1 TEMPUS IRIS PROJECT 30 June 2014 Volume 8 Our Best Wishes on Ramadan رمضان (Arabic: Ramadan Ramaḍān, IPA: [rɑmɑˈdˤɑːn];[variations] Persian: ر م ضان Ramazān; Urdu: Turkish: Ramzān; ر م ضان Ramazan; Indonesian: Puasa or Bulan Puasa) is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar;muslims worldwide observe this as a month of fasting. This annual observance is regarded as one of the Five Pillars of Islam. Ramadan in 2014 starts on Saturday, the 28th of June and will continue for 30 days until Sunday, the 27th of July [From Wikipedia]. INTRODUCTION Dear Tempus IRIS partners, Time has arrived to meet each other once again in the 3 rd consortium meeting of the Tempus IRIS project. The last year had been very intensive with a variety of workshops and meetings, in which the partners had gained valuable knowledge about internationalisation. Now we are at a turning point, when we are expected to take actions to implement internationalisation in our campuses. We will use this great opportunity of the consortium meeting for reports on progress and updates regarding future plans. It is also our duty to expand the concept of internationalisation outside the colleges campuses towards other colleagues in the higher education environment and to identify opportunities that will enable to generate the infrastructure for sustainable internationalisation that will remain fruitful after the project will end. On another path, we will use the gathering to provide some updates on administrative and practical issues, and of course, to strengthen our social relationships and cooperation. All the details are presented hereinafter. Hope to see all of you in Warsaw on 8-10 September, Dr. Vered Holzmann, veredhz@braude.ac.il I'm not the smartest fellow in the world, but I can sure pick smart colleagues. Franklin D. Roosevelt

5 Summary: Israeli Partners Meeting for Establishment of Cooperation 22 June, 2014, The Max Stern Yezreel Valley College, Israel. On June 22, the top management and the IRIS team at The Max Stern Yezreel Valley College hosted representatives of the Israeli Colleges and representatives of the National Union of Israeli Students for a one day meeting aimed to discuss ideas and alternatives for future cooperation and collaboration to promote internationalisation. The major suggestions for cooperation and joint initiatives were: 1. Higher Education as an Economic Resource (by Prof. Aliza Shenhar). Managing a joint process of internationalisation as a business enterprise that will be profitable for all the partner colleges. Using a joint resource pool to offer a variety of programs and courses by the partner colleges in an uncompetitive manner. 2. Diversity and Intergroup Training & Research Center (by Prof. Helena De-Sevilia). Establishing a center for training of heterogeneous teams and research in relevant fields. Offering a summer school program by the array of colleges, which will exploit the advantages of each partner college. 3. Faculty Members in Teaching and Research (by Dr. Orit Abuhav & Mr. Felix Nagar). Focusing on the academic staff to promote internationalisation by sharing teaching advanced teaching methods and tools and by establishing a forum of research authorities that will share knowledge and submission opportunities. 4. Internationalisation Network (by Ms. Esther Wynhorst & Ms. Anat Benson). Building a database of relevant stakeholders in the field of internationalisation, including Israeli, European, and other relevant Higher Education institutions and persons. Share the database among the IRIS partners to promote internationalisation projects. 5. Erasmus+ Projects (by Dr. Vered Holzmann). Initiating a continuing project, with the necessary changes and adjustments, to carry on the implementation of internationalisation in the colleges. Available directions include innovation in internationalisation, evaluation of internationalisation, and cooperation with HEIs from other countries in the middle-east. Each one of the initiatives was discussed, and a leading team was appointed in order to create a work plan. These initiatives will be developed as part of WP8: Exploitation and Sustainability. Therefore, tasks 8.2 and 8.3 will be changed from the original plan, as presented in the following table, to include the new initiatives. Sapir Academic College will coordinate WP8 and make the required adjustments. for any use which may be made of the information contained therein. [5]
