2 WARRANTY REGISTRATION Please read this warranty card. Keep your purchase receipt to enable you to proceed quickly in the event of a Warranty Service. Warranty Terms & Conditions 1. TEAC warrants to the original retail purchaser only, that this product is free from defects in material and workmanship under normal domestic use and authorises free service during the warranty period at any TEAC Authorised Service Centre only. TEAC warranty only applies to products purchased, used and serviced in Australia. 2. Subject to the terms herein, this warranty effectively covers the equipment as specified in the Warranty Periods Table below from the date of purchase. In Home Service/Pick up* will only be provided as part of this warranty if all the following conditions are met; a) The product as indicated in the Warranty Period Table. b) The product is within the warranty period. c) The product is located within the normal service area of the local TEAC Authorised Service Centre. In any other situation or circumstance, where an In Home Service/Pick up* call is made, a service fee will be charged by the Service Provider including a travel fee if outside normal service area. If TEAC determines that the product is not repairable on site, TEAC can complete the repair by taking the product to a TEAC Authorised Service Centre. Where In-Home service/pick up* is not available, the purchaser is required to send the product to the nearest TEAC Authorised Service Centre for repair. In this event, a copy of this warranty card and a copy of your receipt of purchase must be enclosed to be a valid warranty. Such equipment or part must be sent freight prepaid to your nearest TEAC Authorised Service Centre. After the repair, the product will be available for collection by or return to the purchaser at purchaser s cost. The warranty does not cover freight or insurance. In all cases of transit damage or lost, a claim must be filed against the carrier by the purchaser, even if shipment is arranged by TEAC. TEAC inhome service may also be available at a fee upon request. 4. Accessories, Remote, including power adaptors, AV box, TV tuners, etc, are warranted to be defect free for 1 year. 5. Replacement of spare parts under normal usage; except cabinet, front panel, knob, removable accessories, battery, consumable, AC cord, connecting cord and other accessories, are warranted as specified in Warranty Periods Table, and will be repaired or replaced at the sole judgement of TEAC. 6. The warranties hereby conferred do not extend to, and exclude, any cost associated with the installation, deinstallation or re-installation of a product (be it in-home or otherwise), including costs related to the mounting, demounting or remounting of any screen, (and any other ancillary activities), delivery, handling, freighting, transportation or insurance of the product or any part thereof or replacement of and do not extend to, and exclude, any damage or loss occurring by reason of, during, associated with, or related to such installation, de-installation, re-installation or transit. 7. Normal customer maintenance as described in the owner s manual is not covered by this warranty (such as cleaning VCR heads etc.) 8. Service will be provided only during normal business hours and under safety conditions and circumstances. 2

3 9. This warranty does not apply to equipment showing abuse, damage or that it may have been tampered with, altered or repaired outside any TEAC Authorised Service Centre. If so, the warranty will be void. *Your nearest Authorised TEAC Service Centre is listed in your Owner s Manual, please refer to TEAC website for up to date list. 10. No one is authorised to assume any liability on behalf of TEAC or impose any obligation on it, in connection with the sale of any equipment other than as stated in this warranty and outlined above. 11. In no event will TEAC be responsible or liable for indirect or consequential damages from interrupted operations or other causes. 12. Warranty is not transferable to any subsequent purchaser if the product is sold during the warranty period. 13. 5 Safety Precautions To achieve the utmost in enjoyment and performance, and in order to become familiar with its features, please read this manual carefully before attempting to operate the unit, this will assure you years of faithful, trouble free performance and listening pleasure. Important Notes This safety and operating instruction should be retained for future reference. The apparatus shall not be exposed to dripping or splashing and that no objects filled with liquids, such as vases, shall be placed on apparatus. Avoid installing the unit in locations described below: o Places exposed to direct sunlight or close to heat radiating appliances such as electric heaters. o On top of other stereo equipment that radiate too much heat. o Places blocking ventilation or dusty places. o Places subject to constant vibration. o Humid or moist places. No naked flame sources such as lighted candles should be placed on or near the unit. The use of apparatus in moderate climates. Operate turning controls and switches as instructed in the manual. Before turning on the power for the first time, make sure the power cord is properly installed. For safety reasons, do not remove any covers or attempt to gain access to the inside of the product. Refer any servicing to qualified personnel. Do not attempt to remove any screws, or open the casing of the unit; there are no user serviceable parts inside, refer all servicing to qualified service personnel. 6 Safety Information Some Do s And Don ts On the Safe Use Of Equipment This equipment has been designed and manufactured to meet international safety standards but, like any electrical equipment, care must be taken if you are to obtain the best results and safety is to be assured. DO read the operating instructions before you attempt to use the equipment. DO ensure that all electrical connections (including the mains plug, extension leads and interconnections between the pieces of equipment) are properly made and in accordance with the manufacturer s instructions. Switch off and withdraw the mains plug before making or changing connections. DO consult your dealer if you are ever in doubt about the installation, operation or safety of your equipment. DON T remove any fixed cover as this may expose dangerous voltages. Overheating will cause damage and shorten the life of the equipment. DON T allow electrical equipment to be exposed to dripping or splashing, or objects filled with liquids, such as vases, to be placed on the equipment. DON T place hot objects or naked flame sources such as lighted candles or nightlights on, or close to equipment. High temperatures can melt plastic and lead to fires. DON T use equipment such as personal stereos or radios so that you are distracted from the requirements of traffic safety. DON T listen to headphones at high volume, as such use can permanently damage your hearing. DON T leave equipment switched on when it is unattended unless it is specifically stated that it is designed for unattended operation. Switch off using the switch on the equipment and make sure that your family knows how to do this. Special arrangements may need to be made for infirm or handicapped people. DON T continue to operate the equipment if you are in any doubt about if it s working normally or if it s damaged in any way. Switch it off and withdraw the mains plug and consult your dealer. ESD Remark: In case of malfunction due to electrostatic discharge just reset the product (reconnection of power source may be required) to resume normal operation. 10 Controls Overview (b) Unit Back View Socket Headphone Socket: Remark a. A 3.5mm Headphone Socket located on the rear of your radio is provided for use with either headphones or an earpiece. b. Inserting a plug automatically mutes the internal loudspeaker. Line out socket: a. Red/Black RCA Line out sockets located on the rear of your radio is provided for connecting the audio signal to an external amplifier. b. Inserting a line out audio cable will not mute the internal loudspeaker. c. Set the volume control to minimum if desired. AUX IN socket a. Unique designed for connecting external audio device. 10

11 DAB MODE Turning on the DAB radio 1. Extend the antenna found on the top of radio, press STANDBY/ON to switch it on. 2. For initial use, radio will make a full scan, and store the stations in its memory. This will take a while, please be patient. Later, it will Note: a. the DAB stations will be displayed in alphanumeric order. The first station in the list will be selected. b. If no DAB signal is found in your area, it may be necessary for you to relocate your radio. 11

12 3. Turn the Scroll knob to cycle through stations list. When the desired station is display, press the knob to select it. 4. To find and add new stations, please refer to the following instructions. Finding and adding new Note: To obtain maximum performance, it is highly recommended to place unit at a place with low interference. 1. Press MENU at first. 2. Turn the Scroll knob to < full scan >. 3. Press the Scroll knob to confirm. Now, radio will scan all the DAB channels and add any new stations available to the station list. 12

14 Manual Tune 1. Press MENU at first. 2. Turn the Scroll knob to < Manual tune >. 3. Press the Scroll knob to confirm, the display will be show the channel number and frequency list. 4. Turn the Scroll knob to step between the channels and press it to select the current Note: If there is a multiplex corresponding to this channel and frequency, then the display will show a tuning meter with the signal strength and the multiplex name after a few seconds. 5. Press the Scroll knob to exit this operation. 14

15 DRC (Dynamic Range Control) value You can set the level of the compression of stations to eliminate the differences in dynamic range or sound level between radio Note: Set DRC to off indicates no compression, set DRC to low indicates little compression, set DRC to high shows maximum compression. 1. Press MENU at first. 2. Turn the Scroll knob to <DRC>. 3. Press the Scroll knob to confirm. 4. Turn the Scroll knob to select your required option, then press this knob to select. 15

16 To change station order 1. Press MENU at first. 2. Turn the Scroll knob to < Station order >. 3. 17 Prune Note: This operation will remove inactive stations from the station list. 1. Press MENU at first. 2. Turn the Scroll knob to < Prune >. 3. Press the Scroll knob to confirm. 4. Turn the Scroll knob to Yes, press it to confirm. 17

18 To Show the Signal Strength in DAB mode 1. While operating in DAB mode, press INFO to display the signal strength of the current station on the LCD. The indicator on the signal bar shows the minimum acceptable signal Note: Stations with signal strength below the minimum signal level will not provide a steady stream of audio. How to change the Station Information Press INFO button repeatedly to view different information while in DAB and FM mode. This function is not available in Auxiliary Input mode. 18

19 FM MODE FM Mode General Operation 1. Power up radio, and then press Mode repeatedly until < FM Mode > appeared. 2. For initial use, it will start at the beginning of the FM frequency range (87.50MHz). Otherwise, the last FM station you were listening will be selected. 3. You can manually change the FM frequency by 0.05MHz per step by turning the Scroll knob. 4. To operate Auto Search function, press the Scroll Note: a. The display will shows that the unit is searching through the frequency range until a station is found. b. When unit reached the end of the frequency range, it will restart search from the beginning of the frequency range. 19

20 Setting Station Presets Your radio can store up to 8 DAB and 8 FM preset stations. To store the current station to P1-P4: 1. Press and hold one of the preset buttons until it say preset # stored. To store the current station to P5-P8: 1. Press Shift first. 2. Press and hold one of the preset buttons until it says preset # stored. Selecting a Preset station To select a preset station from P1-P4: 1. Press Mode to change to your required mode, and then press relative preset button. To select a preset station from P5-P8: 1. Press Mode to convert into relative mode. 2. Press Shift. 3. Finally, press relative preset button. 20

22 Scan setting 1. Press MENU, and unit will display such as below. 2. When cursor points at Scan setting, press the Scroll knob to Note: There are only two options available ('Strong stations only' and 'All stations'). 3. Turn the Scroll knob to your required option, and then press it to confirm. Audio setting 1. Press MENU first, and then turn the Scroll knob to < Audio setting >. 2. 23 AUX IN MODE 1. Switch radio on and press Mode repeatedly until < Auxiliary Input Mode > is appeared. 2. By connecting your external music player via 3.5mm jack, your radio is transformed into a high quality audio speaker system. 3. Connect one end of the cable lead to the headphone (or auxiliary out) socket of your source device, the other end connect to AUX IN socket on the rear of your radio. 4. To gain optimal volume levels, it is recommended to adjust the output volume level on the source device. 23

24 System setup How to enter system setup 1. Press MENU at first, and then turn the Scroll knob to < System >. 2. Press the Scroll knob to confirm. 3. Turn the Scroll knob to cycle through options, by which you can find Sleep, Alarm, Time, Backlight, Factory Reset and SW version available. J The following pages will provide you more details. 24

25 How to set sleep 1. It can be activated from < System > < Sleep >, press the Scroll knob to confirm. 2. Turn the Scroll knob to change the sleep period which is between 0 90 minutes. 3. When your required sleep time is display, press the Scroll knob to Note: a. The interval time is 15 minutes per step. b. The program will turn off after reaching this pre-defined period. c. To continue operating the unit, press STANDBY/ ON button. 25

26 How to set Clock 1. It can be activated from < System > < Time >, press the Scroll knob to Note: below item C and item D will explain how to set the time. A. Set 12/24 hour format a. While cursor point to < Set 12/24 hour >, press the Scroll knob to confirm. b. Turn the Scroll knob to your required option, and then press it to confirm. B. Set Date format a.) Similar to above step 1, turn the Scroll knob to < Set date format >. b.) Press the Scroll knob to Note: You can select either DD-MM-YYYY or 'MM-DD-YYY'. c.) Turn the Scroll knob to your favor one, press it to confirm. 26

27 C. Set Time / Date (Manually) a.) It can be activated from < System > < Time > < Set Time/Date >. b.) Press the Scroll knob to confirm. c.) Turn the Scroll knob to change the hour, and then press it to confirm. d.) Turn the Scroll knob to change the minutes, and then press it to confirm. Now you can proceed to set the date. e.) Using the same method as set time to set the date. 27

28 D. Auto update a.) It can be activated from < System > < Time > < Auto update >. b.) Press the Scroll knob to Note: There are two options available ( Auto update from DAB and No update ). c.) Turn the Scroll knob to Auto update from DAB, press it to confirm. 28

29 How to set Note: to do this setting, ensure successful set clock at first. 1. It can be activated from < System > < Alarm >. 2. Press the Scroll knob to confirm, meanwhile, the alarm icon is blinking. 3. Press the Scroll knob to enter setting mode. 4. Turn the Scroll knob to Alarm On, 29

30 5. Press the Scroll knob to confirm, refer setting the clock to set Alarm time. 6. Press the Scroll knob to confirm, then turn the Scroll Knob to adjust the alarm duration. Each step will increase duration by 15 minutes. You can adjust alarm duration between Note: After alarm reached the snooze time you ve set, and within this Duration, the alarm will ring again. 7. Press SELECT to confirm, and then turn the Scroll knob to set the alarm source. You can choose between DAB, FM or Note: You can also select < Last listened >, so that previously used source will be use for alarm. 8. Press SELECT to confirm, and then turn the Scroll knob to set the frequency of alarm, by which Daily/ Once /weekends/weekdays are available. 30

31 9. Press SELECT to confirm. To cancel Alarm temporarily: When alarm is ringing, press the Scroll knob or STANDBY/ON to Snooze alarm, the Snooze icon will be display on the Note: a. Press the Scroll knob repeatedly to adjust Snooze time 5, 10, 15, 30 mins in turn. b. The alarm will ring again after the pre-defined period of time elapsed. C. During snooze time, you can activate your radio by pressing STANDBY/ON. To cancel Alarm permanently: Besides performing a factory reset, you can also cancel alarm such as below instructions: 1. It can be activated from < System > < Alarm >, press the Scroll knob to confirm. 2. Turn the Scroll knob to convert alarm status from On to Off, press it to confirm. 3. Finally, turn the Scroll knob to < Save >, press it to confirm. icon will disappeared from LCD display. 31

32 How to set Backlight A. At power on condition 1. It can be activated from < System > < Backlight >. 2. Press the Scroll knob to confirm. 3. Select Power On, press the Scroll knob to enter, and then turn it to cycle through options and select your required Note: There are three options available ( High, Medium and low ). 4. Press the Scroll knob to confirm. B. At Standby condition 1. Continue above step4, next you need turn the Scroll knob to Standby, press it to confirm. 2. Turn the Scroll knob to your required setting, High, Medium or low, and then press it to confirm is done! 32

33 How to Factory Note: Factory reset means delete all of the preset stations and return its factory settings. 1. It can be activated from < System > < Factory reset >. 2. Press the Scroll knob to confirm. 3. Turn the Scroll knob to Yes. 4. Press the Scroll knob to confirm, then unit will clear all memory and restart. 5. Now, the presets are being erased and the radio is being returned to its factory settings. 33

34 How to get SW Version 1. It can be activated from < System > < SW version >. 2. Press the Scroll knob and SW version will be display on LCD screen. 34
