With you choice of a Guitarist, Violinist, Saxophonist, Pianist or Harpist. Duet, Trio, Mariachi and Live Bands are available for reception. The bands and DJ can be in the wedding on the beach until 11:00pm or in a banquet room until 2:00am. Types of Ceremony: Civil wedding: The Civil Ceremony changes your marital status from single to married. A Spanish speaking Judge performs the civil ceremony. A translator will be present to translate the wedding vows you will exchange that are set by the State and cannot be changed (if you need a translator your wedding planner will assist). You can t get married on Sundays or Mexican holidays. This can be compared to a ceremony performed by the Justice of the Peace in the United States or Canada. Non-Denominational or Symbolic Wedding: This ceremony does not change your marital status here in Mexico or anywhere in the world. However, you may perform the Civil Ceremony in your home state, either before or after your wedding in Los Cabos. You may participate in the creation of your wedding vows or may choose from some of the Officiant s favorites. You may alter or embellish these vows in any way you like. You may write your own vows or include special poems, reading, songs, etc. Catholic: Catholic wedding is for catholic people and is made only in a church which is located in San Jose del Cabo Downtown. To be married in a church in Mexico, you need to obtain documents from your parish at home and comply with the church s premarital procedures and marriage preparation programs. 15 LEGAL DOCUMENTATION Civil Weddings Documentation required: The Groom, Bride and Witnesses have to be in México, at least 2-4 business days before the wedding, with all correct and up to date documents, to be able to complete the Marriage application form. Groom & Bride: valid passports and birth certificates (ESSENTIAL). 4 Witnesses: valid passports or picture ID s. Groom, Bride and Witnesses: Tourist Visa Cards, given at the airport in Los Cabos Groom & Bride: Blood Test (Name, Blood Type, Syphilis and HIV). The blood test must be done in Mexico from a specific government laboratory. An appointment will be booked at the Resort s clinic. The payment is in cash direct in the hotel. Must be taken in Los Cabos 2-3 business days prior to the wedding. Blood Test (Name, Blood Type, Syphilis and HIV). The Blood Test must be done in Mexico from a specific Governmental Laboratory. An appointment will be set with them to come to the Resort and take the blood sample. The payment is directly and in Cash. ** Notes: Passports and birth certificates must have the same information (for the bride, has to be with her maiden name). Tourist visa must be filled out as the same on your passport. Blood test with HIV positive will be an impediment to get married in Mexico. If the bride is divorced, a copy of the final divorce decree must be presented. At least one year must have elapsed from the date on the divorce decree. If the bride is divorced and her passport has her ex husband last name and she wants to get married with her maiden name, it s necessary to bring the following documentation: Copy of the Birth certificate Apostille seal document that states that the bride has her maiden last name certified by the Secretary of State. Translation of the Apostille seal that will be done in Mexico (this seal must be sent to us one month before the wedding) Apostille seal and tourist visa card must be filled out according to the birth certificate The city hall will keep the copies of the birth certificate and divorce certificates, they will not be returned. The marriage will be legal in Mexico. Laws and requirements may change according to Mexican Laws. The wedding department will keep a copy of the marriage certificate. Legal marriages in Mexico are called Civil Ceremonies and are conducted by a Judge residing in the locality of where you wish to get married. Marriages performed by Ministers or Priests (even Catholic Priests) are not legally binding in Mexico. They are the symbolic and spiritual part of your wedding celebration Do we need to get our marriage license in our hometown before coming to Cabo? No, all the legal paperwork is completed in Los Cabos, Mexico When do we receive our marriage certificate? You receive all of your completed documents immediately following the ceremony Can I get married at a church in Mexico? The Catholic rules do not allow its priests to marry people outside of a physical church. This means that they cannot perform ceremonies at a beach or in a hotel. 9.- What is the best time of year to have our wedding in Cabo? Anytime! Weather is near perfect from mid-october through July. August and September can be hot and humid How many days before our wedding should we arrive in Mexico? The Civil Ceremony with the judge and translation is approximately 10 minutes. The ceremony can be between 10 and 20 minutes depending on whether you confirm a musician/singer, have other family members or friends participate in the ceremony and other such variables.
