2 welcome Welcome to Orange Wifi Access. This service will give you internet access with speeds similar to broadband at thousands of locations worldwide. This guide will show you how to connect to the service.

3 introduction what is Wifi? Wifi or Wireless LAN is designed for high bandwidth wireless access for laptops and PDAs at specific sites such as your office, home or a public hotspot. It enables you to connect to the internet by picking up wireless signals transmitted from a local access point linked to a broadband connection. how does Orange Wifi Access work? Orange has agreements with a large number of partner networks to give you high speed access to public hotspots in thousands of locations worldwide. Orange will provide you with username and password access and you will be charged via your standard Orange bill.

4 what do I need to connect? You will need a laptop or PDA which either has built in Wifi capability or uses a Wifi-enabled datacard. If you have an IT Manager, they should be able to help you configure your device. You will need to have an Orange Business subscription to be able to purchase this service. how do I connect? There are three options available for purchasing Orange Wifi Access: 01 Business Everywhere Flexible Data bundles From the range of different bundles available, decide which is best suited to you. They can be used for 3G, GPRS and Wifi in the UK and abroad. Complete an order form to receive your permanent username and password for Orange Wifi Access. 02 Pay As You Consume Wifi You can request that Pay As You Consume be added to your account. We ll send you a username and then each time you want to access Orange Wifi, just send a blank text message to We ll then send you a password valid for one session to be used within 15 minutes of receipt. 03 One hour Wifi vouchers Purchase one hour vouchers by sending a blank text message to We ll send you an SMS containing a username and password so you can connect to the Orange Wifi Access service.

5 Each voucher gives you a total of 60 Wifi minutes for use over 24 hours and costs 6 (inc.vat). The cost will be added to your normal Orange bill. This can be found at Please see for full details on the tariffs available. how do I find a hotspot? You can use Orange Wifi Access at a wide range of locations both in the UK and abroad. These include train stations, airports, hotels and cafes. Hotspots can be found at Hilton Hotels, Caffè Nero, British Airways lounges, Ramada Jarvis hotels, Air France lounges and Accor hotels to name just a few. To search for a hotspot please use the Orange hotspot directory. An off-line hotspot directory is available via the hotspot locator button on the dashboard of the Business Everywhere software.

6 connecting using Business Everywhere One of the easiest ways to connect to the Orange Wifi Access service is to use the Business Everywhere software (this used to be called Mobile Office Card software). The features described in this user guide relate to the new Business Everywhere 7.1 software, but Mobile Office Card 7.0 can also be used to connect to Orange Wifi Access. This service can be accessed using Orange Wifi enabled datacards such as the Option GlobeTrotter Fusion. Alternatively you could use a laptop with NDIS 5.1+ built in Wifi capability such as Intel Centrino. The Business Everywhere software has the list of SSIDs for the Orange Wifi Access partner networks already programmed into the software. They will automatically appear in the list of available networks if you are within the range of a hotspot. 01 Make sure that the Wifi device you wish to use is selected. Click on Settings and Reporting and then in Select Device make sure that the correct device is showing - for example the Option Fusion WLAN or Intel Centrino. Click OK to return to the main dashboard. 02 If you are within range of an Orange Wifi Access partner network, then it should appear in the network display and an Orange logo will be shown next to the SSID.

You will be redirected to the home page of the hotspot operator. 04 Enter your login (including the realm for WeRoam) and password on these login pages. Please see later pages for more details on each provider. 05 Click login. 06 If you are connecting to an Orange France hotspot then a WISPr login page will appear. Please enter the relevent username and password details and click OK. This will enable you to connect without using the internet login page. 07 You can now connect to the internet including secure sites such as webmail. 08 If you want to launch a VPN to connect to your office applications such as your , first connect by clicking the internet button and then click the office button. Speak to your IT administrator if you need more information. 09 Disconnect by clicking the log out button on the Orange Partner web page (see later pages for more details) and then click the disconnect button on the Business Everywhere dashboard.

8 connecting using Windows It is also possible to connect to the Orange Wifi Access service without Business Everywhere. This can be done using the Windows connection manager. These instructions are based on the Windows XP operating system. 01 Click the Wireless Network Connection icon in your system tray. 04 You should be able to see the SSID of the hotspot in the list of available networks. Click on the required SSID and then click Connect. You will need to read and then tick the box to agree to the statement Allow me to connect to the selected wireless network, even though it is not secure - this is because there is no encryption on public Wifi networks. Please check with your IT administrator if you are not sure whether you should proceed. 02 Or go to Start > Control Panel > Network Connections. 03 Double click on Wireless Network Connection.

9 05 The SSIDs of some of our main partners include BTOpenzone, SurfandSip and Orange but please check the hotspot directory for a full list. This can be found at 06 Click Advanced if the SSID does not appear in the list of available networks. 07 Click Refresh to update the list of networks. 08 Click OK. 09 Your laptop should now be able to connect to the SSIDs listed if you are within range of the hotspot. 10 Once you are connected you can launch your browser and enter any public web address. You will be redirected to the login page of the hotspot provider. Please see later pages for more information on each provider.

10 logging on BT Openzone 02 Select Orange UK from the Choose your service provider drop box. BT Openzone have over 1600 Wifi hotspots in the UK and in British Airways lounges worldwide. Some of their key partners include Hilton Hotels and Ramada Jarvis hotels. They also have coverage at many of the main train stations and airports. 01 Once you have enabled Wifi and connected, launch your browser and enter the address for any public web site. You will then be redirected to the BT login page. 03 You will then be taken to the Orange login page.

11 04 Enter your login and password as they appeared in the text message and then click Sign me in. If the log out page has been accidentally closed, the URL to disconnect is 05 You are now connected and can connect to any internet site. 06 Once connected, a log out page opens in the background. This should not be closed, so please open a new browser window. 07 To log out, go to the log out page and then click Log me out.

12 logging on Orange France Orange France have over 7300 hotspots throughout France. They also have hotspots in the Accor Hotel chain in the UK and Belgium (for example Ibis, Novotel, Formule 1) and Air France lounges. 01 Once you have enabled Wifi and connected, launch your browser and enter the address for any public website. You will be redirected to the Orange France login page. 05 You are now connected and can browse any internet site. A second page will appear which will show you statistics for your current session. 02 Select Orange UK from the drop down list of Your wifi operator. 03 The screen will then refresh and display the Orange UK login pages. 04 Enter your login and password as it appeared in the text message you received. Then click OK. 06 You should also use this page to disconnect click on the disconnect button. If you have closed this window by mistake, you can log out by going to 10

13 logging on WeRoam WeRoam is an aggregator, which means that they do not run their own Wifi network but instead manage the interconnection between numerous WISPs and operators. Their current footprint covers over 10,600 hotspots worldwide. Some of their key partners include Surf and Sip (UK coverage in Caffè Nero), Wayport in the USA and Ganag in Germany. To log on to a WeRoam partner hotspot (once connected) you need to either look for the WeRoam logo on the landing page or find WeRoam in a drop down list of service providers or roaming partners. You should then enter your login and password on the WeRoam login page. You must remember to include the realm for Orange when entering your login, for example V123456@orange.co.uk how to log in at Caffè Nero 01 Enter your login including the realm in the username field e.g. V123456@orange.co.uk. 02 Enter your password. 03 Select WeRoam from the list of roaming partners on the home page. 04 Click Login. 11

14 05 You will then be connected and able to browse any internet site. 06 Please open a new browser window once you are connected and use the WeRoam partner web pages to log out. how to log in at Ganag 01 Click on the WeRoam logo on the main screen. 02 You will then be taken to the WeRoam login page. 03 Enter your login including the realm, e.g. V123456@orange.co.uk, in the username field. 04 Enter your password and click Login. 05 You will then be connected and able to browse any internet site. 06 Please open a new browser window once you are connected and use the WeRoam partner web pages to log out. 12

Users must know the SSID to connect to the Wireless LAN access point either because it is being broadcast publicly or is a private SSID which the user knows. PDA: Stands for Personal Digital Assistant. Many PDAs have touch screen, internet and capabilities. Access Point: The Access Point receives Wireless LAN traffic from devices within range and connects into the internet. WISP: Stands for Wireless Internet Service Provider. WISPr: Recommendations approved by the alliance which facilitate inter-network and interoperator roaming of Wifi users. 13
