4 Current Grants and Contracts FUNDING Trauma Recovery Initiative Evaluation This project is a five-year evaluation of a National Child Trauma Stress Network (NCTSN) Community Treatment and Services Center (Category III) grant. It specifically examines the implementation of Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) in Children s Home Society of Florida s Western Division (Pensacola, FL). The evaluation uses both quantitative and qualitative methods, and includes process and outcome evaluation components as well as a fidelity assessment of the implementation of TF-CBT. SAMHSA National Child Traumatic Stress Initiative Center. $ 480,000 subcontract for evaluation. Refereed. of Evaluation Project Dates: October 2007 through September 2012 Healthy Transitions Initiative Process Evaluation The purpose of this project is to conduct a four-year process evaluation for the Healthy Transitions Initiative, working with sites to assess the fidelity of program effort related to the comprehensive transitional support model for youth and young adults. SAMHSA Center for Mental Health Services through subcontract with ICF Macro. $ 293,520. Refereed. Project Dates: October 2010 through September 2014 Children s Mental Health Initiative National Evaluation, Phase VII The purpose of this component of the National Evaluation is to build community capacity for system development by supporting theory-driven evaluation. This effort builds upon established work on theory of change and logic model development in funded system of care communities. SAMHSA Center for Mental Health Services through subcontract with ICF Macro. $354,653. Refereed. Project Dates: October 2010 September 2015 Child Mental Health Initiative, Phase VI The purpose of this component of the National Evaluation is to build community capacity for system development by supporting community-driven planning, data-driven decision making and evidencebased practices though the use of theory-driven logic model development. This effort builds on more than 10 years of established work on theory of change and logic model development in funded system of care communities SAMHSA Center for Mental Health Services through a subcontract with Macro International, Inc. 5 Completed Grants and Contracts New Communities System Development The purpose of this project was to develop materials and facilitate training based on research results from the Research and Training Center study of system implementation for communities newly funded through the federal Children s Mental Health Initiative. SAMHSA Center for Mental Health Services through subcontract with American Institutes for Research $100,000. Refereed. Project Dates: October 2010 September 2011 Exploring the Impact of Health Report Cards Study of the effects of health report cards : letters sent home by Hillsborough County Public Schools to parents describing their child s BMI. This method of reducing childhood obesity has not been proven effective and is suspected to have detrimental effects on children s self-esteem and body image. This project sought to explore the reaction and impact on 6 th grade parents and students and look into the capacity of the schools to take accurate height and weight measurements and respond to parents and students questions and concerns. USF Graduate School Challenge Grant Program $5000 Project Dates: January 2009 January 2010 Scorecard Implementation of a community-based program called Scorecard, which sought to increase physical activity among 3 rd -5 th grade youth in two Tampa neighborhoods. Participating youth received a pocketsized scorecard with 24 squares, which was filled with stamps (by participating in official Scorecard activities) or signatures (a parent could sign one square for each hour of physical activity). At the end of each six week cycle, participants attended a finale party where completed scorecards were entered into a raffle for prizes. Implementation of Scorecard included developing a community coalition, developing and pretesting program materials, conducting a physical activity resource assessment in each of the two neighborhoods, and engaging local businesses to participate as Scorecard locations and/or donate prizes. 6 DEPARTMENT RESEARCH Actualizing Empowerment: Developing a Framework for Partnering with Families in System Level Service Planning and Delivery The purpose of this research is to identify the structures, processes and relationships that support and impede system level service planning and delivery decisions for families within systems of care. This secondary analysis of data from Holistic Studies of System of Care Implementation will result in a framework for implementing family driven care as well as a rubric to outline specific strategies and performance measures to assess progress. Project Dates: April 2010 May 2011 CONSULTATION Consultant (October 2010). Consultation to Hillsborough County Health Department to provide guidance on their upcoming pilot study of a revised version of the health report card used in Hillsborough County Public Schools. Consultant (September, 2008). Consultant to Dr. Amy Eyler of Saint Louis University to assist in the analysis and coding of legislation regarding trails from the past 20 years for a study funded by the Robert Wood Foundation Active Living Research.
