5 Schindler is worldwide Schindler Group, established in 1874, today markets its products and services in more than 100 countries all over the world. The Group supplies all kinds of vertical transport to shipbuilders as well as to contractors at airports, railway stations, building complexes, hospitals, and high-rise buildings for commercial and residential use. The Group s value-added, service-driven maritime and landbased operations are designed to give ever-ready support to customers in all these major construction markets. Schindler elevators, escalators, moving walkways and lifting platforms have been installed on board ship since the 1980s, in compliance with all international codes. At its headquarters in Milan, Italy, Schindler Marine specializes in developing customized solutions that fulfill the special requirements of marine installations, as well as the aesthetic demands of the luxury cruise industry. Service and maintenance are available globally and managed from Italy and Miami, Florida. This, the ninth in a series of reference publications, only covers our more recent marine products (from the 1990s onwards), and deals only with new installations for passenger ships and offshore structures. 6 Cunard Cruise Line Queen Mary 2, Queen Victoria and Queen Elizabeth Queen Mary 2 Queen Elizabeth Queen Mary 2 Queen Mary 2 Hailed as the world s most beautiful ship, the newest luxury liner Queen Elizabeth, joined the fleet in October She is the forth in the Cunard fleet to be named after a British queen. She certainly looks the part, with black hull, white superstructure and red funnel. The Elizabeth is very much a luxury liner. She relives, in modern glamour, the high society events of the 1930s and 1940s. Grace ornate rooms whose rich décor recalls the heritage of the first Cunarder to bear her name. At 294 metres long and a gross tonnage of 90,900, she has plenty of space for her 2,068 guests. There are 26 Schindler installations on board: 24 elevators and 2 escalators. Cunard vessels are famous for their traditional British style and tasteful elegance, and the passenger elevators match the décor perfectly with their solid wood panelling, gilded accents and smoky mirrors. The freight lifts are made entirely of stainless steel and fully conform to US Public Health Service standards, making them ideal for food transport. The escalators include an automatic step-washing system so they can be installed in kitchens. Schindler Marine also equipped the first Cunard Queen, the Queen Mary II - for a long time the world s biggest, longest, tallest, widest and most expensive liner afloat and the Queen Victoria, keeping alive the classic tradition of grand ocean travel at service speeds of around 26 knots. This ship of superlatives, at almost 110,000-tonne, will prove a landmark in the history of shipbuilding, not only because when launched in mid 1998 she was the world s biggest passenger ship ever built, but also because her innovative design features made her a forerunner of the passenger vessels of the third millennium. The post panamax 290 m by 36 m, 3100 passenger Grand Princess is the very first ship to incorporate a moving walkway in the glass walled tunnel leading to the Skywalkers nightclub, a full 50 metres above the stern. In addition to the 36 m moving walkway, Schindler contribution included 32 elevators and 4 hydraulic platforms. The newest born by Princess Cruises, equipped by Schindler is Ruby Princess, launched in The 113,00-tonne, 290 m long giant of the seas is equipped with 40 Schindler Marine installations: 30 elevators, 8 escalators and two dumbwaiters. On them the 3,080 ship passengers experience an amazing, incredibly comfortable, and swift journey to the top. Crown Princess 12 13

8 Carnival Carnival Destiny, Carnival Triumph, Carnival Victory, Carnival Conquest, Carnival Glory, Carnival Valor, Carnival Liberty, Carnival Freedom and Carnival Dream Carnival Freedom Carnival Dream Carnival Freedom Carnival s series of leisure ships ranging from 102,000 to 110,000-tonne saw its first launch at Fincantieri in The Carnival Destiny was followed in 1999 by the Carnival Triumph, the Carnival Victory in 2000, and the Carnival Conquest in Recent additions include the Carnival Glory (2003), Carnival Valor (2004), Carnival Liberty (2005), Carnival Freedom (2007), and Carnival Dream (2009). The sister ship of Dream - Carnival Magic - debuted on May 1, The third Dream-class vessel - the Carnival Breeze - will be launched in June The 272 m by 38 m post panamax cruise ships are all equipped with 27 or 28 Schindler elevators and 8 service escalators using state of the art Schindler Miconic controls and Variodyn drives. Each fun ship has its own central furnishing theme, to vary the travel experience from one ship to another. Naval architect Joe Farcus of Miami designed all the elevator interiors as well as the four panorama cars in the seven deck atrium on each vessel. Carnival Dream 14 15

Since late 2002 these new-generation cruise ships offer 4 scenic elevators on the outside in addition to the 20 Schindler installations on board, all all designed by the Dutch naval architect Frans Dingemans. The external panorama elevators are a first in innovative cruise ship design, and greatly enjoyed by all HAL passengers. Earlier instances include the Veendam, Rotterdam, Volendam, Zaandam and Amsterdam, the whole series embodying advanced contemporary design, yet recalling HAL s old shipbuilding masterpieces Noordam

Costa Deliziosa is delicious by name and by nature, and honours a long line of famous vessels for the Genoa-based leading cruise company in Europe. Everything on Costa Deliziosa is devoted to pleasing guests: the furnishings, the mastery of great chefs, real and virtual fun, the wellness centre, art, and innovation. Perfection in all its forms, plus extraordinary architecture, enrapture and transport guests at first glance, stealing them away to a world of unique and welcoming design. Costa Deliziosa is a journey through fun, well-being and innovation. On Costa Deliziosa, cruising becomes an art. The majestic Sphere by Arnaldo Pomodoro in the great Hall welcomes guests to a world of sparkling beauty. 35 is the total number of Schindler Marine installations on board: 24 elevators, 8 escalators, 2 platforms for people with disabilities and 2 platforms for goods. The elevators are all designed by the ingenious naval architect Joe Farcus, who chose the main theme of beauty and pleasure. Furthermore, an elevator is exclusively dedicated to the wellness area: the so called Samsara SPA, one of the largest wellness centres ever built on a cruise ship (3500 sqm). Schindler equipped in the last few years also other glorious ships of Costa fleet: Costa Favolosa (2011) and Costa Fascinosa to debut on May Costa Luminosa Costa Deliziosa 18 19

These intimate ships visit the most desirable destinations worldwide, sailing to the heart of landmark cities, as well as to hidden gems where larger vessels cannot follow. In 2009, Seabourn raised the bar with the debut of Seabourn Odyssey, hailed as a game-changer for the ultra-luxury segment. Although larger than the original Seabourn sisters, Seabourn Odyssey carries just 450 guests and offers a wealth of amenities made possible by the highest ratio of space per guest in the cruise industry, including the largest spa on any luxury ship and generous private verandas on 90 percent of her suites. Seabourn Odyssey has since been joined by two identical sisters, Seabourn Sojourn in 2010 and Seabourn Quest in Schindler mobility provider of choice equipped each Seabourn ship with 12 elevators and 2 platforms for goods. 12 Royal Caribbean Cruise Line P&O Cruises Rhapsody of the seas, Vision of the seas, Legend of the seas, Splendour of the seas, Sovereign of the seas Ventura and Azura Vision of the Seas Ventura 70,000-tonne, 24-knot ferry/cruise, 2060-passenger, 12-deck mainstream-type megaships built by Chantiers del l Atlantique from 1995 to sqm of glazed windows, large public areas including the vast dining hall spreading over two decks and seating up to 1100 passengers. Norwegian architect Njäl Eide designed the 9-deck atrium with two 16-passenger Schindler panorama elevators leading from deck 4 into the traditional RCCL Viking Crown lounge around the ship s tunnel. P&O Ventura is the largest cruise ship ever built for the British market, built by Fincantieri and equipped with Schindler elevators. 33 elevators, including 2 scenic ones, 4 platforms for goods and two for people with disabilities. The elevators are designed by naval architect Giacomo Mortola at GEM of Genoa (research and development for ship design) and are made with high-quality materials, such as laminated mahogany, marble floors, and bronzen. Ventura s style recalls the 60s, especially in the large atrium served by Schindler panoramic elevators. The white ship as Ventura was called is a floating museum, with 7,000 artworks lent by London Tate Modern. Schindler also equipped the sister ship Azura, launched in April

13 Radisson Seven Seas Norwegian Cruise Line Seven Seas Navigator and Seven Seas Voyager Norwegian Sky Fitted out by T. Mariotti yards of Genoa, the 30,000- tonne Navigator and the bigger ( 50,000-tonne) Voyager will serve the higher end of the market, offering the most spacious standard suites afloat. Designed by Yran and Storbraaten of Norway, with all vertical transport by Schindler. Seven Seas Navigator At 8,000-tonne one of the biggest vessels in the NCL fleet. Schindler fitted four 7-deck panoramic elevators in the atrium as well as 17 passenger and service elevators serving up to 10 decks. Other NCL installations include the Norwegian Dream and Norwegian Wind (Chantiers de l Atlantique ), with 12 elevators on each. Norwegian Sky 24 25

14 Silversea Cruises Grimaldi Group Silver Shadow and Silver Whisper La Superba, La Suprema, Coraggio, Audacia, Tenacia, Forza, Lisco, Maxima, and Superfast II Silver Whisper La Superba As on the Silver Cloud and Silver Wind in the past, these two new yacht-like ships with all-outward cabin suites will serve the luxury end of the market with a passenger-crew ratio of 1.5 to 1. They were designed by Bjorn Storbraaten of Norway and fitted out by Mariotti shipyard in Genoa with the most exclusive materials available. Schindler elevators provide all vertical transport on board. The 50,400 tonne, 11-deck, 30-knot ferry/cruise ships are described as second generation ferries on Grimaldi s Mediterranean routes. They incorporate exceptionally great amounts of glass, giving their interiors plenty of natural light. Designed by the Genoese naval architect Giuseppe de Jorio for 2920 passengers and 1000 cars, the Apuania-built Superba and Suprema have been described by The Motor Ship as among the world s biggest and fastest luxury cruise ferries. Schindler supplied both passenger escalators and the six elevators on each vessel. Earlier Schindler contributions to Grimaldi s ships involved the GNV Majestic, Splendid, Fantastic, Excellent and Excelsior, all serving the Mediterranean

16 Schindler ID with PORT technology Personalized Elevator System PORT Terminal wall-mounted Schindler ID with PORT Technology is the latest evolution of Schindler s world-renowned Miconic 10 destination control system, already proven successful in over 40 countries. A new, revolutionary era has started the user and the elevator can communicate with each other. Schindler ID provides a wide variety of applications and advantages to the passenger: individualization of passengers and their needs integrated access control individualized transportation option of visitor control and guidance Destination control The destination control approach relies on the principle that, if a passenger destinations are known before they enter the cab, those people wishing to travel to the same floor can be assigned the same cab, thus minimising the number of stops each has to make. Cabs return to the lobby quicker to pick up more passengers and overall handling capacity is improved. Passengers can wait in an orderly manner in front of the elevator to which they have been assigned, avoiding a crush of people looking for the next available cab. When the cab arrives entry is rapid since all the passengers are already waiting right by the entrance. Once inside there is no scrambling for access to call buttons since the destination has already been registered by the system. The ride to the destination is therefore quick and stress free. Individualization The Schindler ID terminal allows configuration of individual needs. These may include a user s space requirements related to freight and goods, or specific needs e.g. for people with disabilities. Performance Thanks to the capability of reading individual passenger requirements, optimal performance in terms of traffic management and utilization of the elevator system is achieved. Identification Users are identified by their identification medium or personal PIN code at the PORT terminal in front of the elevator or anywhere close to it. PORT (Personal Occupant Requirement Terminal), with a touch screen interface, is interactive and can be personalized on the base of decks configurations or owner s requirements. Schindler ID checks the passenger s access rights and assigns a car (A, B, C, ) to the passenger. In doing so, Schindler ID takes account of the following criteria: overall traffic capacity individual traveling time attributes such as space required, handicapped passengers, traveling preferences The passenger walks directly to the assigned car and will be transported to the desired destination without any need for further interaction

17 Integrated Control System LobbyVision The management tool for the elevator and escalator installations Schindler E-Vision The elevator information system that is always up-to-date LobbyVision is a uniquely comprehensive management tool which allows single-point supervision of multiple active systems. It presents information using on-screen displays, and accepts control inputs through its keyboard and mouse. The specification of each LobbyVision installation is user-defined. This may be as complex as a control room facility for supervising many systems across a number of buildings, or it many be as simple as a reception desk unit for monitoring one group of elevators. Interaction allows the operator to turn ON/OFF different features, also called services of the elevator or escalator. The LobbyVision application provides a number of different screens in which to monitor the status of elevators and escalators. LobbyVision also incorporates a scheduler which can be used to carry out time controlled actions, or actions can also be initiated manually via user defined keyboard hot keys. LobbyVision record s every trip of each elevator or escalator and each change, i.e. statistical information. Operators can display statistical information via LobbyVision menu system, including: car statistics car call statistics floor call statistics waiting time statistics time to destination statistics passenger distribution escalator group availability escalator statistics Schindler LobbyVision Schindler E-Vision is an ideal medium for improving passengers subjective feeling of well-being in elevators. Which floor am I on? What time is it? Did i really get into the right elevator? Schindler E-Vision has answers to all these questions from elevator users. In a compact space, Schindler E-Vision can provide passengers a multitude information. Schindler E-Vision comprises an elegant, flat monitor screen of varying size at passengers head height. It is compatible with conventional control systems, as well as the Schindler ID traffic management system. The monitor s display and content can be programmed for full adaption to the customer s wishes. Schindler E-Vision has a master PC which allows the responsible building management to constantly update the information supplied, even while the elevator is in operation. As a standard solution Schindler E-Vision provides the following information: travel information such as the position and direction of the elevator service information such as overload, fire and evacuation warnings, emergency power supply, reservation, and out-of-services notices general information about the building or floor, floor announcement, slide show during the trip, online news, date and time Do not hesitate to ask for additional information displayed on commission. Schindler E-Vision There are for example projects for displaying video clips, internet pages, and images, as well as speaking recorded announcements and playing music

18 Special marine-type escalators and moving walks for passenger ships The world leader Escalators have the undisputed advantage of transporting passengers or crew quickly with no waiting time when going up or down. Escalators have become a common feature on a number of cruise ships and ferries for easy vertical transportation. Moving walkways have been installed on the 109,000-tonne Grand Princess class cruise ships, providing smooth on-board transportation to a maximum of passengers. Safe and efficient Schindler offers escalator products of acknowledged excellence, complying with European safety standard EN115, working at up to 0.65 m/s. Moving walkways can operate on slopes between 0 and 12 according to individual transportation capacity requirements. Escalator step widths can range from 600 to 1000 mm, with slopes of 30 to 35. Schindler Marine escalators are classificationsociety approved to withstand a 15 permanent sideways tilt, 7 trim and acceleration of 0.8 g vertically and 0.5 g horizontally in any direction. Schindler escalator or moving walkway products also offer a multitude of application options from step and balustrade lighting, cladding, skirting, and colours to other devices depending on operator requirements. Schindler escalator specialists are there to help you from the initial planning phase to ensure that the selected equipment fully meet your expectations in operation. The latest generation of Schindler Miconic microprocessor control systems provides a multitude of functions which can also be activated or deactivated from a PC. Furthermore, automatic operation by radar scan sensors (operating as required) can reduce wear and tear as well as energy consumption by up to 30%. Balustrades can be fitted with safety glass, or steel sheet sandwich panels (coloured or brushed: grain 240). Handrails can be black or coloured. Maximum flexibility Schindler s new moving walkways use small, user-friendly 13 cm pallets, thus reducing overall installation length and eliminating the narrow gaps between pallets and skirting ensuring additional passenger safety
