The engineer will be responsible for leading and executing reliability tests on new accessories like the Smart Cover, docks, dongles, etc. The engineer should have good background in testing soft goods products and should be able to understand and develop robust testing strategies. Description The Product Quality (portables) Engineering group is looking for a technically qualified candidate to help analyze customer returns (systems and replaced parts) and calibrate our factory outgoing quality assurance (OQA) process to the real life customer experience. We are looking for an individual with direct experience in dealing with and understanding Apple customer issues who can then bring these experiences into the manufacturing process, ensuring that the factory OQA process is performing the appropriate testing to capture the issues typically seen by the customer. Duties: - Analysis of systems and parts returned from customers and/repair depots. - Reproduce and analyze the cause of the fail and liaise with PQE and other Engineering groups to help identify containment and/or corrective actions. - Conduct assessment of factory OQA processes and report back on discrepancies or gaps relative to customer experience. - Work with PQE and other Engineering groups to identify and implement solutions - Work with early field failure analysis teams (Applecare, Engineering and Ops) to identify gaps in verification in the field to fault replication in the lab and then correlating this back to the factory OQA process - Improving the capture process from stores, reduce false captures and work with response engineer to ensure captures are valid - Travel to QSMC Shanghai to conduct assessment of OQA process and ensure lessons learned are implemented in factory user testing. - Possible trips to Sacramento warehouse and repair Depots (US and International) Education BS Engineering (EE/ME/Computer Sc etc) Equivalent level + relevant experience considered.

Responsibilities The Accessories Test Design Lead (TDL) is a terrific position for someone interested in working in a fast paced environment and willing to drive exciting cross-functional projects. The Test Design Lead will be responsible for the following duties concerning the Accessories from Apple Accessory product lines. Responsible for managing board level and acoustic factory tests for new product introduction (NPI) from prototype to mass production. This includes documentation of all the ongoing tests and developing/executing project plans, specifying test stations and diagnostics for testing product features, specifying/implementing test process control, test data collection, and organizing the manufacturing and delivery of testers and fixtures for the production lines. Be the main contact concerning board level and acoustic tests and processes mentioned above with our different Contract Manufacturers (CMs). Interact with internal groups at Apple to ensure that tests are being performed adequately and on time. Working closely with the development teams, early in the product development lifecycle, to create reliability tests for functionality and performance of the mobile products. Host regular test project meetings with hardware and software cross functional teams, to track features, requirements and issues, Responsible for the development of test procedures, test plans and test reports conducted at Apple and by the CMs. Help in implementing different methodologies to be able to predict system and component level behavior, specifically with respect to reliability, and in documenting the tests and results. Responsible for communicating to management and Technical Staff the outcome of all of the tests, and where appropriate, corrective actions. Camera Calibration and Instrumentation Team is responsible for developing camera calibration and validation solutions of Apple s products at system level. These solutions will be used during New Product Introduction (NPI). Responsibility of a Camera Calibration and Instrumentation Designer will be to design and deploy an effective calibration and validation system including methodologies, hardware, software, equipment and fixture...etc. This designer works closely with the Camera Design and Validation groups to ensure the success of current and future Apple products. Key Qualifications Self-motivated, independent, and proactive. Excellent communication skills. Ability to work well in a collaborative, highly cross-functional and fast pace environment. Bachelors of Science, EE, CE, CS or equivalent. Good fundamental knowledge and problem solving skill in engineering is a must. 2-5 years of related work experience in Camera or Imaging Industry is preferred. Experience and knowledge in image processing required. Experience in optical measurement systems and measurement automation preferred. C/C++ and Matlab is required. Labview s knowledge is a plus.
