1 Creating Quizzes in Camtasia 8: Camtasia Studi: Windws Camtasia is a ppular tl that is mainly used fr recrding screencasts and publishing t the web, but it can d much mre with the built in tls. One f the mst impactful features is the ability t create quizzes that place emphasis n key pints Creating a Quiz in Camtasia 8 Cmplete yur vide recrding prir t adding yur quiz Using the Camtasia Studi editing tl, ensure that all yur desired edits are cmpleted and taken care f prir t beginning this tutrial. Edits include making cuts, adding audi/vide tracks, additin f effects, and ppups. Finishing the edits prir t start f the quiz will simplify the prcess and eliminate the chance f cmplicatin later. Turn n the Quiz View Click n the Cg Icn lcated n the left side f the screen beneath Clip Bin Select Shw Quiz View (Ctrl + Q). 1

2 This will add the Quiz Track t yu timeline Befre After Place the Quiz Mve the playhead t yur desired lcatin fr the quiz. (T mve the playhead click and hld n the grey sectin then drag left r right t yur desired psitin n the timeline) Click n the Quizzing icn lcated t the right f Click Bin. *Nte* depending n the size f yur screen the Quizzing icn may be lcated after clicking n Mre Click the Add quiz buttn Yu will nw see yur quiz lcated abve the playhead 2

3 Creating yur Quiz Fill in the Quiz name: Decide n the tw ptins fr scring and displaying answers f yur quiz. Scre Quiz: Select this ptin if yu wuld like t have yur quiz autmatically graded. Yu can later set the ptins f what scre passes and the viewing percentage required t take the quiz. Nte that if this ptin is nt selected the ptin t select the crrect answer in the answer sectin is nt displayed. Viewers can see answers after submitting: Check this bx if yu want yur students t be able t review their answers as well as the crrect answer immediately after submitting the quiz. 4 Under Questin ptins, click the dwn arrw bx next t Questin type. Frm this menu yu may select frm Multiple Chice, Fill in the blank, Shrt Answer, r True/False questin types. Questin Optins Multiple Chice Example belw Click n <Type an answer chice here>, type yur desired answer chice and press the Enter key. Click the checkbx next t the crrect answer if yu selected Scre Quiz as a quiz ptin. Fill in the Blank Click n Default Questin Text, type yur questin text. Click n Default Answer Text, type in the acceptable answers in the Answers Bx. Nte in rder t be cunted crrect a student s answer must exactly match ne f the acceptable answers yu have prvided. Shrt Answer This type f questin cannt be graded autmatically and is nt included in the quiz scre. Answers can nly be accessed if yu decide t receive reprts f the grades (Cautin, this culd vilate FERPA rules and thus is strngly advised against usage). True/False Select whether the questin answer is True r False. Type the text f yur questin in the bx. Yu may d s by highlighting the default text and typing yur wn questin. Next, yu can write the answers. I chse a multiple chice questin with scre quiz checked. Therefre, I have t als select the crrect answer fr this questin. T change which answer is crrect click the checkbx next t the answer. Yu may nly select ONE crrect answer fr this questin type. 4

5 Yu may repeat this prcess using as many questins as yu desire. T d this simply click n Add questin and repeat the prcess. Yu may add mre than ne quiz t the timeline. Use as many as yu find necessary. T d s click Add quiz frm the Quizzing menu. Yu may als edit yur quizzes at any time by duble clicking n their icn in the timeline. Fr recrding the scres in Blackbard all the quizzes in a vide will be recrded as ne large quiz. Prducing yur vide with a quiz Yu have cmpleted all f yur edits t yur mvie and created the quiz(zes) yu want fr the vide. Nw it is time t prduce the vide int a frmat fr uplading t Blackbard. Click n Prduce and share lcated n the tl bar near the tp f the screen. Ding this will bring up the Camtasia Studi Prductin Wizard. (See SS belw) This wizard has many different ptins fr prducing vide and sharing it via many utlets. 5

6 Fr this, we will select MP4 with Smart Player (up t 720p). Yu may select any f the 480p, 720p, 1080p ptins depending n the definitin needed fr yur prject. Click next 6

7 The next screen in the prductin wizard is the Quiz Reprting Optins. Fr this there are a cuple f clicks. Check the bx next t Reprt quiz results using SCORM. Uncheck the bx marked Reprt quiz results thrugh this is a vilatin f FERPA and cannt be used. Click n SCORM ptins 7

8 On the Minifest Optins menu Click the dwn arrw next t versin and select 2004Define yur passing scre by percentage (click n the number and type yur percentage number nly. Define the viewing percentage required. If this ptin is used it recmmended that yu lwer the percentage t slightly belw 100%, this is because sme students may click ut f the vide a few secnds early t start the quiz. Click the radi buttn next t Prduce zip file Click OK Click Next 8

9 Prduce Vide Screen Give yur vide a name that yu can easily remember and defines yur prject. Chse a flder lcatin that yu can remember (Yu will need this lcatin later t uplad the file t Blackbard) Uncheck Uplad vide by FTP Click finish t create yur vide. Depending n the length f vide, quality f vide, and cmputer speed this may take sme time t cmplete. Uplading Vide t Blackbard and placing in a curse. Cngratulatins! Yu have created a vide and quiz in Camtasia and successfully prduced the vide. Nw, the final part is t uplad that vide nt yur Blackbard curse site. In rder t accmplish that yu must have 2 things: Yur zip file that was prduced in the final stage f prductin (it s in the flder yu created here) Lgin t yur Blackbard curse site and navigate t the sectin yu wish t uplad the vide. 9

10 On the Blackbard page yu wish t add the vide, lcate the Build Cntent menu and hver ver the dwn arrw then Click Cntent Package SCORM. Click Brwse My Cmputer Lcate the zip flder inside the flder yu were t remember n yur hard drive. Click Open Ensure yu file is attached by lcating the name next t Selected File -> File Name Click Submit Add Cntent Package (SCORM) Type in a title fr yur vide Type in a descriptin. 10

11 SCOMR Availability Click buttn next t Yes (left side f Yes) next t make SCORM Available Number f Attempts: Yu can allw a single attempt, multiple, r unlimited attempts. Limit Availability: Set this if yu want yur vide t nly be shwn during certain dates/times. Track Number f Views: Click the buttn next t Yes Grading Grade SCORM Click Grade Enter the Pints Pssible Enter the Title fr the clumn in the Gradebk Select ne f the fllwing: SCORM Scre the scre will be determined by dividing the pints pssible by the number f questins. 11

12 SCORM cmpletin Pints will be assigned fr cmpletin based upn the amunt f vide watched cmpared t the cmpletin percentage set when prducing the vide. SCORM satisfactin Pints assigned fr satisfactry respnses t quiz questins based upn the percentage crrect yu set when prducing the vide. Enter a due date (ptinal) Set Grade SCOS t N Select When SCORM is cmpleted, display scre in Grade Center Click Submit Yur vide shuld nw be displaying in yur page selected. T view yur vide Select Enter Student Preview frm the tp right f yur screen. 12

13 Navigate t the page cntaining the vide Click n the Vide (Nte yu will need t allw ppups fr the vide t wrk) Watch yur vide frm the ppup screen and take the quiz. T ensure yur SCORM is wrking take the test and check Grade Center, yur grades shuld appear autmatically. 13
