18 Transferring to a UC or CSU Extremely important to work closely with your CC Counselor at the time of admission You will be more successful in transferring if you know the specific campus or major Visit the ASSIST website to check transfer course requirements Generally speaking, you will complete 2 years (60 units) at the CC and need a minimum GPA of 2.0 (for CSU) or 2.4 (for UC). Please note some campuses and programs may require a higher GPA.

21 US Military You must take the ASVAB to find out what career choice you have About 80% of military jobs are of a non-combat nature; 90% have direct civilian job a-likes 2 and 4-year ROTC programs lead to a college degree and commission as on officer If you are interested in a Military Academy you must secure a Congressional nomination start this process now!

22 Regional Occupational Centers (ROP) Offers career training opportunities for high school students and adults Fields such as animal care, cosmetology, culinary arts, hospitality/tourism, medical/dental All courses are available tuition free Many classes offer internships with local employers

23 Apprenticeships Earn money while learning an important skill 3-5 years of classroom and on-the-job training while working beside an experienced journeyperson Paid $9-14/hour during apprenticeship and upon completion you can earn $30 or more Occupations such as correctional officers, electricians, firefighters, machinists, automotive technicians, construction trades

24 Career Planning A good place to start is with your personal interests, skills and things you do well Make a list of things you enjoy doing Try to identify experiences you ve had that you might turn into a career Talk with your counselor (Junior Credit Check), teachers or family
