Furthermore, this change eliminates the need for a copy of the jump height card to be submitted with an entry form. Dogs without a valid Jump Height Card/Form may still compete; but they must be measured by the Judge of Record PRIOR to running in their class and this measurement will be valid for this trial only. ALL dogs without a valid Jump Height Card/Form must be measured at some time during the trial. It is the exhibitor s responsibility to have their dog measured prior to running and failure to do so will result in the cancellation of any qualifying scores. NEW Simplified Jump Height Card Process When filling out the entry form, there is a new section at the top of the form for exhibitors to designate whether your dog has a valid jump height card or if your dog needs to be measured. Please check the appropriate box so that the Trial Secretary knows whether to include your dog on the Dogs To Be Measured List. It is no longer required that you submit a copy of your dog s jump height card with your entry form or show it during day of show check-in. DOGS ELIGIBLE TO ENTER This trial is open to Border Terriers only over the age of 15 months that are registered with the American Kennel Club or are registerable that have obtained an AKC PAL/ILP number. Dogs should be physically sound. Dogs that are blind or deaf shall not be eligible, and neither are bitches in season, aggressive dogs, or dogs suffering from any deformity, injury, or illness which may affect the dog s physical or mental performance. No dog shall compete if it is taped or bandaged in any way or has anything attached to it for medical purposes. Puppies under four months of age are strictly prohibited from the trial grounds. OBSTACLES AND RING CONDITIONS Obstacles will meet the specifications for obstacles in the current edition of the Regulations for Agility Trials. The new breakaway tire will be used. All classes will take place indoors on artificial turf. Ring size will be 85 x 115 and fully fenced. Entries must be delivered by multi-state or multi-national postal or carrier service, including but not limited to USPS, FedEx, UPS, and DHL. You must waive the signature requirement for delivery services, if applicable. No entries will be accepted by phone or hand-delivery. Entries are limited to a maximum of 10 dogs per envelope. No entry shall be made and no entry shall be accepted which specifies any conditions as to its acceptance. Illegible entries will not be processed and will be returned to the exhibitor. Returned checks do not constitute a valid entry and the Trial Secretary will add a $35 collection fee to the amount of each returned check. Foreign exhibitors must pay by international money order or credit card.

3 ONLINE ENTRIES This trial is accepting online entries through During the first 48 hours after opening, the initial limit of entries designated as either online or paper will be set as follows. 50% online and 50% paper. If either form of entry has not filled at the end of the 48 hour time period, the club reserves the right to decrease or increase either one accordingly. COURSE WALK-THROUGHS AND WARM-UP INFORMATION Handlers in all classes are permitted to walk the course, without a dog, during a walk-through period held prior to the start of the class. The walk-through is restricted to handlers entered in that class only. A warm-up area, consisting of a regulation agility jump, will be provided for exhibitors. The warm-up area is to be used exclusively for warming up the dog and not for training or relieving of the dog. RIBBONS, AWARDS, AND PRIZES Rosettes and ribbons will be awarded in each class/jump height division in each class as follows. First Place... Blue Rosette Second Place... Red Rosette Third Place...Yellow Rosette Fourth Place...White Rosette Qualifying... Dark Green Ribbon Prizes will be awarded in each class/jump height division as follows. First Fourth Place...Ceramic ($8 value) A New Title rosette will be awarded to all dog and handler teams finishing a title. A MACH or PACH rosette and decorated MACH or PACH bar will be awarded to all dog and handler teams that attain their MACH or PACH. A PAX rosette will be awarded to all dog and handler teams that attain their PAX. Please let us know if you may finish your MACH or PACH at our trial. CHALLENGE TROPHIES Challenge trophies are offered through the Border Terrier Club of America, Inc. for competitions at the National Specialty shows only. For permanent possession, the trophy must be won three times by the same owner, not necessarily with the same dog or at consecutive shows. The TATE TROPHY offered by Sallie Eure Redding, will be awarded for Regular classes in Novice, Open, and Excellent/Master. The SUNKIST AWARD offered by Harriet Haydon, will be awarded for Preferred classes in Novice, Open, and Excellent/Master. In order to receive either of these challenge trophy awards, a dog must qualify in both Standard and JWW at the same level. The Border Terrier with highest total points will win. In the event of a tie, the yards per second will be calculated for each run and averaged. The fastest collective yards per second will win. Small Thermal Sack NOTICE TO EXHIBITORS SAFETY, BEHAVIOR and LIABILITY: The safety of the dog is our primary concern. By entering this trial, exhibitors acknowledge that they are familiar with the rules and regulations of this sport, and that their dogs are familiar with and able to perform all obstacles safely. It is expressly understood that exhibitors alone are responsible for the behavior of their dogs and/or children. Any exhibitor whose dogs and/or children create an unnecessary disturbance or repeatedly engage in unsafe or disruptive behavior may, at the discretion of the trial committee, be asked to leave the show site. In such case, no refund of any fees paid will be made. The BTCA and its agents, employees, etc., will assume no responsibilities for any loss, damage or injury sustained by exhibitors or handlers, or to any of their dogs or property and further assumes no responsibility for injury to children. The BTCA reserves the right to decline entries for cause and may remove any dog on account of aggression. No one shall have any recourse or claim against the BTCA or any official thereof. ALL DOGS MUST BE ON LEASH at all times when on trial grounds except when in the designated warm-up area or competing on the course. ENTRIES NOT ON OFFICIAL AKC ENTRY FORMS OR PHOTOCOPIES OF ENTRY FORMS without the Agreement and Rules on the reverse side of the Official AKC Entry Form are NOT ACCEPTABLE. ENTRIES RECEIVED WITHOUT FEES will not be accepted. REFUNDS: No entry fee will be refunded if the trial cannot open or be completed by reason of riots, civil disturbances, fire, an act of God, public emergency, act of a public enemy, or any other cause beyond the control of the organizing committee. No entry fee will be refunded in the event a dog is absent, disqualified, excused, or barred from competition by the action of the Trial Committee. After the entries close, only refund requests for bitches in season can be accepted. No other refunds will be given. BITCHES IN SEASON are not permitted to compete in Agility Trials. The club will offer refunds (except for $6.00 per run to cover BTCA expenses) if a letter from a veterinarian is presented before the start of the trial stating that the bitch came into season after the closing date of the trial. RINGSIDE: Dogs may arrive any time prior to judging, If a dog needs to be measured, they must be available for measuring prior to the start of their class. All dogs not needed for further judging will be excused. JUDGES ARE NOT REQUIRED TO WAIT FOR DOGS. The Owner of each dog is solely responsible for having it ready at ringside when it is to be judged. The Club has no responsibility for providing service through a public address system or stewards or runners for the purpose of calling or locating dogs that are not brought into the ring when required. CATALOGS: Agility entries will be listed in the regular show catalog. Catalogs may be purchased at the Specialty. EXHIBITORS SHOULD FOLLOW THEIR VETERINARIAN S RECOMMENDATION TO ENSURE THEIR DOGS ARE FREE OF INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL PARASITES, ANY COMMUNICABLE DISEASES, AND HAVE APPROPRIATE VACCINATIONS. 4 CHANGE OF ENTRY As described in Chapter 1, Section 21 of the Regulations for Agility Trials, a dog which is entered in a Novice A class for which it is not eligible may be moved to Novice B. In addition, after the close of entries a dog may be moved down in their class level (ie, Master to Excellent). The request for the move to the class for which the dog is eligible must be in writing and submitted to the superintendent or trial secretary at least 30 minutes prior to the start of the trial. CATALOGS The National Specialty catalog will be available for sale at the Specialty. Catalogs cannot be preordered. The catalog will include all performance events as well as conformation. ROOM RESPONSIBILITY POLICY The Border Terrier Club of America, Inc. has adopted the following rules in order to insure that its members and their dogs will be welcome at hotels in the future. Any individual attending a BTCA sanctioned event and staying in a hotel, motel, inn or campsite/fairground has the responsibility of leaving that room or campsite exactly as found. This includes picking up after dog(s) on the grounds. Anyone who damages a room or campsite/fairground and does not report the damage to the hotel/campsite/fairground management, and make immediate restitution or arrangements to do so within a period of time agreed upon by the management, will be subject to any or all of the following actions by the BTCA Board of Directors. 1. May be banned from showing at the next BTCA sanctioned event(s). 2. May be subject to AKC sanctions. 3. Membership in the BTCA may be terminated and may not be allowed to be reinstated. Damages shall be defined as: 1. Flea infestation, urine, defecation and/or any damage to hotel/campsite/fairground property (walls, bedspreads, carpets, drapes, etc.). 2. Any verified complaint by the host hotel/campsite/fairground. 3. Any verified complaint by a BTCA member. BTCA Room Regulations: 1. All dogs shall be crated and quiet when left alone in a room. Noisy dogs shall be quieted upon request, even if this means the owner/handler must stay in the room with the dog. 2. Individuals will be expected to immediately report any damage by dogs or themselves to the hotel/campsite/fairground management, and to assume complete financial responsibility for those damages. 3. No bathing or grooming will be allowed in rooms. A grooming room will be available whenever possible. 4. Dogs are to be allowed on hotel furniture/beds ONLY if the furniture is covered with protective covering provided by the owner/handler. 5. All owners/handlers will take preventative measures to assure that their dogs are free of fleas, mites, intestinal parasites and other communicable diseases prior to arriving at the hotel/campsite.
