1 Jack Hunt Cluster Sports Partnership 2014 / 2015 (Highlees Primary School) Outcome Action Staff Olympic Legacy Maintain the London 2012 pledge to inspire a generation through regular Legacy Challenges by; - Improving participation in intra and inter school sport - Supporting schools with achieving Healthy Schools Status / links with Change4Life - Develop opportunities for students to achieve and pass each challenge e.g. National Schools Sports Week / Legacy Tour / Paralympic Days - Increase the number of Play Makers and play leader opportunities in each cluster primary school - Produce and promote (working with Ambassadors) the Legacy challenge in each cluster primary school - Implement across each primary school. ensure baseline data is collected to monitor future impact - Provide regular updates for staff and students - Ensure opportunities exist for students to achieve each legacy challenge - Include parental guidance sheet - Develop a Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 resource - 20 Play Maker places funded through Sport Premium contribution to JH Chris Game Schools handed KS1 and KS2 Legacy booklets. All schools submitted application for the Sainsburys School Games kitemark Opportunity to train 20 x Year 5 as playground leaders. Change 4 Life equipment available for schools to borrow. Ambassador Programme - Work to develop the sports ambassador role across the Jack Hunt cluster primary schools - Bronze Ambassadors to have a key role in developing sport and PE - Pathway for Ambassadors from primary to secondary school - Link to National Scheme Ambassador Scheme - Link to Legacy Challenge - Co-ordinate regular ambassadors meetings across the cluster and feedback to PLT outcomes
2 Young Ambassador Conference held at Jack Hunt School on Wednesday 8 th October. 4 Bronze Ambassador trained from Highlees primary school The role of the Young Ambassador and how the Legacy project will work within school Schools to advise Tim of a launch date/assembly if required. Many schools opting to use this in the run up to National School Sports Week CPD Co-ordinated approach to CPD across the cluster to support the development of PE and Sport. - Review skills of Primary staff, lunchtime supervisors, teaching assistants - Assess needs and plan a termly programme of CPD to support professional and personal development - Focus on practical knowledge of sporting activities and development of outstanding PE teaching - Develop a CPD cluster wide calendar All Primary Staff KS1 Gymnastics course hosted at Sacred Heart Primary School on 29 th September 1 Member of staff attended Val Sabin Action Kids Course hosted at Sacred Heart Primary on Monday 20 th October BUPA Start to Move course hosted at Jack Hunt School on Friday 5 th December Further CPD Opportunities booked in form the spring/summer term. All available to view on the Sports Partnership Calendar. Schools to ensure information gained from CPE Courses is disseminated through to other primary staff to ensure impact and outcomes are achieved. Gifted and Talented (PE and Sport) Establish a primary G and T pathway across the Sport Premium Cluster in partnership with Anglia Ruskin University (ARU) - Develop primary and secondary pathway for Elite Sports performers (Junior Athlete Education JAE) and high level PE performers - Minimum of one event per term to raise awareness and support the development of JAE and G and T PE students.
3 Current discussions with ARU, Lincoln University and Tracey Mcartney (Personal Trainer) and Nutritionist around providing workshops to support talented athletes/students. Out-of-hours learning Co-ordinate 10 weeks of coaching in each cluster primary schools - All 8 cluster schools to receive 10 weeks (one session a week) of sports coaching - Schools decide on sport to meet needs of students Schools to notify Tim of requirements for the Spring/Summer Term Competitions and Festivals Develop and deliver a programme of intra and inter school fixtures for the cluster - Develop an agreed termly calendar of competitions - Create cluster leagues in targeted sports. - Liaise with the School Games Organiser to ensure the cluster calendar compliments Peterborough wide competition. - Engage non-cluster primary schools in sporting competitions Year 3 Kingball Festival held at Jack Hunt School on Friday 24 th October 30 students attended Year 5 Football and Netball Festival held at Jack Hunt School on Monday 24 th November - 30 Students attended Year 4 Dodgeball Festival held at Jack Hunt School on Monday 8 th December 30 students attended. 7 weeks of year 5/6 football held at the grange Regular competitive football matches against other cluster schools. 80 Students from across the Sports Partnership involved each week. Highlees have sent 2 teams each week.
4 Promotion and Marketing Raise the profile of the joint sports partnership work in each primary school and local press. - Provide information and photos on primary cluster sporting events and initiatives for school websites, noticeboards and local press Sports Partnership write ups have been sent out to primary staff for the following; Young Ambassador Conference, Kingball, Dodgeball, Football, Netball festivals, Sports Awards Evening Information has been published in the Peterborough Evening Telegraph about the work of the Jack Hunt Sports Partnership. Daily Physical Activity - Investigate programmes to include daily physical activity as part of the school day Ongoing work to establish a regular fitness day/week Highlees Primary have also been involved with a 12 week Health and Wellbeing programme. 8 students have attended fitness sessions 3 times a week in addition to their regular PE lessons. Impact reports and Progress information will follow. Cost : 4000
5 Additional Bolt-On Support (Non-Core Offer : Schools to fund separately) Outcome Action Costs Improve the range and provision of sporting experience for primary school students - Co-ordinate sailing and canoeing for primary schools in partnership with Rutland Water Sports Centre (Anglian Water) Jack Hunt to provide transport where possible - Investigate local providers for schools to use - Cost per pupil depending on activities - JH staff to support 150 per day Increase the volunteer base for primary schools to support a wider enrichment offer Develop a parent as volunteers programme - Co-ordinate a day leader award (1 day) - Co-ordinate basic first aid (3 hours) - Co-ordinate safeguarding training (3 hours) - DBS check (primary school responsibility) - 15 per candidate ??? Delivering Outstanding PE lessons Health and Well-Being NB all costs (except candidate fee) to be split across schools sending parents. Max of 5 parents per school - Co-ordinate a bespoke programme of CPD to focus on the delivery of outstanding PE lessons. - In-school delivery and support - Whole school twilight Q and A and additional follow up Develop a health and wellbeing resource for schools to use to improve inactivity and support improvement in attainment for Key Stage 2 students.
