1 Sharepoint development Redweb has a dedicated in-house delivery team to manage the delivery of SharePoint projects. As an agency, we have been working with SharePoint for a number of years directly in the development of intranets and extranets, the integration of SharePoint to adjacent CMS solutions and now as public facing website solutions. Redweb understand the power and flexibility of SharePoint and actively use it both internally and for client solutions. For example, we use our secure SharePoint extranet portal (ReX), to collaborate with a number of our clients throughout projects as a review and management tool. We have just completed the delivery of a SharePoint 2010 solution for the Royal National Institute for Deaf People (RNID) now Action on Hearing Loss. This work included: Heavily customised master pages and page layouts, for top-level sites Less heavily customised master pages and page layouts, for lower-level sites Use of out-of-the-box functionality where possible Web controls to provide custom functionality (where required) such as custom search and integration with Course Publisher and Achiever CRM SharePoint solution packages and deployment Installation of internal development, integration and QA SharePoint farms In addition to the above, we have been asked to install and configure the production SharePoint farm to support the above. The SharePoint platform is also a key part of the solution that we manage for one of our largest clients the Training and Development Agency for Schools (TDA). They have a number of extranets that have been built on the Enterprise version of MOSS (Microsoft Office SharePoint Server). Our work has included: Migration of TDA s SharePoint extranet to a new hosting provider. This was a large, complex operation that involved careful planning, hardware specification, SharePoint installation and configuration, data and user migration Replacing one of TDA s vital line of business applications (which was a bespoke.net application) with a system based on MOSS. This is a high-use site which is used by TDA to request all changes to their public website, intranet and extranets Building this application on MOSS saved development and testing costs because, as far as possible, we used out-of-the-box configuration, rather than developing custom code. However, some customisation was required Installation and migration of MOSS farms, including user account and content migration Ongoing development of innovative SharePoint systems, which involve the integration of content with code and applications such as InfoPath Providing business-as-usual support for MOSS extranets and applications Redweb services for public sector Page 1

3 Open Standards Redweb uses develops on HTML5, CSS3 and XML to comply with Government open standards. Open source Redweb offers the open source CMS Umbraco because of its no-cost, open-source licensing, its simplicity, and its unlimited potential which will enable the Government to deliver faster business benefits and reduce costs. Onbaording Redweb acknowledge that a new business relationship should not automatically mean a new website or intranet, or the replacement of existing solutions. We appreciate that work done by other agencies or in-house will have significant value. However, we also feel potential clients should not feel obliged to retain their incumbent agency because of technology and Redweb strive to make any transition as simple and painless as possible. Bearing this in mind, Redweb understand the transfer from one supplier to another, or the introduction of a new supplier to an existing framework of suppliers, needs to be achieved as effectively and efficiently as possible. Our basic aim is to get up to speed with your existing website, intranet and technical infrastructure quickly whilst ensuring we are also diligent in review. This is essential in ensuring any transfer of development responsibility is completed without risk. Such on-boarding requirements are achieved through hard work, experience and auditing. Furthermore, we will make no change to undertake this initial exploratory work. The main objectives of the onboarding process are as follows: To gain an understanding of the different elements of the website solution; to understand the boundaries (i.e., what, if any, other systems does it connect to), the architecture and the key technical features of the solution To be in a position to be able to carry out fixes or work on the website under our Support or BAU processes. To support this, we would anticipate undertaking the following activities: An initial meeting (either in person, or perhaps via phone conference) to discuss the solution, gain a broad understanding and to highlight relevant actions and responsibilities during the on-boarding process We would also require you to supply Redweb with the following: Any relevant current technical documentation, which may include: o Functional & technical specifications o Technical & hosting architectures Redweb services for public sector Page 3

4 o Deployment processes o Test scripts All website source code, including Visual Studio project files Backup of running website and database files so that we can create a local development site Details of hosting for the website, including connectivity information (creating an account for us if needed) to the live servers, database servers and development/test servers Once this has been received, Redweb will carry out the following tasks: A review of the documentation (which may result in further questions for the client) Placement of source code and project files within our source repository Creating a local development version of the website and ensuring that it functions correctly Test connectivity to the hosting infrastructure and establishment with the client of a deployment process Support & service desk Although every effort is made to maximise uptime, reliability can never be 100% guaranteed and problems will occasionally occur. Different users, scenarios, data input, browsers, circumstances etc. may all create issues unbeknown and unforeseen. In addition, you may have on-going questions relating to the content management and/or associated software or the need to check functionality following end user feedback or comment. Under a Redweb support contract, you will have access to our support desk during working hours (8.00am 6.00pm), as well as, if chosen, out-of-hours access to on-call technicians to meet your requirements. All enquiries are dealt with professionally, with the Redweb team priding itself on positive and proactive feedback. Support covers error correction, end user issues and clarification of technical and more common questions. The Redweb support team is knowledgeable in web technologies and fully backed by our specialist staff of software developers and web designers. All support staff are based in-house and work closely together with the production teams. For clients combining our CMS and hosting services, then support will cover website application, servers and firewalls. This is beneficial to many clients as no lines of ownership are drawn and Redweb take full responsibility for the complete system. In this situation we can also draw on our ISP s 24/7/365 monitoring services and have specific cross company procedures and escalation for incidents during 10pm 6am. This partnership benefits clients considerably. In addition, we are proactive and aim to be aware in advance of potential issues caused by new technology and security vulnerabilities. A typical example is a new browser or security patch. We can then resolve issues before the website becomes compromised. Our Support Contracts typically include: Error fixes and priority response by Redweb team 8.00am 6.00pm On-call technical staff for out of working hours response (optional) Polling of website page content every 15 minutes 24/7 to ensure uptime (SMS alert) Redweb services for public sector Page 4

5 Additional 24/7/365 monitoring and response (if hosting resides with Redweb) Direct access to Support helpdesk (working hours) Direct contact to developers when required Patching and ongoing review Assistance with end user queries and requests Post training support/questions for 3 rd party software such as CMS functionality Support undertaken within our ISO9001: 2000 procedures.
