1 Call for Applications UMM Master Thesis Award 2013 Concept The UMM Master Award recognizes outstanding Master theses in the field of financial inclusion. Type of Award The winning candidate will be awarded at the European Microfinance Week in Luxembourg and receive a prize money of 500. The winning thesis will be published in the frame of University Meets Microfinance Programme. Eligibility Master students who have written their Master thesis in a university in the European Union during the 12 months preceding the 31 st August 2013 can apply. The Master thesis should be written preferably in English. Theses written in French and Italian are accepted too. If the Master thesis is submitted in French or Italian, an abstract in English must be enclosed. Applicants must be available to attend and to present their research findings at the European Microfinance Week (November 12 th -14 th, 2013). Selection The award will be given on the basis of academic merit and relevance for practice within the field of financial inclusion. The award committee is made up of European academics with a relevant research focus and microfinance practitioners. Each Master Thesis will be evaluated by two members of the UMM award committee (one academic and one practitioner). The winner will be informed by October 31 st, 2013) Application Interested applicants are invited to hand in: 1. Filled and signed Application Form (Annex I) 2. Filled and signed Declaration of Consent (Annex II) 3. Filled and signed Declaration of Acceptance from the supervising professor (Annex III) 4. Filled and signed Declaration of Academic Integrity (Annex IV) 5. Master Thesis: the thesis has to be accepted and graded by the supervising professor. Corrections and/or suggestions of improvement have to be integrated in the submitted version. Note: Please send two copies of your thesis, one of it anonymous any personal data and information about you, your university and supervising professor need to be removed / blackened. 6.
