Postgraduate Diploma in Business Administration provides broad-based management education for people with demonstrated management potential and several years experience. Postgraduate Diploma in Human Resource Management develops the skills and knowledge that allow HR practitioners to lead strategic HR programmes in local and international organisations. Postgraduate Diploma in Marketing is a comprehensive programme that covers all facets of the marketing discipline including the process of creating and managing a market-led organisation. Master of Business Administration (MBA) is a generalist degree designed for the information age and to equip managers for the global business world. 6 Certificate in Management Studies The Certificate in Management Studies (CertMS) is designed to give you a firm grounding in contemporary management skills and techniques. It is an excellent foundation for further studies in business, government, or information systems. 14 The MBA Programme Orientation All students are required to attend a two-day orientation programme during a weekend before classes begin. The programme covers the MBA learning philosophy and teaching objectives and introduces students to the University s services and resources. The weekend is also an opportunity to take part in team exercises before being formed into study groups. Professional Development Workshops The MBA programme provides a range of Professional Development workshops designed to ensure students are developing strategic skills across a number of different sectors, and provide leadership development and networking opportunities. Workshops include a Dragon s Den Consultancy Challenge, a Not-for-Profit Advisory Project, and a number of Business Labs during which business issues and dilemmas are presented for MBA students to solve. Students also undertake Accelerated Learning and various other academic study skills workshops. The Curriculum The curriculum is made up of four parts: 1. core discipline courses 2. contemporary management courses 3. strategic capstone courses 4. elective courses. Each course has 24 hours of teaching contact time. In addition, students work after class in study groups and complete projects and assignments based on real business organisations. All classes are taught in the evenings and weekends at Victoria s downtown Pipitea Campus. 18 Application Process Applications into the MBA are processed between September and February. To be considered, complete the admission application form on our website at and it with a copy of your CV and the names of two referees to mba@vuw.ac.nz International applicants should contact Victoria International at Students who meet the criteria will be offered an interview with the MBA Programme Director. These take place from October to January. Following the interview, domestic students may be invited to sit the two-hour MBA admissions test. This covers a business case study, a reading comprehension and critical thinking test and a numerical skills and logical thinking test. International students are required to take the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) and receive a score of 550 or more. If English is not your first language, you will also be required to undertake an approved English language test.
