1 PLEASANT GREEN M.B. CHURCH COMMUNITY SERVICE PROGRAM PROGRAM I. Youth Community Service The church (Pleasant Green Missionary Baptist Church) utilizes the youth of the church and the community in a voluntary capacity; in outreach and internal ministry through mentorship and instruction. II. Service Learning Provided by the Church program cycles to be provided by the Church, generally after school hours, holiday/breaks and summer vacation. I. INDIVIDUAL COMMUNITY SERVICE REQUIREMENT All youth volunteers (grades 7 through college) are expected to follow the listed guidelines of the volunteer program. Community service performed in the current school year will be reported to the student s participating school and subject to the guidelines and requirements described below. Guidelines All potential volunteers must submit a completed application form to the church office. All applicants can get the official application from our website or visit the church office during normal business hours. The application should be submitted prior to the Trustee board meeting (3 rd Saturday of the month) for review. The Trustees upon approval / disapproval will forward the application to the Deacon board for final approval / disapproval. The Church will provide a list / bulletin board of Ministries / Auxiliaries and opportunities that are available for the individual students seeking community service opportunities. Examples of the list are (subject to amendment)

2 Ruth E. Faulkner Food Pantry Building Maintenance Office Assistance Event Set-Up Kitchen Aide Audio / Visual A student will be credited for a maximum of 10 hours of service per day. The Pleasant Green Missionary Baptist Church will document the amount of time spent on actual service, and the church will allocate a maximum of 10 hours of service per day. Travel time to and from church service activity does not count as community service hours. Expectations/Conduct All volunteers are required to meet the following requirements: All volunteers are expected to report to the designated work area at the specified time of arrival. Volunteers are to be attired for the position assigned. Personal calls during the shift are discouraged. Visitors during shift are discouraged. Friendliness and hospitality display at all times are essential. Non-Compliance In the event that a student does not adhere to the practices or policies of Pleasant Green Missionary Baptist Church, the church pending an investigation can exercise the right to dismiss a volunteer. Documentation & Reporting Only service documented as follows will be applied toward a student s satisfaction of the annual requirement and reported on his/her WWS transcript.
