7 Below are questions that Project CBD submitted to Michael Glavanovich of Stewart Environmental Consultants in an from Aaron Cantú dated Monday, July 28, 2014 at 4:38 PM: 1) Is Stewart Environmental Consultants (SEC) accredited to any laboratory oversight program (e.g., ISO 17025, ELAP, etc)? 2) May we have a copy of the corrective action report that explain the discrepancies between the two reports? (Corrective actions explain why there are differences between two reports of the same submitted sample with different results.) 3) Why do the two reports have the exact same Lab ID (S ) with differing results? (The corrective action reports that a lab generates for internal quality control would address this. ) 4) Why are there two reports with no clear delineation between the two reports? There should be an explanation attached to the second report explaining why there were modifications to the result. 5) The elements that have differing results between the two reports are lead, molybdenum, nickel, selenium, and silver. Why have these been changed to a lesser value? Is it is because they are some of the more toxic elements in the table? 6) Why has the same analyst been used to re analyze the same elements? 7) Why is the lab report signed on 23 May but analyzed on the 13/16 May? What is the standard turnaround time for this type of analysis? 8) The first report lists epa 3031 as the method for digesting/preparing the submitted sample for analysis. What does the number 21 indicate under the Results column? 9) Epa method 3031 is acid digestion of oils for metals analysis Was the submitted sample prepared for subsequent analysis (epa 200.7) via method 3031? Or was the sample further prepared for analysis according to prep methods listed in 200.7? How was it diluted? 10) If submitted sample was only prepared for analysis by epa was the sample digested prior to analysis in both reports? If the sample was not digested, why not? The method (epa 200.7) calls for digestion when the metals (elements) to be tested are not in solution (e.g, sludge, sediment, aqueous samples that may contain particulate and suspended solids). Was the sample filtered prior to analysis? Yes or no and why. 11) Silver can be reported at a lesser recoverable value when not predigested (if prepped by method 200.7), so was the second sample not predigested and just directly analyzed if only analyzed by 200.7? 12) The modified report is being used by the company that manufactures the oil on this web page to advertise the purity of the product. Does Jason Cranford know that he paid for a report that is being used by the parent company to represent the purity of the sample? Also on the same web page there is no COA as the web page advertises.
