Africa s Fastest Growing Economy and Largest Oil Exporter is Open for Business Angola is one of the world s fastest growing economies and has surpassed Nigeria to become Africa s largest producer of crude oil. However, Angola is more than just oil; non-oil sectors have in recent years experienced tremendous growth as the economy is expanding, diversifying and maturing. Further, Angola s massive government investments generated numerous business opportunities. The strong economic growth is attracting an increasing numbers of foreign exporters and investors to Angola. In recent years several large Danish companies have successfully entered Angola and are currently expanding their business in the country. The delegation will naturally explore the opportunities within these sectors. However, large investment programs are taking place in Angola to diversify the economy and build the infrastructure and this opens up opportunities in many other sectors. Further, imports to Angola in most sectors are increasing rapidly as the economy and purchasing power grows and this poses opportunities in a number of areas. Oil Angola s oil sector is very vibrant and Angola is now Africa s largest oil exporter. The national oil company Sonangol and the many international firms in this sector operating in Angola together constitute a very strong business potential for the Danish oil sector. Infrastructure & Construction Since the civil war ended in 2002, Angola s infrastructure has been in serious need of reconstruction. Roads, schools, hospitals, bridges, office blocks, hotels, industrial parks are now being built at an accelerated speed, not just in the capital, Luanda, but also in the rural areas. Agribusiness Angola is one of the most fertile countries in the world and agriculture is undoubtedly the country s biggest employer. The government is to invest more than USD 1bn in agricultural development including agro-processing to strengthen food security and reduce costly food imports. ANGOLA Cleantech & Energy As part of the climate changes adjustment efforts, the Angolan government encourages all sectors of activity to use cleantech in their industrial production processes. In this regard, the Ministry of Environment has initiated a pilot project in four regions of Angola in order to increase the use of cleantech. The project is estimated to account for USD 19.5 million.
