4 VISIONAIR GOALS To provide to a wide research community an access to high level visualisation techniques To create convergences between visualisation capacities spread over Europe To enlarge the visibility and attractivity of European Research for research using these technologies

6 Scientific topics 1. Scientific Visualisation addresses tools and methods offered to navigate in huge data set issued from scientific simulations. 2. Ultra-high Quality Image focuses on tools and methods to share high definition images and films over networks. 3. Virtual Reality focuses on high-end immersive facilities that allow users to experience virtual environments and interact with them. 4. Collaborative environments including Holography and Augmented reality associates platforms able to propose synthetics environments mixing a large set of advanced facilities for remote collaborative works.

7 Trans-national accesses Promotion of the infrastructure capacities Openning a call to projects with internal selection based on excellence Invitation of selected projects : researchers are hosted freely on one of the proposed sites. A full access with assistance to the technology will be provided to apply the research

9 Understanding Infrastructure Concept Research vs Service to research Priority is given to Transnational access Network activities and Joint Research Activities are dedicated to improve services provided in TNAs In our case, VISIONAIR is distributed because facilities were already spread in Europe

10 Partners involvment We focuss on several past Network of Excellence VRL-KCIP which became EMIRAcle INTUITIONS We merge several complementary initiatives The initial VISIONAIR one (centred on VR and AR) One centred about scientific visualisation One centred on Ultra High Definition We started with an inventory of available facilities

11 Structure of TNAs In our case the high number of partners requires clusters of TNAs Visibility of the proposed topics (4) Hierarchisation of the organisation (to improve global management : leader of clusters) To open opportunities to link the facilities together

12 Coordination and Joint Coordination dedicated to Internal communication Research Activities External promotion of the infrastructure Organisation and management of the call to projects Technical improvement of the services Interoperability between sites Devlopment and maintenance of shared services Joint research activities Technical improvement of services Transfer of national research efforts into operational services

13 Budget The main difficulty is to understand the unit of access and the unit cost of an infrastructure (No investment and no VAT) to share this understanding with partners
