1 Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary and the Church of God of Prophecy Consortium LEADER OF LEADERS TRACK Syllabus THEOLOGY SURVEY II (TH 502) Nassau, Bahamas February 6-11, 2012 Professor Héctor Ortiz, D. Min.
2 GORDON-CONWELL/COGOP CONSORTIUM Nassau, Bahamas February 6-11, 2012 Theology Survey II TH 502 Professor: Héctor Ortiz, D. Min. Telephone: Course Objectives To enhance the students defining and clarifying his or her credo in light of the Holy Text in relation to its teachings on the subjects of Sin (Hamartiology), Salvation (Soteriology), the Holy Spirit (Pneumatology), the Church (Ecclesiology), and Last Things (Eschatology). Course Competencies This course is designed with the following objectives: A. To give the student an understanding of how to articulate his or her doctrinal position of the hope of salvation and the need for holy living. B. To help the student to explain the vital relationship of the Holy Spirit in the life of the believer. C. To help the student better explain the mission and role of God s Ecclesia in reaching lost humanity in view of the last things that shall be fulfilled. A Core Value The believer, being turned to God in penitent faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, is accountable to God for living a life separated from sin and characterized by the fruit of the Spirit. It is his or her responsibility to contribute by word and deed to the universal spread of the Gospel. But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have (1 Peter 3:15). 1

This means that all written assignments are to reflect the student s own work and to be submitted for credit only in this course. Where other secondary sources are used, appropriate dependence with the proper use of footnotes must be adhered to. Students cannot copy the work of each other. When this is discovered each individual will receive a failing grade for the course. Relative to the entire course of study, it must be assumed that cheating and plagiarism are sins contrary to God s laws and the mission of Gordon-Conwell. Plagiarism is using the intellectual property of others without proper citation, giving the impression that it is the student s own work. Be aware that if assignments are discovered to contain plagiarized materials, the assignment will be failed. 3
5 Student Responsibility The syllabus is being sent well in advance of the class. Students have plenty of time to obtain their books and complete the reading assignments and two papers that are due upon arrival the first day of class.
