1 Extendable Trailer Towing Mirror Installation Instructions For: Ford F150 CIPA Part Numbers & WARNING Manufacturer recommends this installation be carried out by a professional installer or your local dealership. PLEASE read ALL INSTRUCTIONS and warnings carefully before installing this product. These mirrors are designed only for the vehicle listed on this page. Ensure that the fitting instructions are followed exactly, as failure to do so may result in incorrect installation, or result in the driver, passenger or vehicle being placed in a hazardous condition, as well as voiding any warranty, implied or otherwise. 2 Note: Two people are required for proper installation of this product. Vertical Door Roll Window Down Door Handle Surround Bezel Switch Bezel STEP ONE Getting Ready Open the door and roll the window completely down. Read all instructions thoroughly before proceeding to Step Two. Door Panel Vertical Door Corner Door Note: The 1997 vehicle has a different door trim package than later model years. Steps that are different for these vehicles will be identified with the model year. Roll Window Down Switch Bezel Plug 1997 MODEL YEAR Rev. 2 1/05 nml Document # page 2 of 8

3 STEP TWO Removing Door Vertical Start at the top of the Vertical Door panel and pull it firmly away from the door until the spring steel clips release from the door. Finish by pulling the bottom of the panel away from the door. Set the the Vertical Door aside for later use. Vertical Door Remove Screw under trim Use a medium sized phillips screwdriver to remove the screw located under the the Vertical Door. Set it aside to be reused later. STEP TWO MODEL YEAR Removing Door Vertical Start at the top of the Vertical Door panel and pull it firmly away from the door until the spring steel clips release from the door. Finish by pulling the bottom of the panel away from the door. Set the the Vertical Door aside for later use. Use a small sized slotted screwdriver to push in the center of the plastic rivet until it unlocks. Then use the blade to pry the rivet away from the door panel. Set it aside to be reused later. Vertical Door Push in to unlock Rivet Pry Rivet out 1997 MODEL YEAR STEP THREE MODEL YEAR Removing Corner Door Start at the top of the Corner Door panel and pull it firmly away from the door until the spring steel clips release from the door. Finish by pulling the bottom of the panel away from the door. Set the the Vertical Door aside for later use. Push in to unlock Rivet Corner Door Use a small sized slotted screwdriver to push in the center of the plastic rivet until it unlocks. Then use the blade to pry the rivet away from the door panel. Set it aside to be reused later. Pry Rivet out 1997 MODEL YEAR Rev. 2 1/05 nml Document # page 3 of 8

4 STEP FOUR Removing Door Handle Surround Bezel Use a small slotted screwdriver to pry the Door Hendle Surround Bezel away from the door. Start from the rear and pull toware the front. Set the bezel aside for later use. Door Handle Surround Bezel STEP FIVE Removing Screw Use a medium sized phillips screwdriver to remove the screw from the door. Set the screw aside to be reused later. Remove Screw STEP SIX Removing Switch Bezel Use a small slotted screwdriver to pry the Switch Bezel up from door starting from the front and pulling forward. Switch Bezel STEP SEVEN Disconnecting Electrical Connectors Squeeze the connector tabs inward and pull the plugs away from the bezel to disconnect. Set the Switch Bezel aside for later use. 5 STEP EIGHT Disconnecting courtesy light Grasp light and turn 1/4 to release. Turn Light 1/4 Turn to Release STEP NINE MODEL YEAR Removing Door Handle Remove the plug from the Door Panel. Push from inside the panel until the plug disengages. Set the plug aside to be reused later. 8mm Door Handle Retention Bolt Door Handle Use an 8mm socket to loosen the door handle retention bolt until the Door Handle is free from the mechanism. Set it aside to be reused later. Use 8mm Socket Push out Plug 1997 MODEL YEAR STEP TEN Removing Door Panel Grasp the Door Panel as shown. Pull firmly upward to disengage the trim from the door. Set it aside to be reinstalled later. Remove Door Panel Rev. 2 1/05 nml Document # page 5 of 8

6 STEP ELEVEN Removing Gasket Remove the interior gasket by firmly pulling it away from the inside of the door. Set it aside for later use. Remove Interior Gasket STEP TWELVE Disconnecting factory mirror Gently push in connector tab and pull the plug away. Remove Door Panel STEP THIRTEEN Removing factory mirror Using an 11mm deep well socket, remove the three nuts securing mirror. Discard nuts. Remove 11mm Nuts STEP FOURTEEN Cutting harness With a pair of wire cutters, cut the factory mirror wires as close to the mirror as possible. Expose one inch of wires by pushing sheath down or trimming. Cut and Expose 1 of Wires Factory Mirror Rev. 2 1/05 nml Document # page 6 of 8

7 Match Wire Colors per Chart STEP FIFTEEN Splicing harness Match the wire colors as stated below and secure them in the butterfly splices as pictured. Squeeze Tap Shut Butterfly Splice Left Hand Mirror Body harness Yellow Wire Blue Wire Red Wire Xtendable Yellow Wire Blue Wire Red Wire Right Hand Mirror Body Harness Yellow Wire Purple Wire Green Wire Xtendable Yellow Wire Blue Wire Red Wire Insert the matching wires into the butterfly splices as far as possible. Use a pair of pliers to firmly squeeze the tap shut. Close the tap wing. Tape the wire harness together as shown. Close Tap Wing Tape Harness STEP SIXTEEN Installing X-Mount Mirror Feed the wire harness through the center hole and into the door. Reconnect it to the connector plug. 8 STEP SEVENTEEN Installing X-Mount Mirror Slide the correct handed Reinforcement plates over the studs in the door. (note: 90 degree vertical bend in plate to wrap around door sheet metal - face toward mirror. Reinforcement Plate STEP EIGHTEEN Fastening X-Mount Install a 10mm nut from the parts kit over each of the studs. Use a 10mm deep well socket to tighten the nuts in an alternating pattern to 53 in. lbs. Tighten Nuts to 53 in. lbs. STEP NINETEEN Reinstalling Door Panels Replace the gasket and door trim panels removed in Steps Two through Eleven. Reverse the steps to reinstall the panels. Make sure that you follow the steps that apply to your vehicle. STEP TWENTY Repeat this installation procedure with the remaining mirror on the other side of the vehicle. This completes the installation of your Towing Mirror. Rev. 2 1/05 nml Document # page 8 of 8
