private guide will take you around the magical Old Town, and walk up to the description: Castle and Cathedral on the Wawel hill. Along the Royal Route, you go down Kanonicza and Grodzka Streets to see the ancient Jagiellonian university areas, and then a gentle walk leads you through the largest mediaeval square in Europe. While there, you can stop to visit the oldest shopping mall, the Sukiennice cloth hall, and then the Church of the Virgin Mary (including the magnificent Gothic wooden altar by Wit Stwosz). The most well-know cemetery and genocide site in the world. Another must-see for everyone on Earth. This former Nazi German concentration camp makes a great impact because it lets you visualize at least part of the scale of the Holocaust. The Wieliczka Salt Mine is one of the most outstanding attractions in Europe and your visit to Krakow is incomplete without visiting this fabulous historical monument. 6 DAY 9 29/May/2009 (Saturday) KRAKOW / ZAKOPANE Time: 09:00 Zakopane tour At the reception desk of your hotel Transport with VW Sharan, English speaking driver and local guide, return ticket to the top of Mt. Gubalowka. Upon arrival in Zakopane, the tour starts with a ride up the funicular railway to the top of Mt. Gubalowka where you get a marvelous view of the Tatra mountain range. After a stroll on the summit, we return down to visit the historical part of Zakopane with its old highlander cottages, surrounded by ash trees and blackened by the sun. These wooden houses and churches were built in the Zakopane style by the famous Polish artist, Stanislaw Ignacy Witkiewicz. You will also visit the famous cemetery in Peksowy Brzyzek and the wooden chapel in Jaszczurowka. Wroclaw is undoubtedly one of the most marvelous places in Poland. Wroclaw is situated on 12 islands, and by visiting the oldest part of the city you ll visit the most significant of them, Ostrow Tumski (the Cathedral Island). This is the place where St. John the Baptist's Cathedral and the two-storey Gothic Holy Cross Church were constructed in the 13th Century. We then continue our walk to the University, with its magnificent Baroque hall of Aula Leopoldina.
