1 Sculpture Extened Thinking rt rt: Sculpture Product/Performance GLE 2: Select and apply three-dimensional media, techniques, and processes to communicate ideas and solve challenging visual art problems F 5: knowledge of visual and performing arts in historical and cultural contexts ssessment 1. explore a wide range of media such as but not limited to: a. wood b. fabricated Steel c. clay d. plaster e. papier mache f. styrofoam g. recycled material. 2. learn to use a wide range of tools and techniques that apply to that specific media such as but not limited to: a. stone chisels b. wood chisels c. welder. 3. develop fundamental and personal concepts concerning subject matter and problem solving as related to sculpture. F 1 1a. Students will construct a life size bust using a metal armature and clay. 1d. Students will construct a life size figure using chicken wire and plaster based on the artist George Segal. 1e. Students will observe and relate sculpture through nature by constructing a large sculpture based on a seed pod using papier Mache and chicken wire armature. 1f. Students will have an understanding of subtractive sculpture by doing a figurative piece using Styrofoam. 1g. Students will learn to do a additive sculpture using fabricated steel and found objects and welding them together. The teacher will evaluate students projects based on their understanding of technique, craftsmanship and creative thinking.
