1 Four easy, pain-free steps to moving your checking account OPEN YOUR NEW ACCOUNTS First, open a new account with Bank of American Fork. We ll explain your choices of bank cards, checks, image statements, storage binders, checkbooks, online banking options, and much more. Please bring a valid form of identification and a copy of a recent statement of the account you re closing. Additional documentation will be required for business accounts. To find out exactly what you ll need, contact a new accounts representative at in Utah Valley or toll-free. CLOSE YOUR OLD ACCOUNTS Leave your old accounts with your previous institution active long enough to allow outstanding checks and automatic withdrawals to clear (a few weeks). When all transactions have cleared, request that your account balance be sent to you (use form #2). Destroy your old checks, ATM/debit cards and deposit slips. If you have outstanding balances on your previous bank s credit or debit cards, you should arrange for repayment with your old bank. TRANSFER AUTOMATIC DEPOSITS TO YOUR NEW ACCOUNT (use form #3) TRANSFER AUTOMATIC WITHDRAWALS TO YOUR NEW ACCOUNT We ll help you prepare the forms to transfer your automatic transactions (form #4). We can even make telephone calls while you are in our office to make sure the transfer is handled quickly and accurately.
