I am glad to support you in all matters regarding your choice of courses and pertinent issues to your grades as well as to your examinations while studying at SRH Hochschule Berlin. In this document, you will find all courses offered at SRH Hochschule Berlin during the fall/winter semester , which are open to exchange students. Please read this document carefully. There will be no classes during this time. All dates are preliminary until final approval. A detailed orientation agenda will be sent to you once it has been finalized. 3 Language Skill Level At SRH Hochschule Berlin, you may attend courses in English or in German. In order to follow courses and be able to pass the examinations, it is absolutely crucial that you have sufficient language skills at least advanced level proficiency. Limited Space At SRH Hochschule Berlin, we put an emphasis on the individual attention and guidance of each one of our students which is why spaces in each course are limited. Since most of you indicated that you would like to take Bachelor courses which are taught in English, admission to these courses may be somewhat competitive. However, we will make an effort to accommodate all of your course choices. Overlapping Courses Due to the high number of offered courses and the release of the exact course times just shortly before the beginning of the semester, some of your chosen courses may overlap. Therefore, we recommend that you choose courses of the same study program, the same semester and the same year group. Language Courses At SRH Hochschule Berlin, we offer language courses in English, Spanish and German. These courses will be offered at different levels. Access to all language courses depends on several criteria: on your language level which will be tested during the orientation week, whether or not a course that corresponds to your level will be offered, whether or not it fits your schedule and whether or not there is still space. Should there be no suitable language course available to you at SRH Hochschule Berlin, we will be happy to help you find a suitable course at a different institution. ECTS During each semester that you study abroad at SRH Hochschule Berlin, you may take between 2 and 30 ECTS. In order to gain the outlined ECTS credits of a course, you are required to pass all examinations of the course. Additionally, you must fulfill the minimum attendance requirement. For the most part of the list in this document, one course equals one full module. If a module consists of more than one course, you are still able to take just one course (or more courses) and gain ECTS credits for the individual course(s) you take. Grades SRH Hochschule Berlin provides an online grading platform called Studos which shows your acquired grades and ECTS credits. Transcript In Studos, you will also be able to print out your Transcript of Studies. If you like to get it stamped and signed, please come to the Examination Office (room H.122) with your print-out. Shortly after all of your grades are marked down in Studos by your lecturers, you will receive your final Transcript of Records. Examinations Examinations will take place only at the scheduled dates and times. There will be no exceptions (e.g. for students needing to leave early). 4 Re-Examinations If you fail a course (grade: 5.0/ F/ fail), you are allowed to re-take the examination. Exception: If a module consists of more than one course and you are obliged to take all of the courses in order to gain the required ECTS credits for the module, you will only be allowed to re-take the examinations if your individual course grades amount to the grade 5.0 (F/ fail) all together. If you like to re-take an examination, please inform the Examination Office via (albert.garber@srh-hochschule-berlin.de). Thank you. Choosing your Courses The course selection is done in three phases: 1. Have a look at all of our offered courses in this document. Choose the courses you would like to attend and write them down in the Learning Agreement / Course Selection Form. Sign the form and also let your home university sign the form. Then send the form as a pdf scan via to the Academic Coordinator Mr. Albert Garber (albert.garber@srh-hochschule-berlin.de) no later than Friday, August 8, The course choices of students who submit their documents after this date may be treated with a lower priority. Please note: a. For a description of the courses, please take a look at SRH s Course Catalogue: b. Learning Agreement vs. Course Selection Form: - ERASMUS students: please complete the Learning Agreement (a current template is available from your home university) - non-erasmus students: please complete the Course Selection Form which you find at the end of this document c. Please make sure you choose only courses which apply to your study level (Bachelor students may only choose Bachelor classes; Master students may only choose Master classes). d. Be aware that choosing classes from different semesters and different study programs will most likely result in scheduling conflicts. In order to comply with relevant attendance policies, students may not choose overlapping classes. e. Due to the high amount of specialized courses already in the first year of SRH s study programs, you are very welcome to choose courses from the first year, even though you may already be in your second or third year of study. 2. After the above listed deadline (August 8, 2014), we will review the course choices of all incoming students and will check the availability of capacities in each of the chosen classes. As you have been informed about before, there is limited space in each class. If there are more exchange students wanting to enroll in a certain class than we have spaces available, a selection process will take place, which you will be informed about at a later date. All class choices are provisional until they have been approved by the Academic Coordinator and/or the Study Program Director shortly before or after your arrival. 3. The actual course times will be set shortly before the beginning of the semester and will either be sent to you via by the Examination Office (Mr. Albert Tristan Garber) or handed out during orientation. You will have a chance to discuss your course choices and finalize your individual course schedule with Mr. Garber during orientation in Berlin.
