1 Hunter College August 2011 NIH Progress Reporting (for Aug Dec due dates) Monday, Aug 31, :30am 1pm This workshop is for those who have active NIH grants with progress reports due between August 2011 and December This workshop will assist in meeting the electronic progress reporting requirement. September 2011 NIH SCORE September 25 th Submission Thursday, September 1, :30am 1pm This workshop is for faculty that have been selected to submit a SCORE grant. This workshop will assist participants in navigating the electronic submission process. It will also assist them with SCORE specific requirements. NIH R01 Submission Information Session (October 5 th submissions) Tuesday, September 6, :30am 1pm This workshop is for faculty that intend to submit grants for the October 5th deadline. This workshop will assist participants in navigating the electronic submission process. It will also assist them with R01 specific requirements. Hiring Process/PVN Wednesday, September 7, :00am 11:30pm This workshop is for faculty and staff who have Research Foundation (RF) grants. It will cover RF requirements for hiring and rehiring personnel. Tea & Talk Wednesday, September 7, pm 2:30pm Page 1 of 6

2 Funding Opportunities Databases Tuesday, September 13, am 11:30am This workshop will assist faculty and staff in navigating the several database subscriptions to which Hunter has access. These databases will assist in identifying potential funding opportunities. NIH R21, R03 and R15 Information Session (for October submissions) Wednesday, September 14, :30am 1pm This workshop is for faculty that intend to submit grants for the October deadlines for these competitions. This workshop will assist participants in navigating the electronic submission process. It will also assist them with the R21, R01 and R15 specific requirements. Introduction to Research Administration for New Faculty Monday, September 19, :30am 1pm This informal session is only for new faculty and will introduce them to the services that the Office of Research Administration provides. It will also cover the Research Foundation. Open House: ORA Who Are We and What Do We Do? Wednesday, September 21, pm 3pm This open house is for faculty and staff. It will introduce them to the services that the Office of Research Administration provides and give individuals an opportunity to ask questions. Open House: ORA Who Are We and What Do We Do? (119th Street) Wednesday, September 21, am 12pm This open house is for faculty and staff. It will introduce them to the services that the Office of Research Administration provides and give individuals an opportunity to ask questions. This will take place at the Silberman School of Social Work on 119 th Street. Sexual Harassment Training Monday, September 26, am 11:30am The Research Foundation requires that all employees and supervisors complete the Sexual Harassment Training. This online session will assist individuals in completing this mandate. TIAA Representative Tuesday, September 27, :30pm 11am A TIAA CREF representative will be on campus to advise RF Employees of the new changes to its policy. Page 2 of 6

3 October 2011 Faculty Released Time Wednesday, October 5, :30 am 1 pm This workshop will explain how faculty are released from teaching for grant activities. It will also focus on the new Research Foundation requirements for released time. Tea & Talk Wednesday, October 5, pm 2:30 pm Electronic Payroll and Benefits Enhancements Wednesday, October 12, am 2pm The Research Foundation has a new online portal for benefits enrollment, name and address changes, emergency contacts and a new comprehensive paystub.. This workshop will aid participants in navigating this portal. How to Administer Your Grant Wednesday, October 12, am 11:30 am This workshop is for faculty and staff. It will focus on all post awards issues. Topics to be covered are personnel, travel, purchasing equipment and supplies, tuition and stipends etc. ERA Commons Profile Tuesday, October 18, :30 am 1:30pm NIH Commons is used to for many federal grant functions, such as grant submissions, progress reporting, student stipends, etc. In order to use the system you must have an ERA Commons Profile. This workshop will provide attendees with a User ID and also assist those who have a User ID ensure that their profile correctly reflects their information. Tea & Talk Wednesday, October 19, pm 3 pm E PAF and E Timesheets Friday, October 21, pm 3 pm Most Research Foundation personnel functions are done electronically. This workshop will cover the E PAF and E Timesheets systems. Page 3 of 6

4 RF Web Reports Monday, October 24, am 12pm The Research Foundation (RF) Web Reports is an electronic accounting system. The workshop will cover the functionality of this system. Funding Opportunities Part 2 Tuesday, October 25, am 11:30am This workshop assists participants of the Founding Opportunities workshop to fine tune their searches. Sexual Harassment Training Thursday, October 27, am 11:30am The Research Foundation requires that all employees and supervisors complete the Sexual Harassment Training. This online session will assist individuals in completing this mandate. Webinar on Federal Research Priorities and Budget for FY12 October 31 November 2, am 3pm daily Hunter College has purchased access to a webinar sponsored by the University of Missouri and the National Association of College and University Business Officers and Association of American Universities. November 2011 Dealing with Rejection Wednesday, November 2, pm 3 pm This workshop will help researchers deal with rejection in this tough grant funding arena. Workshop presenters are actual faculty who will provide their experiences in turning a no to a yes. PSC CUNY Reviewers Wednesday, November 16, pm 1:30 pm This workshop will provide participants with a birds eye view from the point of the reviewers. It will cover pitfalls, common errors and what makes an application outstanding. Electronic Grant Submission Workshop Friday, November 18, am 11:30 am This workshop will discuss the process and requirements for electronically submitting grants to several agencies. Tea & Talk Wednesday, November 30, pm 3 pm December 2011 Collaborating Effectively (Subawards) Wednesday, December 7, am 12 pm Many grants have subawards.
