Notice that most of the passages that deal with angels sinning or falling are in the past tense. Notice how their sin is associated with the fall of Lucifer. My belief is, therefore, that when Lucifer decided to try to place himself on the throne of God (Isa 14:12; Ez. 29:12-19; Lk. 10:18; 1 Ti. 3:6), the angels were given the chance to decide to follow him or to follow God. Those that decided to follow Lucifer were cast out of heaven to become demons. Those that chose God remained as His servants. Either way, the decision was permanent. I think that it is relevant that God s angels seem to be particularly sensitive to being worshiped by men.
